Filed To Story: The Alpha's Betrayal and Promise Novel
(Scarlett)
I frowned in confusion as the man approached us, holding a gun in his hand, glaring daggers at both Alexander and I.
Alexander stayed calm despite his racing heart, and I couldn’t help but find myself fearing what would be happening from here, especially when I saw that Delilah was looking at me with a cold smile on her l*ips. The woman knew what she was doing, and if anything, she was doing this to ruin not only the marriage, but she was fighting to ruin this whole family.
It was an act of revenge, and I wasn’t stupid as not to read through it, but I didn’t know the extent that she was willing to carry this to. However, judging by the way that she was looking at both Alexander and I, I could tell that she was willing to go all the way, and that fact alone scared the life out of me.
“Jordan,” Alexander said, looking at the Alpha whose eyes met his. Delilah stood a step behind him, her eyes wide as her heart raced. She looked down at the wedding dress that I was wearing and shook her head as tears fell from her eyes the second the man, Jordan, looked at her. The woman was an actress, and that was something that both Alexander and I knew very well. She always knew how to play Alexander, and though he didn’t often see it. I always did. The woman had played him to losing a lot, and that was something that we all saw. It was just sad that he didn’t see it. At least, if he did, he never showed it.
“You chose to marry a mud blood who was supposed to be an exile, didn’t you? The omega who you cheated on my daughter with.” He stated coldly. My heart raced against my ribcage as I looked a the man who had his eyes on me. The disgust that the man had in both his expression and tone made me feel small. But the fact that he was addressing me as an exile surprised me, especially when I knew that I was never one. If I left and ran, it was based on MY own choices, I was not f*orced to do so, and when I did choose to come back, I was thankfully welcome with open arms. “Now, I don’t think that your husband ever told you about this part. Maybe you think that things only settled to him wanting to kill you…”
Jordan’s words felt like stab in the gut as the guests around us gasped in surprise. It was something that I knew and tried to forget. I did try to digest it for months, and though I did somewhat forget about it, the man made the whole feeling resurface, and that was something that I neither liked or appreciated, especially since I knew his dark motives around what he was currently doing. “He wanted nothing more than to be with my daughter, and for that, he planned on giving her yours after you died. Now, if that is not enough, I believe that it is time for the pack to know the number of secrets that you are all choosing to hide within this pack. You know, a home is something, but you all reek when it comes to the stench of the pack’s secrets.”
Jordan’s eyes were fixed on mine for a few seconds before he turned to Alpha Mathew who stood by his son’s side. I stayed quiet, unsure of where things were going to go with this conversation; however, I wasn’t stupid to think that it would go anywhere pleasant. I could tell that Jordan wasn’t here to simply enjoy the wedding with us. If anything, I could tell that he didn’t want US enjoying the wedding. Much like his daughter who seemed to be enjoying this more than anyone here. If anything, I couldn’t expect any less. I knew that it was only a matter of time before she came back, I just didn’t know when that would happen. Her broken self was not a game that I fell for, and wouldn’t be one that I would fall for. Especially when I knew that Alexander didn’t end this with her on any good terms at all.
“You know, Scarlett, when you chose to fend for this pack, I was somewhat surprised. I know for fact that you don’t have the best of pasts with this house. You know, your mate not only rejected you, but a man like him who has cheated on his mate with you is not a man that you as a woman should be able to trust; however, judging by the fact that you may not even know the past of this pack to begin with, how they came to be who they are, I do not blame you.” Alpha Jordan said, and Mathew let out a low warning growl. Alexander looked at his father who shook his head at the man. However, Alpha Jordan simply chuckled in response. He knew that he was hitting me with something that broke me, and for him to be doing it as publically as he was, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat small as I wanted the ground beneath me to somehow sink and drain me with it.
“This pack’s secrets and history would be remaining within the pack…”
“But considering the fact that she is the rightful Alpha of the pack, do believe that she has every right to know the reality of things, don’t you think, Mathew?” Alpha Jordan asked, making me frown in confusion. Alexander tensed and looked at his father before I took a step forward, moving from Katlyn’s tight grip as I looked at the man who looked down at his feet, avoiding my eyes. “Not only did your pack take her parents’ life, but you also had them abandoned as omegas, refusing to give them the peace that they deserved. Then, to make matters worse, your mate chose to kill them…”
“My mate did not kill…”
“Oh, but she did.” Alpha Jordan said, stopping Alpha Mathew from speaking. “She did just like you and your father killed her grandparents with no remorse. And rather than giving them the freedom of leaving, you chose to make them live in an exile as omegas who were the lowest of rankings within the pack when in truth, the woman had Alpha’s blood in her system.”
Alpha Mathew seemed to zone the man out as he looked at the woman, his mate, trying to process what the man said. My parents have died in the same fire that his parents died in, and for that to happen, it would only mean that she was behind their deaths.
The woman looked down at her feet, avoiding his eyes as her heart raced. I knew that Alpha Mathew was not the type to hurt a woman, it was not in his demeanor to do so. But judging by his current glare, I didn’t know how things were going to go.
“You almost killed our son?” He asked, his tone colder than it had ever been. My heart raced against my c*hest at the fact that I was born an Alpha and yet, I was often f*orced to either cook or clean for the pack simply because I was an omega.
Sure, I had to admit, I had more rights within the pack than most of the pack members. But I always believed that it was because I was raised with Alexander. Whether or not the two of us had our conflicts when we grew older did not make a difference.
It was the reality of things had made a difference, and that was something that I personally held onto. I didn’t know how Alexander felt about it, but I knew for fact that I was well aware that it was taking him everything to hold on right now.
The last thing he wanted was to see his mom dealing with such a situation. And seeing as I could tell that he was avoiding my eyes, I knew that he knew about what Jordan said and either chose or was f*orced to hide it from me. “Mathew, it was never in my intentions…”
“Father, that is enough.” Alexander said, using his Alpha’s order on his own father. Mathew froze for a second, knowing that defying him could mean fata consequences. And though I knew that Alexander was not the type to put his parents in such a loop, I knew that this being watched by the other pack members was not going to help. What Jordan just did was not only put himself and his parents in a difficult situation, but he did it in front of others to make sure that they saw them. He wanted them to know of what happened, and what better way to do it instead of a pack’s wedding, right?
Mathew went to respond to his son before a low growl escaped Alexander. It was one of warning, one to let him know to stand down. The woman was barely able to stand on her feet as her hands and l*egs shook in fear. Her heart raced against her ribcage but she still held her ground, avoiding her mate’s eyes.
This was going to be one hell of a long night for us. I personally still needed to understand what he was referring to when he mentioned my family. Surely the man wasn’t serious and this pack, the place that I called for years wasn’t just a lie to me, right?
I looked at Luna Katlyn whose eyes avoided mine, making my breath get caught in my throat as I tried fighting back the urge to growl. My air felt tight in my throat, and I had to admit, this was not how I ever imagined my wedding night would be. If anything, I didn’t even think that I would end up hating the night as much as I was right now.
“Scarlett, please take mom inside and wait for us to come…”
“Alexander…”
“All of you, inside now, I do not want to see any of the women outside the house, do you all understand me?”
