Seeing her in deep sleep, Emma shook her head, “The poor thing cried so much…”
Her eyes were swollen like walnuts.
But, this was a normal reaction from a woman and Emma was aware that love could help a person mature quickly. Hence, even though Emma’s heart ached a little, she did not intervene.
Soon…the sun fully rose. Yadanar sat up drowsily from her bed and noticed a phone sitting on the bedside table that looked exactly the same as the one she had. That’s right…it was exactly the same!
Yadanar rushed out of the room with a head of messy hair. Seeing Emma preparing breakfast, she asked, “Emma, where did this phone come from?”
“‘Someone’ delivered it last night,” Emma replied casually.
“Did he leave without saying anything?”
“He told me not to disturb your sleep and to let you get some proper rest,” Emma said before she walked out of the kitchen with Eric’s breakfast.
But, Yadanar’s heart raced faster and faster, like the beat of a drum.
Last night, she was overcome by complex emotions, but today, because of one simple action by Zephaniah, all her problems disappeared.
Love…
…a thing without reason; something that had no rules nor explanations.
“Are you sure that you want to attend the studio with that face of yours? Your assistant has been waiting for you…” Emma returned to the kitchen a moment later and pointed to the guest sitting in the living room.
Yadanar turned and looked at Little Seven before she quickly returned to her room and tidied herself up. She then approached Little Seven and said, “Let’s go.”
“You’re not having breakfast?” Emma asked as she crossed her arms.
“Nope…” How could she possibly have the appetite?
However, Zephaniah knew that she had a habit of skipping breakfast, so he instructed Little Seven to bring her food. But, Little Seven waited until they boarded the van before she handed it to her, “Mr. An bought this for you.”
As she looked at the breakfast, Yadanar’s eyes suddenly turned red. She had runaway so recklessly last night when the incident wasn’t even Zephaniah’s fault.
Over the course of one night, she had thought a lot.
She relied on Zephaniah too much. If one day, he was to leave, would she struggle to even stand up?
“Miss Chen, would you like to return home first? Or head to the studio?”
“Let’s go straight to the studio,” Yadanar replied. Zephaniah had done so much for her, hoping that she’d improve and grow. So, she couldn’t disappoint him.
Little Seven was a little surprised, but she still obeyed Yadanar’s orders and drove straight to the studio.
Yadanar did not contact Zephaniah straight away because she still needed time to reflect on herself.
Of course, Zephaniah was in no rush to contact her either. After all, he knew every activity she had scheduled and knew exactly where she was.
In order to give her a surprise that night, he did not call to check on her status nor did he remind her to behave.
After an entire day of work, Yadanar put in more effort than ever before. As she left, she glanced at her watch; it was already 9pm.
“Should I take you home?” Little Seven suggested.
Yadanar was fairly tired, so she nodded her head. It was time to face the inevitable. There were plenty of things that she wanted to say to Zephaniah.
Soon, the van arrived outside Zephaniah’s apartment. Yadanar bid Little Seven farewell and headed up to the apartment by herself. She originally thought that Zephaniah wasn’t home yet. But, to her surprise, Zephaniah was sitting in the living room with Mother Yun and Father Yun. The scene in front of her was both ridiculous, yet harmonious.
It was almost like they were a family and she was just an outsider.
With this thought, Yadanar wanted to turn and leave. But, Zephaniah directly said to her, “Come here…”
Yadanar was a little stunned. But, under Zephaniah’s soothing gaze, she ended up walking obediently to his side and sat down. Father Yun and Mother Yun did not look pleased as they immediately asked, “What is the meaning of this? Did you call us over to show off your affection?”
“Back when you were dating Sabrina, you promised that you’d never fall for another person.”
“Auntie, you need to have a basis to your words,” Zephaniah refuted.
“Sabrina’s not around anymore. Of course you’re going to deny it…”
“For me, if I’ve said something then I’ll admit to it, if not, then I’m not going to pretend that I did. I’m sure my girlfriend believes me,” Zephaniah said before he looked at Yadanar, “Isn’t that right?”
Yadanar nodded firmly.
“See…”
“That’s enough, stop going around in circles. Be honest, what did you call us here for?”
Zephaniah stretched out his arm and wr*pped it around Yadanar. After scanning his eyes across the apartment, he placed a set of keys on the coffee table and said, “This home is currently my most expensive possession. I’ll give it to the both of you. You can live in it if you want, otherwise, selling it is not a bad idea either.”
Father Yun and Mother Yun were stunned as they glanced at each other and asked Zephaniah, “You’re giving your apartment to us? Are you saying that we only want your money?”
“Zephaniah, just because you have your hands on a rich heiress now, have you forgotten the promises you made to our Sabrina…?” Mother Yun began to cry.
“Sabrina is already dead. Did you expect me to spend the rest of my life with her ashes?” Zephaniah’s voice suddenly turned cold. “Not only are you not my birth parents and have no right to intervene with my affairs, this is my life we’re talking about. You’ve already received what you wanted. Isn’t that already enough?”
“Zephaniah, those aren’t very nice things to say…”
“I’m already being polite. You are well aware of what you’ve taken from me over the years. I can accept that you needed to use it for yourselves, but you instead gave everything to your newlywed son. He should be the one that’s taking care of you.”
“I will move out of this apartment as soon as possible. From now on, I hope the two of you can stop clinging on to me.”
In reality, Zephaniah knew these two elders were like vampires s**king him dry. In fact, he knew it for some time.
But, it never bothered him too much because he thought they had a bottom line. However, Yadanar had now been hurt, so he could no longer tolerate them.
“You’re not going to take care of us until we die?”
“You didn’t give birth to me!” Zephaniah growled. “Auntie, a moral person needs to learn some restraint.”
After hearing Zephaniah’s words, Yadanar finally understood what was involved; even the son of the Yun Family relied on Zephaniah to survive. They had a son of their own, yet they didn’t rely on him, instead they clung to Zephaniah just because he was once their daughter’s boyfriend.
Yadanar was aware that Zephaniah was a loyal person. But, she also understood that they had reached his bottom line.
However, Yadanar did not want him to be at a loss anymore.
So, she said to the elders, “Since the two of you won’t accept something as superficial as this apartment, then I’ll take it.”
Hearing this, the other three people in the room froze.
A moment later, Mother Yun yelled angrily, “He already gave it to us…”
“Why should he be giving this to you? Who are you to him?” Yadanar asked. “His money didn’t fly in with the wind. He worked long and hard for it. Why should he just hand it over to you? I don’t care. I’m taking it…”
“You…”
“Zephaniah, you told us that you’d give this apartment to us! Are you going back on your words?” Of course, Mother Yun couldn’t beat Yadanar’s shamelessness, so she turned back to Zephaniah instead.
“Yes, he’s going back on his words. Since no documents have been signed yet, what can you do about it?” Yadanar shielded Zephaniah behind her. “If it wasn’t because the two of you are Sabrina’s parents, I would have kicked you miles away by now. Did you think you’d still have the chance to come here and voice your opinions?”
“Yadanar…”
“Zephaniah, let me tell you, no matter how much of a grudge or debt you owe Sabrina, you’ve already paid it back over the years. You may want to treat someone wholeheartedly, but they need to be grateful in return. So, I would like to ask these two slackers to leave. Nothing in this house has anything to do with you!” Yadanar said as she pointed to the door.
