“It’s not your job to worry about the Reed family. Also, you were the one who taught Oriel what she said today, weren’t you?” Jason said directly.

“I… It’s not me!” Irene Lynch felt guilty but was quick to say no. “I told you. She saw the video herself. In the video-”

“Irene Lynch, do you think you’re too smart, or do you take others as fools? If it happens again, the Reed family will publicly go back on our decision to adopt Wanna.”

Irene Lynch’s expression instantly changed when he said that. ‘Go back on their decision? If that happens, not only will I lose all the glory I have now but I’ll also be ridiculed by everyone. I’ll get trampled back to my poor state before!”

“Mr. Reed, you can’t do this. Oriel has always thought of you as her father!” Irene Lynch said quickly.

However, Jason only replied coldly, “Then you should tell her that I never was and never will be her father!”

Meeting Jason’s eyes, which seemed to be able to read  people’s hearts, Irene Lynch only felt cold. The man was so cold to her… He was so cold that it was as if any plans she might have would not work on him.

He would only have Grace in his heart.

‘Why? What’s so good about a woman who left the Reed family for five years and has probably cheated on him countless times during the period?

‘Is she worthy of such gentle treatment from him?

‘He should be gentle to me!’

With red and swollen cheeks, Irene Lynch left Reed Residence, full of hatred and jealousy.

Grace let her two children wash up and tucked them into bed.

Jasper casually said good night and kissed her mother and brother before falling asleep.

After his sister fell asleep, Mick Reed solemnly told Grace, “You’re my only mommy.”

Grace was stunned for a moment. Then, she felt a little sorry for her son’s precocity after coming to her senses.

‘Is he worried Irene Lynch will replace me?’

“Don’t worry, Daddy won’t let another woman be your mommy.”

The little one seemed to ponder over it for a moment after hearing that. He nodded and said good night to Grace before falling asleep as well.

Grace could not help but smile as she watched the faces of her two sleeping children.

‘No matter what it takes, I’ll protect my kids, my family, and… the man who loves me so deeply!”

When she returned to the bedroom, Grace saw Jason with his eyes closed and brows furrowed. He was pressing his hands. on both sides of his forehead. She hurried forward and asked, “What’s the matter? Are you having another headache?”

Her voice seemed to make his body tremble slightly before he opened his eyes suddenly. Those dark peach blossom eyes stared straight at her.

For a moment, Grace froze. His eyes were tinged with pain.

“What’s come—”

Before she could ask him, he got up and hugged her hard.

Grace could not help asking, “Jay, are you having another headache?”

He was silent for a moment before muttering, “Yes, my head’s hurting again…” During the headache, he recalled how he had ordered people to guard her room. Besides the maids, he had also sent many bodyguards to follow her whenever she moved around the mansion.

Although she was pregnant, he had gone beyond taking the normal extra precautions taken.

It… was as if he was not giving her the slightest chance of leaving him!

‘Was I afraid she would leave?

‘Or… did she want to get away from me? Was that why I a**igned so many people to keep an eye on her?’

However, when he tried to give it further thought, his head hurt like countless needles were stabbing his brain, preventing him from thinking further.

“Have you taken your medicine?” Grace asked quickly, knowing that Dr. Guzman had prescribed him medicine to relieve his headaches.

“I don’t want to take them,” he said.

“But you’ll be in pain for a long time.”

“Grace, I want to regain those lost memories. I want to remember everything about us,” he said.

“It’s alright even if you don’t remember. At least we’re together now, right? I told you, I can tell you about the things you can’t remember.”

“So you don’t care about the memories you don’t remember?”

As soon as he spoke, she fell silent. She knew he was referring to the memory of her leaving the Reed family and falling into the sea.

Although she did not remember, she had gotten a general idea from Terrence. Jay just… had no idea about it.

His eyes stared at her as if he was observing her reaction.

She took a deep breath and said to him, “All that matters to me is our present time together. I would like to remember my past with you if it’s a good memory. If they’re bad memories, then I’d rather forget about them.”

“You’d rather forget?” he muttered.

“Yes, I would,” she said. She would rather not recall those painful memories. Perhaps she would not realize how intense the pain was if she could not remember.

After a pause, Grace raised her hand and caressed Jason’s face. “Jay, if you really want to recover your memories, why let nature take its course? Don’t do it at the expense don’t you of your health. All that matters to me is that you keep living.”

Suddenly, Jason felt another sharp pain in his head.

‘Keep living…’ When the words came out of her mouth, his heart seemed to be pressed by countless heavy boulders. He could not breathe.

“How can I keep living if you’re gone…” the words just blurted out of his mouth.

Even he was stunned when he said it.

‘Why would I say something like that? Besides… it was as if I had said it countless times.

‘When did I say that? Was it after she fell into the sea?’ However, his head hurt even more when he desperately wanted to think about it.

His face grew paler. Large beads of sweat broke out on his forehead while moans spilled from his mouth.

Grace hurriedly said, “I’ll go get you your medicine. We’ll talk after you take them!” With that said, she turned around to fetch the medicine when his arms tightened around her.

“Jay, let go. I’ll go get the medicine for you or your headache will worsen,” she said hurriedly.

“Don’t go. I don’t want you to go!” At this moment, he looked like a drowning man who was desperately trying to hold on to the only piece of driftwood.

“I’m just getting your medicine,” she explained.

However, it was as if he did not hear her. He pushed her onto the bed and kissed her repeatedly. He pushed their bodies closer together as though this was the only way to make him feel that she was right beside him.

‘Why did she still want to leave me when she said she had forgiven me?

‘Is there another reason for this? Did I do something else later to annoy her? Or… did she hate me so much that she lied about forgiving me?

‘Perhaps she was only willing to stay with me because her memory hadn’t recovered.

‘If she recovered her memory one day, would she still want to stay by my side?”
