(Scarlett)

If anyone would have told me that I would be tested with my love for my mate this way then I would have told them that they were foolish to think that either one of us would be falling for such tricks. The man was not only my love, but I knew that I trusted him with everything.

Having heard what Jordan said, and what Alexander asked his father, I knew that he didn’t know of what happened with my family. He didn’t seem to understand why things turned out being the way that they were, But then again, at this point, I didn’t know whether or not to trust my judgement. I could be wrong and he might have known all along, but I knew not to think so, the man seemed genuine with his question. It was his father’s words that took me off guard.

We were in a deep mess, and at this point, I didn’t know how we were going to get out of it. And the thing was, I didn’t know how things were going to turn out. The pack members were already confused and some were even hiding as if it were going to be a war of Alphas. Wars of Alphas often turned out the bloodiest, and to know that this war was one between a father and his son, now that just saddened me more than I could let out.

Especially since I knew that it wasn’t how Alexander grew up looking at his dad.

Katlyn held her mate at gun point to protect her son, and considering that she told me to get our daughter and leave, I knew that things were not going to end well. However, what she meant by leave, I didn’t know. The woman just wanted us to leave everything behind as if it were nothing, and that was something that worried me more than ever. I didn’t even know how Alexander would think of accepting what she said.

This was Alexander’s pack and us leaving would be us abandoning the pack, and that was not something that we wanted. At least, I knew that it was not something that Alexander wanted. The pack wouldn’t be trusting him again, and the last thing that my husband would want was to think that he was abandoning a pack that he spent his years building to what it reached.

I ran toward my daughter’s room, not caring that I was wearing the wedding dress before picking her up. The two nurses who were babysitting her frowned, but seeing the scene outside and sensing the danger, they didn’t need to be told to collect anything for them to do so.

We needed to get to Alexander and now. The man had to be able to leave, otherwise, things were going to grow rough. If anything, they were going to end up being bloody, and I, as his Luna, would be fighting by his side; however, I wasn’t going to let my daughter get into this mess.

I looked at the two nurses who were already preparing the things, understanding that we were to run away before clearing my throat. “If things lead to me going down and fighting alongside my husband, I want you to take Anastasia and leave. Alpha Mathew would end up killing her if we are dead, and I will not forgive any of you if that happened, do you understand me?”

“Luna…”

“If something happens to me or Alexander, then our daughter is in your safety. You have my gold and know where it is, and this is my card, take it and spend whatever it is that you desire. Just promise me that you will keep my daughter safe.” I said, looking the girls in the eye. Both looked at one another, somewhat hesitant before nodding. I knew at this point that money didn’t matter. If we were to flee, I wasn’t going to be able to use the card to begin with. The man would find us in less than a few minutes if that happened.

The fact that I heard what Mathew has done to my family was something that I couldn’t help but despise. The man knew that we had nothing considering that he took everything from me, at least, and yet, he wasn’t even the rightful Alpha, it was me.

I was the Alpha blood of this pack, and instead, I have lived under the shadows, cleaning after those who claimed to be the rightful Alpha and Luna of the pack. It sickened me despite not minding the fact that I was cleaning, it taught me how to be humble and independent. What killed me was the fact that everyone claimed to treat me like a daughter, and those who were members of the pack despised me to the point where even training with them, despite being good, if not better, turned out to them waiting for me to make a mistake for them to just as me to leave.

Sure, I didn’t mind having my mate as Alpha. Me challenging him was the last thing that I would have done; however, at least, I wouldn’t have been treated like I was some mutt that they needed to get rid of. I would have been respected to some point, and yet, I was classified as an omega, thrown to the bottom of the pack as I lived in a house that no one ever visited. “We need to hold her safe as I don’t want her getting in the middle of this,” I said, looking at her nurse who would be coming with me. Of course, that provided that she was able to get out with me. I needed to distract Alpha Mathew and get Alexander’s attention, but judging by the bullet, I knew that Alexander would be frozen between his parents.

He wouldn’t want to hurt his mother, and yet, challenging his father was not something that he ever wanted. It was something that he was completely against, and yet, Alpha Mathew was now not only f*orcing him to challenge him, but was also f*orcing him to choose between him or his mother. Either option would mean the death of the other, and that was something that I didn’t want Alexander dealing with, especially since I knew that Luna Katlyn wouldn’t kill her mate. She loved the man too much for her own good. The main issue would rely on the fact that Alpha Mathew would easily kill her. Love or not, as far as I saw, he was a man of power, and anyone or anything that threatened that power would be executed. It was that way since I was a kid. The number of pack members who were killed, they were not even sent away, for simply stating opinions that they did not like or did not wan to do were countless. It was one of the reasons why Alexander taking the pack as Alpha changed the pack to the better.

At least, with Alexander, the pack knew that they were safe within and outside the pack. Yes, there were our problems, but it was on very rare occasions that these problems went out of the pack. We solved them between one another and chose not to take them the public. The last thing that we needed was allaying packs to know that we had our problems.

It was the fact with Alpha Mathew. The other packs often saw our pack as strong and yet shaky. Strong because we could overtake anything without being afraid. We were fighters and were born to be. It was something that ran in our blood. We would be fighting for our Alpha till the last drop. At least, I knew that I would have fought for Alexander, omega or not, I didn’t look at myself as a rank, and instead, I knew that despite everything that everyone told me that I was as strong as they were, if not even stronger considering that I always tried proving myself to them.

However, during the time of Alpha Mathew, the pack wasn’t one big family and instead, it was a king, his queen, and we would just find ourselves in a bimbo.

The funniest part of it was that they might have you doing the same job a few times to simply prove a point, and that was something that happened whenever the Alpha or Luna simply saw the pack members somewhat resting.

Alexander changed all that despite his parents trying to influence him. The nurse and I ran toward the door and I handed her my car keys, wanting them to go there while I followed my mate’s scent. The man needed to get out of here if he was to live, and I was not going to allow anything to happen to him because his parents were choosing to be reckless and aggressive.

Alexander froze as he saw that his father was bleeding. Neither one of the bullets hit a fatal point, but if this proceeded, I knew that it was only a matter of time before that happened. And when it did, I didn’t want Alexander to be here. He wasn’t a child, but this was not a vision that he should have in his head.

I knew for fact that despite being younger, I still felt the pain of losing my parents.

“Go and protect your daughter and mate, Alexander.” I heard Katlyn call for her son as she held the gun at Alpha Mathew who was laying on the ground. “I know that you two have blood to avenge, and that is something that I want you to do.”

“Mama…”

“NOW, Alexander. If I mean anything to you, then you are to take your wife and daughter and leave. NOW!” Her order was direct, f*orcing Alexander to rush toward me. His eyes met mine, and I could read both his pain, confusion, and fear through his eyes.

“Alexander, your mom…”

“You heard her, we are running to the car…” He said, jumping at the sound of another bullet being fired. He closed his eyes, probably ignoring the clench that he felt in his c*hest. “Now…”
