“You may now k*iss the bride” I wrapped my arm around Scarlett and k*issed her as if my life depended on it, and at this point, at times, I believed that it did.
Her arms wrapped around my n*eck as she deepened the k*iss, and lowering her to the ground, I found myself smiling into the k*iss before I could stop myself.
The two of us pulled away to look one another in the eye, and removing the veil off her head completely, I ran my finger through her hair, gently pulling on her hair roots, making her purr.
Her wolf who has allowed her to shift for the first time two nights ago was more than happy and excited for the two of us to be finally together. Officially together, no problems needed and no issues there.
Scarlett’s eyes met mine and the smile on her face told me that she was just as thankful as I was.
The struggles that the two of us have been through were more than enough to break anyone in our place, and the two of us were thankful that we somehow managed to break free from them. Delilah, who was the initial problem between the two of us was finally out of our lives as she left the city. Where she had gone, no one knew. But her father had come to us first, believing that she had fled to us again; however, when he found out that she was not here, he realized that she had fled to escape his anger.
When she went, or how she went unnoticed, no one knew. But either way, I was honestly thankful that she managed to get out of there alive. At least I knew that she could rebuild her life properly. And that was something that she never tried doing when she was with me.
The woman wanted ME to rebuild it for her, and when that didn’t work out; she found herself collapsing, and that was not something that I wanted her to deal with. She shouldn’t be looking for someone to build her life for her, and if anything, I knew that she could build her own life for herself, she just had to really want it to do so. A woman like her could do good for herself, a lot of good. All she needed to do was put in the efforts and time.
At least now, while alone, I knew that she could manage her time in accordance, and hopefully, she wouldn’t be wasting her time on stupidity that would lead to her death.
Scarlett smiled at me, and running my fingers over her cheek, I gently pulled her closer to me as the two of us looked at one another. I was more than blessed to have my angel by my side, and her accepting me alone was more than enough for my heart to skip a beat. The way she looked at me, spoke to me, loved me, and even tried to make our family grow was something that I would never forget. Her calling mom to tell her that she did not need to worry about her harming her was something that I would forever remember, and seeing as she didn’t know how much it meant to me what she did, I knew that I was going to make sure to remind her of it.
Flashback:
“You called for me, Alpha?” Mom asked, entering the house. She knew that the two of us were still not talking after what happened, and catching sight of Scarlett, she frowned in confusion as she motioned for her to take a seat. “Actually, it was me who called for you” Scarlett said, making mom frown in confusion “the two of us need to settle this issue once and for all, and the last thing that I want to do is harm you. Therefore, you need to rest assured that I wouldn’t…”
“What?” Mom asked, frowning in confusion. I couldn’t blame her, even I was confused when Scarlett told me about it. But I wouldn’t deny loving her even more after hearing her words. The way she looked at me, and the way she spoke only told me how big her heart was. The love that she had for me was one that I would never be able to deny, and the adoration that I had for her was one that I would forever be grateful for. “I understand that you wanted to enf*orce your rules as Luna. Maybe you were getting too tired of being controlled, or maybe you just wanted your peace with your mate. But I know that the last thing you wanted was to hurt my parents. Your issue was not with them, and though I do not approve of the method that you took, as a mother, I cannot blame you for wanting to protect your child” Scarlett said, looking at mom whose eyes were wide in surprise as her heart raced. She looked at my mate, studying her expression for a second before my mate smiled in assurance. “Not only are you my mate’s mother and my baby’s nana, but you’re also the woman who has raised me. Let’s face it, I had no one and would have had no one had it not been for you and Alpha Mathew; therefore, if I am thankful for one thing, it is because you had the kind heart to raise me the way that you did. You didn’t have to, I realized that now. You were never f*orced to take an infant into your home when you had your own baby, and you were not f*orced to put me in the best of schools, nor were you f*orced to give me an allowance, and yet, you did all that for me; therefore, if anything, I am very grateful for you” Scarlett said, looking at me. My heart skipped a beat, and taking my hand in hers, she intertwined our fingers and gently squeezed my hand “you are my mate’s mother, and the last thing I want is the two of you fighting. Yes, the information that you learned, Alex might have been h*ard, and I know that you, Luna Katelyn, are still ashamed of your son; but I am here, and as the daughter of those parents I want you two to forgive one another…”
“Now, I know, you might think that I have completely lost it, but I have not. If anything, I want you to be happy, Alexander, because I know that you are not. Since losing your mum, you have not been happy and you have not been yourself; however, you stood strong to your morals and fought to protect her by keeping her secret. Well, the secret was not one that included you alone, and I for one who have been harmed forgive her” she said, looking at mom whose heart raced “I never had my parents, and even when they did die, they died as heroes and will forever be remembered as so. Believe me, it is something that I value more than anything. To know that my parents gave their life for others is something that I value. Second, me getting angry right now would change nothing. They died twenty years ago, almost, and the two of us, as a family, have been through a lot more than twenty years worth of anger…”
“Yes, it hurts, and I know that it might always hurt. But that doesn’t mean that I cannot live with the pain. That pain brought me my family. My daughter, my mate, and my pack. Each one of us has been through a short set of pain, and that pain was one that neither one of us thought they could handle; however, here we are, each one of us handling their own pains. Each one of us loving one another as a family, willing to take a bullet for one another” she said, making my heart skip a beat “and that is not something that I want you two changing. Yes, we are going to go through more hell than we could handle sometimes, but isn’t that why we are wolves? You know, to be able to handle that?”
Mom stayed quiet as tears filled her eyes, and standing from the couch, Scarlett walked toward mom and wrapped her arms around her. Mom’s heart raced as a sob broke from her l*ips before she could stop it. My heart ached, but I was sure to stay in my place, giving them the minute to try and sort this out together.
“I am so sorry, Scarlett. For what I did to you, for…”
Scarlett k*issed her forehead, whispering soothing words, but her next words were what made my heart skip a beat as tears formed in my eyes as I got up from my chair.
“You are my mother. The woman that raised and fed me as a child, how the hell would I be upset with you after all this time? You didn’t give birth to me, but you took care of me, raised me, and stayed up late with me like any mother would do to her own child, so, what more could I have asked from you?” she asked as she smiled at mom. Her eyes which were softer than a mom’s would be on her baby met mine and I nodded, walking toward my mom whose eyes softened.
I wrapped my arms around her before she could say a word, hugging her tightly. She k*issed my cheeks and I smiled before k*issing her forehead, the crown of her head, then both her cheeks, missing her t*ouch. Scarlett, who was quiet as she watched, smiled at me as my eyes met hers, and silently thanking her, she simply nodded at me.
“I am so sorry for what I did, mom” I whispered to her “you are my mom, and I should be protecting you rather than just judging you. Therefore, I am so f*ucking sorry…” End of Flashback.
“So, it seems like despite us not needing to be married, we both managed to do this anyway” she teased, making me chuckle as the two of us slow danced.
“Yes, and next up, you are going to sign the shares paper. You are going to accept it as a gift from me to you for simply being my wife” I said, making her laugh. She shook her head at me, and laying her head on my shoulder, I could hear her sighing in contentment as she took a deep slow breath.
“Sure, I will sign it” she said, making me smile “now that I am your wife, I think that I can sign such weird documents”
“It is your shares in the company, what is weird about that?” I asked, chuckling at her genuine question. Her eyes met mine and I smiled, running my finger through her hair. “I have never pictured myself having shares at the company, come on” she said and I smiled. “Well, now, Neonata, you will have the world. I give you my word on that” I whispered, smiling at my beauty “all you have to do is be happy…”
I leaned in to k*iss my beauty only to frown at the scent that hit my nostrils. It was the smell of blood, and the sound of gunfire that filled the air behind us made both Scarlett and I frown in confusion before turning to face the voice. “Well, well, well, did you really think that it would be this easy, Alexander?”
