Most truths were cruel, but maybe she would face something crueler afterward.

Her eyelashes trembled slightly, and her hands tightly gripped the thin blanket that covered her body. After a long time, she opened her eyes and looked at Jason again. “You only helped me reverse my case because you didn’t want me to find out the truth, right? So you found Dexter Rios and made me think that was the truth to everything?”

Jason’s body shook a little, and he slowly walked toward Grace.

The closer he got, the tighter she gripped the sheets. Finally, he stood at the bedside and half-knelt before her. “I’m sorry. I thought it was the best way to close the case.”

He never thought he would say sorry so many times!

However, these days, he had apologized countless times. When she was awake, and… sound asleep…

“Why did you lie to me?” She took a deep breath, her voice growing louder. “You didn’t have to find the truth and investigate the case for me, but why did you lie to me? Why did you make me think Dexter Rios was the real perpetrator? Why cover up for Lily?”

Her every question was mercilessly slashing on his chest like the sharpest blade, making him feel so much pain.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry…” Jason raised his chin slightly and apologized with a humble gesture. “I was afraid at that time. I was afraid that you would leave me when you found out the truth, but I was also afraid that you’d keep looking into the matter. It was the only way I could give you justice and clear your name!”

Grace smiled wryly and only felt her nose feeling intensely sore. “Is this the way you love someone? Do you love me by deceiving me?”

“Grace, will you forgive me? I’ll make Lily go to jail, I’ll make the Atkinson family face the law, and I… I can go to prison as well. I can go through what you’ve been through…” He sobbed.

At this moment, he was no longer Emerald City’s Master Reed but 3/3 a pitiful man begging for her forgiveness.

‘Forgive…’ Grace stared blankly at Jason. He was kneeling in front of her with pain and remorse on his face, but… ‘How can I ever forgive him? The truth came too late.’

It was too late and she had already suffered too much. She had even firmly believed the truth he gave her.

‘But I’ve found out now that he knew all about my sufferings! If… I hadn’t found him after my release from prison and if he had not fallen in love with me, what would have become of me?’

Grace’s silence made Jason grab her hand in a hurry. His hand was cold and slightly trembling. When he took her hand, it was as if he were clinging desperately to a piece of driftwood.

It was as if he could not let go no matter what, and he would drown if he did.

“Grace, didn’t you say you would forgive me no matter what mistakes I make? You said you’d forgive me as long as I cried.

Then I’ll cry. I’ll cry, okay? I can cry however long you want me to and I’ll shed however many tears you want me to shed. Please forgive me.”

He said. The tears were welled up in his eyes and streaked down his handsome face.

Grace only felt something blocking her heart and it felt uncomfortable.

She never thought she would see him cry under such circumstances.

His tears flowed down his cheeks, dripping on their hands, burning badly.

Her other hand, which was not held by him, could not help moving toward his face. However, as her hand touched his tear-soaked face, a long-lost queasy feeling came over her.

Grace immediately covered her lips and pushed Jason away. She ran to the bathroom, leaned over the sink, and threw up.

She had not thrown up like this for a long time since getting over

her morning sickness, but now, she was throwing up like she was going to throw up everything in her stomach.

“Grace!” Seeing Grace throwing up like this, Jason instantly panicked. He subconsciously raised his hand and touched Grace’s back, hoping to soothe her and make her feel comfortable.

However, when his hand touched her back, she threw up even more.

“Don’t… Don’t touch me…” Grace finally caught her breath, raised her hand, and pushed Jason’s hand away.

When he was no longer touching her, she slowly stopped vomiting.

Grace looked up with a pale face and wiped her mouth. She oked at Jason. Her almond-shaped eyes seemed to sparkle with nint of sarcasm, mocking both him and herself.

Her lips parted slowly, and he suddenly seemed to have guessed something. His face turned horribly grim.

‘Don’t say it… Don’t say it!’

He was screaming frantically in his heart, but he still heard her say with a miserable laugh, “Even if I… can tell you that I forgive you, but… my body can’t seem to do it. Tell me, what should I do…

What should I do…”

When the doctor and nurses left, Grace looked at Jason who was still standing in the ward.

He stood not far from the bedside and seemed to be surrounded by loneliness and despair.

Grace pressed her lips together and said, “After the babies are born, I… want to move out of Reed Residence.”

Jason immediately looked up at her with astonishment and panic on his face. “You want to… move out of Reed Residence?”

She said, “Yeah. It’s because I don’t know how to face you. Maybe moving out of Reed Residence will be better for both of us.”

e could have given a lot of excuses to justify his behavior then. For example, she could have said that he did not really know her back then and she was just a nobody to him. How could he have sympathized with a nobody when he had always been indifferent? It would explain how he just looked on without getting involved…

She could come up with more than one excuse but could not convince herself.

She was brought up to believe in justice, which was why she chose to become a lawyer who would fight for righteousness and justice with the law as her weapon.

However, the person she loved most had been so indifferent as to let her get wrongfully imprisoned.

That imprisonment almost changed her life. Perhaps only time could soothe… the pain and agony.

“What do you mean by it’s better for us? I’ll never think that it’d be better for us if you move out of Reed Residence!” said Jason as he quickly stepped forward and walked to the bedside. His hands subconsciously wanted to grab her but stopped when they were about to touch her.

His hands were only a few centimeters from her shoulders. If he moved just a little closer, he could have touched her. However, the short distance between them seemed like millions and millions of meters to him.

e image of her throwing up and the way her body had trembled were so vividly imprinted in his mind.

“Then, just a**ume that it’s for my sake… After I discharge, I want to stay elsewhere. Help me look for a small apartment. Preferably somewhere near the hospital, so that it would be convenient for me to go for check-ups,” said Grace.

Since she could not face him right now, then they should just both calm down first. What mattered most for her now was the babies in her belly. She must make sure that the babies come into the world safely.

However, only one possibility occurred to him when she said so.

“Are you planning to divorce me?” The hoarse voice came out of his mouth with a faint quiver.

Grace was stunned. ‘Di-Divorce?’

She did not know how to face him but had never thought of a divorce. Did he know that the vulnerable look on his face when he said that made her heart clench?

The truth hurt her, even making her hate him for being so indifferent as to refuse to give the innocent her back then a little sympathy-all for the sake of money. However… he was the man she loved the most and the father of the babies in her belly, after all!

She had once said that she wanted to give her children a warm and wonderful family.

However… she had no idea how long it would take to get there now.

“I… I’ve never thought about a divorce,” Grace said after a long while.

However, her answer did not make him feel better. His eyes fell on her bulging belly. “Is it because of the babies?”

Wow… This is a very good reaction from Grace. Dear writer you have certainly outdone yourself👌…. Grace has acted the way she aught to act… He may not have known her, but he eventually fell for her, truly a twist of fate…. Grace is a great woman, I just hope that her time away from Jason won’t be so long, he was s human after all, and he has loved her dearly. I hope that they won’t be a third party to tear then apart or cause her harm…. Thank you dear writer, you are really good at what you do.

It is a painful hit. I believe Grace will eventually forgive Jason but she needs her space for now. Not sure how long it will take her to forgive him, but she will come round to it.
Jason should do her bidding and have someone stay around her. He should also give her body guards.

I can’t wait to see Lily thrown into prison and the social media going agog with her story as her sister’s murderer. I will like to see Grace pay the inmates to do to Lily’s fingers what she did to her. They should even design her face so that Sean cannot have anything to do with her again. Ah sweet revenge for wicked people like Lily!
At this time, I think Jason should let Grace be so that the children are not affected. After they are delivered, they can sort themselves out.

I feel sorry for Grace. Jason should’ve reveal the truth before so that there will be no regrets. Now he’s in the same situation like Martin Wiess except Grace don’t plan to divorce while Kyla already made up her mind not to move Martin. Lina, Grace and Kyla are both lucky and unlucky to fall in love. Just hope all will end well

I guess Brian is trying hard to win Grace back,, a lost cause though and by coming to Jason’s house fully aware Grace’s condition makes him cruel kinda.
Well it’s also good Grace found out though not the way she did.
For Jason, this should serve as a great lesson to him, everything is not about money. A little kindness,a little compassion pays a great deal no matter how affluent one may be.
Dear editor, thumbs up to you,a good job here.
I just hope that Grace and Jason ends well in this story, that will be my greatest joy

    More chapters plssss.
