Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family
Horace knew he could count on the boss, “And after the surgery?”
“I’ll get you out.”
Horace was moved once again. With such a great boss, he would lay down his life in any emergency to ensure the boss got away first.
They arrived at the hospital. Sean was already waiting in the VIP ward.
As Horace followed his boss into the room, he saw Steward and a dozen of his men on high alert, wary of their every move.
“You really are full of surprises, daring to pull a fast one right in front of me,” Sean said from his hospital bed, exuding an air of menacing nonchalance despite his pale lips.
Mirabella remained cool and collected, “You’re naturally suspicious. I had no choice but to slip the drug into my own drink.””You were sure I’d swap with you?”
“Yes.”
Steward, who was standing aside, was utterly shocked. He hadn’t expected it was really this girl who had tampered with the drink.
How had she dared to do that? Despite the many eyes watching last night, she had uncorked and poured the drink in one fluid motion, and even upon reflection, Steward couldn’t pinpoint when she had slipped the drug into the drink.
This young lady was truly inscrutable. Sean smirked roguishly, intrigued by her, “Weren’t you afraid of drinking that glass yourself?”
“I have the antidote.”
Sean chuckled again, impressed by the young woman’s audacity.
“So, now you want to buy the island from me for 5 million?” Sean’s gaze settled on her.
She initially offered 40 million dollars.
“Doesn’t Sean’s life worth 35 million to you?” Steward had never expected this gutsy young woman to haggle so fiercely. In all his time, besides Sean, he’d never met anyone with such nerve.
“Once I’ve recovered, not even wings could you help you fly away,” Sean carried a warning, a smile played on his lips the entire time.
“Good luck catching me first.” Upon saying this, Mirabella asked in a casual manner, “Can we proceed with the surgery now?”
The audacity of this girl seemed to catch everyone off guard; every bodyguard in the room was a mix of shock and awe.
Who in the world was she?
To be so daring in front of Sean.
Steward glanced at Sean and, seeing no sign of disapproval, warned Mirabella in a low voice, “If you do any tricks, it won’t be just you at risk—everyone you care about also won’t make it out alive.”
“Don’t worry, Steward. I said I’d save him, I will see it through to the very end.”
“How sure are you?”
“One hundred percent.”
Steward scoffed to himself. Even world-renowned surgeons wouldn’t dare to claim a one-hundred-
percent success rate for their surgeries, yet this girl, of unknown origin, was making such a bold claim.
“I’m not confident in your medical skills. We’ve got a few doctors here who’ll join you in the OR.””Great, I would certainly need a couple of assistants.”
She had referred to world-class surgeons as mere assistants.
Could this young woman be too arrogant?
Right then, the few several esteemed doctors knocked and entered the room.
“Sean.”
They each bowed slightly. One of them caught a sight of Mirabella, and her expression lit up with utter astonishment, even joy.
“Dr. Bell, you’re here?”
This title not only surprised Sean but Steward as well.
“Dr. Bell? Can it be really you? Sean brought you in to perform the surgery. That means, we’re set for success!”
Mirabella, unaware of who the admirer was, simply stated, “I need two assistants for the surgery.”
“Could I be one of them? I’ve always admired your expertise, could I have the honor of being part of your team?” Dr. Anne volunteered eagerly, her admiration for Mirabella evident. “And this is Doreen, she’s also a well-known surgeon.”
“Both of you will do. Get the patient to the OR and show me to the scrubs room.”
“Doreen, I’ll take Dr. Bell to get ready, and you take Sean to the OR.” Anne immediately switched to fangirl mode and quickly led Mirabella to change into surgery attire.
The revelation that the gutsy young woman was Dr. Bell left everyone in a state of shock.Horace then boasted, “Now you see who our boss is, right? I told you before, so many big shots have been trying to get our boss to operate, but she’s too busy to bother. The fact that she could conveniently save “your” Sean, that is Sean’s good fortune.”
Steward was about to lose his temper.
“Hey, don’t forget, your Sean’s life will soon be in our boss’s hands. Be nice to me! I skipped breakfast to bring our boss over for Sean’s surgery.”
Steward didn’t expect Horace to be so cheeky, but considering the upcoming surgery, he had no choice but to instruct his men to fetch Horace some breakfast.
Horace, with a smug and triumphant smile, added, “Operating is hard work, make sure to buy our boss something extra.”
Steward endured again and signaled his men to follow through.
Meanwhile, the man on the sickbed, upon hearing the young woman was Dr. Bell, recalled how the usually aloof and reserved Anne instantly turned into an adoring fan in her presence.
Heh, this young woman, not only skilled in combat and driving, but she’s also Dr. Bell.
Dr. Anne briefed Mirabella about Sean’s condition, and concluded with a cautionary note, “From a medical perspective, the surgery would necessitate opening Sean’s heart, but what we concern is the risk of a sudden and massive hemorrhage during the operation. Given Sean’s prominent status, we wouldn’t risk proceeding with surgery without a 70-to-80-percent likelihood of success.”
“But now, with Dr. Bell on board, it’s like a weight has been lifted.” Dr. Anne said with a relieved smile.
“Dr. Bell, do you think we could make a minor incision near the bullet without fully opening up the chest, so that we could extract the bullet with minimal risk?” Dr. Anne asked, seeking guidance with genuine respect.
“The bullet has been there for months, and it’s already embedded itself in the heart tissue. A full thoracotomy is a must.” Dr. Bell replied with authority.
Before Dr. Bell’s arrival, Anne and her team would never have dreamed of performing such a risky operation on Sean.
But with Dr. Bell, Dr. Bell was just like their lighthouse in a storm.
Anne believed that today, Sean would definitely be snatched from the jaws of death!
Soon after, the lights of the operating theater came on.
In a newly opened VIP suite, Horace lay in his hospital bed, popping grapes into his mouth and spitting out the seeds for Sean’s bodyguards to catch.
“Catch every single one,” he drawled with a smirk. “If any drop on the floor and I become even slightly annoyed, one call from me, and Sean’s done for,” he said, mimicking the gesture of snapping a neck. The bodyguards tensed, their eyes fixed on Horace, hands clutching disposable bowls, not daring to let their guard down for even a second.
Inside the OR.
After Dr. Doreen had administered the anesthesia to Sean, Dr. Anne sterilized the surgical area, and Mirabella made a precise and swift incision into the patient’s chest, forming a cross-shaped cut in the heart.
The OR was under surveillance, so when Steward saw the scene unfold, he was transfixed with shock.
He couldn’t believe that the girl, apparently no older than a teenager, possessed such quick and accurate surgical skills. Her eyes, brimming with confidence and clarity, seemed as if they had seen countless high-stakes situations. Not for a moment did she exhibit hesitation, even when operating on a patient of such high status.
She was composed, calm, like a veteran doctor with decades of practice, orchestrating the surgery with effortless grace.
As Mirabella articulated complex medical jargon, directed the operation in seamless concert with two world-renowned physicians, and placed her skillful hands on Sean, Steward realized how fortunate they were in having Dr. Bell conducting the surgery…
He never imagined that the elusive Dr. Bell they had spent months seeking was right before their eyes.
It felt like stumbling upon what you were looking for right under your nose.
Remembering how the young girl had awed them from her very first appearance, outboxing professional fighters, outsprinting professional racers, and now outmatching professional doctors in their craft. This girl was truly extraordinary, a marvel to behold.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Steward turned to find Derrick Finn, a young man of considerable stature, walking into the room.
The Finn family influence was far and wide, both at home and abroad, with a vast array of businesses, one of which was this Hospital, a property owned by Derrick.
“Mr. Finn,” Steward greeted him with due respect.
Derrick nodded slightly, his gentle demeanor and radiant smile enhanced by the gold-rimmed glasses upon his nose, lending him an air of both innocence and allurement.
“I heard Sean was undergoing surgery at my hospital and I wanted to personally see to the matter.”
From the monitor, the lead surgeon’s clear, confident gaze, along with her commanding aura, stirred his curiosity.
“Is she the doctor you guys have brought with you?” His gaze focused on the surveillance screen, which shows a clear image of a pretty young woman. “How old is she? She can lead a surgery already?”
“She’s Dr. Bell,” Steward informed him.
“The famous, elusive Dr. Bell? She’s just a girl?” Derrick was intrigued. So many had assumed Dr. Bell was some elder.
