Chapter 730 – Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family

Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family

Every single thing here was enough to send her parents into a fury.

They might even kick her out of the house.

What was she to do??

If only Martha were here, she’d have an idea.

But Mirabella had caused Martha’s death!!

Damn that Mirabella!!

“With such damning evidence, how dare you try to squirm out of this—” Louisa, seeing her like this, grew even more incensed, gritting her teeth, “At this point, you’re still trying to make excuses?? How could the Collins family have raised such a heartless creature—”

Hearing her mother’s thunderous roar and scathing words, Serena was petrified, her tears stuck in her eyes, frozen in place.

Her mind went blank with fear, she didn’t know how to explain, only managing to crawl over, blurting out in panic, “Mom, you’ve got it all wrong, it’s not what it looks like.”

“You have no right to call me ‘Mom’—nor to be my daughter—you soulless, venomous, cruel, despicable cur.”Just as Serena crawled to her feet, she was kicked away.

“You dare to live as nothing has happened and to bully my own daughter, how can you have the face to live in this world?? You’re the most terrifying, most vile, most disgusting creature I’ve ever seen.”

Louisa spat out, kicking Serena again with all her might.

Serena felt a cold shiver run down her spine, her face drained of color.

Growing up, her mother had never used such foul language to scold her. Before Mirabella came into the picture, she was the family’s darling princess, doted on by everyone. She got everything she wanted with just the snap of her fingers, living a life of luxury and ease.

But now, her mother was unleashing such venomous words at her, had kicked her twice, and slapped her across the face.

Before Mirabella’s return, would her mother have ever dreamed of treating her like this?

Every harsh word, every action cut like a knife, stabbing deep into Serena’s heart.

Watching her mother tremble with anger, tears streamed down Serena’s face, “Mom.”

“Don’t you dare call me ‘mom’ again. You’re not worthy.” Louisa pointed an accusing finger, her voice choked with cold anger and disappointment, “We raised you for eighteen years, treating you like a treasure, always at your beck and call. While you lived in the lap of luxury, throwing money around like confetti, our own flesh and blood suffered for a full eighteen years out there!”

Tears fell like rain from Louisa’s eyes as her chest heaved with fury, “Your birth mother died in that terrible fire, and your father disappeared. We didn’t throw you out on the street right away. Instead, we treated you like our own daughter, allowing you to continue living a pampered life, surrounded by luxury and adoration.”

Louisa sobbed uncontrollably, her voice filled with rage, “We didn’t expect repayment or gratitude, all we hoped was that you would get along with our true daughter. But you went behind our backs time and time again to bully her, and in the end, you resorted to despicable and vile tactics like drugging and hiring a hitman. Are you even human??”Louisa shook with anger, her eyes full of pain and fury as she glared at Serena, “Even a dog we raised would wag its tail for us, but after eighteen years, you nearly killed our own beloved girl! You deceitful, cunning, and heartless creature, we never should have kept you, never should have treated you like our own.”

Hearing her mother’s words, Serena was panic-stricken, desperate to explain, but Louisa closed her eyes, letting the tears fall, heartbroken and utterly defeated.

The more they had cherished her in the past, the more they now felt a profound regret.

They had been blind, not seeing their own daughter’s suffering until now.

“Louisa, come here quickly.” It was then that Kenneth called urgently, “Romeo sent a message, it looks like something’s happened to Bella.”

“What did you say??” Louisa rushed over, and saw that Romeo had sent several videos, the first of which seemed to show their daughter being ambushed in an abandoned building.

Eunice leaned in to watch, and Bard, unable to see, suggested, “Honey, cast the video so everyone can see it clearly without crowding around.”

“Right, right.” Kenneth quickly handed his phone to Eunice.

Eunice removed the back cover of the small remote, took out a connector for the phone, and once connected, the video content was projected onto the white wall with crystal clarity.

They all watched as Martha surrounded Mirabella with countless henchmen, even tying her up, and anger surged through them like a tidal wave.

It turned out that all the dangers and troubles their precious Bella had encountered before, including the pilot’s sudden heart attack, the appearance of a mysterious man in the restaurant, and more, wereall orchestrated by Martha from the shadows.

What shocked them most was that their child had known about these things for a long time. Not only did she know, but when she spoke with Martha, she kept referring to Serena as “your daughter.” Could it be that Serena was Martha’s daughter? Her own flesh and blood??

With this thought, everyone’s gaze shifted back to Serena.

Serena herself was confused, not understanding what was happening.

Martha was supposed to be her nanny, who had cared for her since she was a child. How could she suddenly become her real mother.

Her real mother wasn’t the one who died in that fire, was she?

But if Martha wasn’t her real mother, why didn’t she deny it when Mirabella said that.

In a shocking turn of events, Mirabella found herself bound to a chair, her cell phone tossed down the stairs by the spiteful Martha, who spitefully claimed that Mirabella could have led a decent life elsewhere, yet she chose to come back to her doom.

The room was filled with outrage, tempers flaring like a bull seeing red.

Martha, in her utter disrespect, had the audacity to yank Mirabella’s ponytail. Louisa was beside herself with fury and panic, her voice tinged with anger and urgency, “That damn Martha, how dare she?!”

The thought of her daughter’s hair being pulled like that was enough to break her heart.

But Martha didn’t stop there; she had people search Mirabella, insisting she should keep a low profile in the family.

This twisted sense of morality stoked the fires of fury in everyone present.

As the confrontation between Mirabella and Martha unfolded, it became clear that Serena had been up to no good. Her attempts to seduce Romeo, both overt and covert, were unforgivable offenses.

. Yet, Martha didn’t see anything wrong with Serena’s actions; instead, she blamed Mirabella for returning.

These values, or rather the lack thereof, had everyone ready to skin the old hag alive.

From their exchange, Louisa was horrified to learn that Martha had dared to drug the soup, intending to give her precious daughter a horrible case of diarrhea.

No wonder Bella had suddenly insisted on letting Martha have the soup. She must have realized something was off. That meant Martha had the gall to bully their darling girl right in front of them!

“This wretched woman.” Kenneth couldn’t even finish his sentence before Louisa gasped in horror.

Martha had picked up a whip to lash at their precious Bella, threatening to ruin her face, to cut off her hands and feet.

That was the last straw for Kenneth. In a blind rage, he flipped the coffee table, sending everything flying towards Serena. The sound of shattering glass filled the room as the large table top broke into pieces, causing Serena, who had never seen her father so angry, to pale with fear.

Glass shards flew all around her, one slicing past her chin, leaving her utterly shaken.

Then everyone watched as Martha sent Serena a video call, threatening to scar Mirabella’s face, to chop off her limbs, to push her from the eighteenth floor, and then to chop her up into pieces and grind her down the garbage disposal, so that the Collins family would never find her.

Eyes blazed with anger as everyone turned to Serena.

Serena was petrified, her soul almost leaving her body at the thought of the camera capturing everything so clearly.

Martha suggested carving words into Mirabella’s face, and Serena, rather than protesting, excitedly suggested they should carve one word on each side: “Bitch” on one cheek and “Slut” on the other.

Eunice couldn’t believe her eyes, and in a fit of rage, she hurled the mug from the side table next to the couch right at Serena’s face.

It wasn’t the same coffee table that Kenneth had flipped over earlier. This mug had been resting on a small, oval side table by the arm of the sofa.

The mug hit Serena square in the cheek, the lukewarm coffee burning her already injured chin, splashing all over her face and clothes, leaving her a total mess.

But by now, Serena was petrified, her spirit practically shattered.

Eunice got up and marched over to her, slapping her across the face repeatedly, “You think you can mess with my Bella and get away with it? The Collins have been too kind to you!”

Serena, trembling with fear, managed a weak, “Auntie.”

With a snarl, Eunice kicked her hard, as if this ungrateful girl had no right to call her “auntie”.

Serena fell back into the shattered glass, and though her winter clothes were thick, her palms and the back of her hands were cut and bleeding, shaking from the pain.

The video continued to play in the background.

The gathering crowd started to uncover the hidden truths behind the fire incident.

It wasn’t Martha who had cunningly switched the babies; she had just taken advantage of the situation.

Seeing her own daughter being taken to the Collins’, she schemed to work her way into their household.

But the real mastermind behind the fire was someone else!Martha knew who it was but refused to spill the beans, only hinting that the person was very powerful.

Who could it be?

Who would want to harm their precious daughter?

Who wished them dead?

As Martha was about to carve letters into Mirabella’s face, Serena didn’t intercede for Mirabella. Instead, she demanded Mirabella beg her, kneel, and knock her head on the ground ten times, admitting it was a mistake to return to this family.

Louisa, watching all this, was seething with anger and snatched up a footstool nearby, hurling it at Serena.

Serena was terrified out of her wits; she had never seen her mother so furious before!

The video ended there, but there were two more messages in the chat, sent from Romeo’s phone by Mirabella.

[Dad, my phone’s broken, so I’m using Romeo’s to check in. I’m safe with him and not hurt, don’t worry about me.]
