(Alexander)

I watched as Jordan and Delilah were kicked out of the pack’s ground. Knowing that not only did they ruin the wedding, but that things were going to start getting complicated from here.

Both knew right now that they just threw a bomb and now not only were we f*orced to deal with it, but we knew that it wasn’t going to be ending well for any of us. If anything, I knew that it wouldn’t end well between me and my parents, and that fact alone was something that I couldn’t easily get over.

Scarlett’s issue alone was one thing that I didn’t know how to deal with. If what Jordan said was true, and considering the fact that dad didn’t try to defend anything told me that it was, I knew that things between Scarlett and I were not going to be as normal as I would have hoped that they would be. At least, I hoped that she wouldn’t end up turning against me, and if she did, then I knew that this time, I wouldn’t be able to stop, blame, or question her about it. I was now stuck to the fact that I would hope that she didn’t end up trying to take our daughter and just leaving. That is something that I don’t want to find myself dealing with.

“Tell me that you didn’t know about what your mother did, Alexander.” Dad said, breaking my train of thoughts as I loosened my tie. This was nowhere near being the ideal wedding that I planned for Scarlett, my beauty, and I. His question hit me like a bomb. It was something that I fought Scarlett to keep secret because I knew that dad wouldn’t hesitate to hurt mom when he found out about it. He would be acting on an impulsive instinct, and considering that she was his mate, I wouldn’t have anything to say about it, Alpha or not, he was HER Alpha, and whatever he would decide to do would depend on him. Plus, he was my superior, Alpha or not, he was an Alpha before me, and the fact that he CHOSE to let go of his position told me that things were not going to be easy now.

If anything of what Jordan said was true, then this pack belonged to my wife, and here I was being its Alpha. Just the memory of the struggle that I made her live through at the beginning of our relationship when I first found her made my c*hest ache. And knowing that I broke a lot in her as I knew that she had nothing to even support our daughter when this might all belong to her broke something in me that I couldn’t even describe.

The memories of the woman serving this family to simply share a table with us played in my head, making me feel regret that I never thought that I would be feeling, especially since I knew that she was the one who was supposed to be served instead. She was treated like some pest who was despised, claimed to be the lowest rank of the pack when she was supposed to be the leader.

The fact that everything just happened in front of the whole pack right now only scared me, because I knew that they would be expecting a reaction, and this was one that I couldn’t give right now. I couldn’t end up turning on my own mother, but I knew that I couldn’t let things slide now that they knew about it. Plus, I didn’t even know how I would be dealing with the Scarlett case now that the pack knew who the rightful leader was, at least, if what Jordan said was true.

“The initial question here should be whether or not Jordan said was true about who Scarlett was, and what we have done to her family.” I said, glaring at my dad who growled in warning. I returned the growl, reminding him that I was the Alpha here. He may be angry about what he just heard about mom, but I knew for fact that I wouldn’t allow the man to hurt her.

“Scarlett’s family lost their places as Alpha and Luna when they couldn’t fend for the pack when it was needed. They died, and their line ended. Her parents were lucky enough to have survived and that we were as merciful to allow them to live within the pack as omegas with their daughter.” Dad said coldly. “And the girl grew up alongside you, being raised by the Alpha and Luna of the pack, therefore, I don’t think that she has missed anything…”

“We had her cooking and cleaning for us like some maid…”

“She got what she deserved and a lot better.” Dad said, making me frown at his attitude. The man had claimed to treat her like a daughter for years, and yet, here he was, talking about her as if she owed him something when in fact, we owed her everything. She lost what should have been hers, and yet, he saw it as normal to discriminate her the way that he was doing right now. “In case you forgot, she chose to run away with your daughter. It is something that was done by her choice when she was given the world despite her being an omega. Therefore, rather than you pretending that you are sorry for her, she should be thankful for the mercy that we had toward her.”

“Her parents were killed to save me and my mother…”

“Your mother who not only killed the two of them, but it seems to me like she also killed my parents.” He said, looking me dead in the eye as he stopped me. Now, to say that my heart dropped to my stomach would not be a lie as I saw his anger in his eyes. This was something that I didn’t want him relating to. It was something that I feared for months, and though I did try to keep it hidden. I did fight to do so, it seems to me like it didn’t work out eventually. The secret came out, and that was something that came as alarming to me, especially when I knew that now, I had to do everything to protect my wife, daughter, and mother.

This was the first time that I have seen him in such a state. If anything, my father was always calm and content when it came to his pack members and family, unless he was betrayed. And I knew that right now, he saw mom as a traitor. That was something that I needed to protect her from. Otherwise, I knew that I would end up losing her. He would not think twice to not spare her, and that wasn’t something that I wanted to risk. She might end up giving herself to save us, but I didn’t want to think of losing her to a monster like my father right now.

The man wouldn’t be merciful on her. If anything, he wouldn’t stop until he has killed her. And this was the exact reason why I didn’t tell him when I heard of the news. It only proved to me that he would do anything for the sense of power and revenge, even if it cost his mate and son, and that was something that scared and alarmed both me and my wolf more. If this was the case with mom, then I didn’t know what he would try doing to Scarlett now that she knew who she truly was, and what was taken from her.

At least, if she chose to come and claim for or question it. And knowing her, I knew that she wouldn’t just leave the topic to rot. She would be asking questions, and I wouldn’t be able to blame her or stop her. She had every right to know and understand what and why it happened, but I didn’t know if my father saw it that way or if he cared to begin with.

And judging by what I was seeing now, I knew that not only would he not care, but he would be sure that he made her regret thinking of asking, and that was something that I wanted to prevent.

“And what she did almost cost your life.” He said, his tone colder than it has ever been before. I growled in warning as I tried to stop him; however, the man seemed to be blind as he looked back at the house, not even bothering to look at me.

I didn’t have to look behind me to know that he had his eyes on mom who I knew was frightened. I could hear her heart racing as he went to take a step toward her; however, I put both my hands on his c*hest, stopping him.

“What the f*uck do you think you are doing?” He asked, trying to move from my grip. However, I tightened it around him, stopping him before pushing him back. His eyes widened in surprise and he shook his head in question. The man couldn’t be seriously thinking or considering that I would allow him to hurt my mother. Regardless of what she did, she was still my mother, and I was more than willing to give my life up for her.

“You think of approaching her, and this is an Alpha war. And I know for fact that the last thing that you want to get in right now is a war with your own son.” I said, trying to talk some sense into him. The man didn’t stop though, and instead of taking a step back like I expected him to, he punched me in the face, taking me off guard.

He grabbed me by my shirt’s collar before hitting me with his forehead, sending me backwards before I could even process what was happening. I could feel blood dripping from my forehead, but now, I didn’t care. I didn’t want him approaching the house in this state of anger. It was a state that would have him killing anyone and everything that was around him, and that would cost us more bad than good. Something that I was well aware Jordan and Delilah wanted. Both weren’t here to watch us celebrate. They were both here to watch this pack crumble, and as much as it sickened me, it pained me to know that they got part of what they wanted.

My hands shook and he let out a low growl before he returned it. “Do you think that you have the experience to beat your father, boy?”

I growled and moved from the man’s arms before punching him in the face. His eyes widened in surprise before he shook his head at me. His expression colder than I have ever seen it when he looked at me. I raised my hand to push him away; however, he gripped my hand in his and squeezed it, breaking my knuckles in a second. “You chose to play a very dangerous game, Alexander.” Dad said, his eyes turning into a deep shade of red. “The fire was something that I tried my best to find the cause of. However, it seems to me that you and your mother are on the scandal.”

I had to stop myself from doing something impulsive as I realized that the man was completely losing his mind. I was a toddler when things happened, and yet, not only was he blaming me for it, he was going to kill his mate for it. The man’s canine’s bared as he threatened to bite and kill me. I went to stop him only to frown when a gun was shot on his arm, taking him off guard. His eyes widened in surprise, and looking up, I could catch mom’s scent from behind me.

“Don’t you dare approach my boy, Mathew…”

“You…”

“If you have the guts for it, come and face me, Alpha…” she said coldly, “I dare you to…”
