Chapter 64 – Just One Kiss Before Divorcing Me Novel Free Online by Jennifer Francis

Both her boys were just looking at her, and she wondered what they were thinking, but they were just seven, and it was up to her to protect them, and from everything she’d seen so far of Calvin Reeves, they needed it as much as she did.

Calvin

He couldn’t believe it, as he stood there inside his office. She’d been removed from the hospital two hours ago. He understood at that very moment that Liam, Hamilton and Lisa had all known about this. They had come here to this very meeting knowing that Marilyn was in fact already in the process of leaving that hospital.

He looked at his watch and realised she’d left that hospital before this meeting had even started, while he had been in that conference room setting it all up. Those three had not once rushed anything at all about that meeting. Having casually sat and eaten, the chef prepared meals and mediated the charges against him

They were in fact all being dropped, or that was the agreement that had been reached, because Marilyn didn’t want anything to do with him. She just wanted to leave and go back to her life, something he now understood they’d helped her to do, and all the while they were sitting across from him, eating the food he’d had laid out for them.

Not one of them had interrupted his PowerPoint presentation on how he’d planned out helping her recovery either. They had all just sat there and let him go on with it, had even asked him questions about it, getting the finer details for themselves he’d thought.

He now knew those words, calmly spoken, over him wanting to help her, and where the estate was? All of it was just Liam calmly attacking him, only he’d not known this. That they had not even once, for a single second, believed he’d been truthful in his wanting to help her recover from her fall.

It was all just a stalling tactic to give another member of their law firm the time to get Marilyn out of that hospital and away from where he could monitor her, know where she was and see who all her visitors were.

Liam had stated he’d done his homework, so all he could think was that he’d found the connection between Calvin and the hospital. His name and the hospital directors would have many connections between them. These people had so very calmly played him.

She had a whole team of lawyers around her, and they’d looked at hirp with the view of him continuing to be her stalker and one that was going to bring her to harm and nothing more. Never once had they even thought he might be able to change and walk away, apologise and actually mean it.

He sat down at his desk and called his security to stop those three from leaving the building, only to find they’d already left the building. It was too late to try and stop them, and he had no idea if Marilyn had been flown out of the state or driven out.

Wil’s attempts to keep him calm in that conference room, and tell him they could try again tomorrow morning, that Wil himself would do it and that he needed to stay out of everything from now on. That had allowed those three the time to take the express elevator down and leave the building unchecked.

Calvin wasn’t happy at all, and hit Wil’s number. It was picked up after five rings.

“She’s gone Wil, has left the hospital.”

Calvin snapped at him in a hard flat tone.

Wil sighed heavily down the line

“How did you find that out? Did you go right to your office and call the hospital to try and talk to her?”

he asked right back.

“No, I didn’t. Casey called me half a dozen times during that meeting. No wonder her lawyer put stipulations on no interruptions, no phones. They removed her from the hospital two f*****g hours ago.”

He grated out.

That’s odd.”

Wil murmured, Ignoring Calvin’s tone. He was used to him and his temper, it seemed.

“Odd? It was clearly all planned out Wil. That meeting was a distraction and nothing more.”

“I did wonder why they accepted having a dinner meeting. That was odd to me… An ulterior motive I now see,”

Wil stated simply

“You think!”

Calvin snapped at him..

“Calm down Calvin, Wil stated.

“I’m trying to think it out…”

Calvin kept his mouth closed even though he didn’t want to. He wanted to rant and rave and beat the hell out of something, but Wil needed it to be quiet to think things through. He didn’t even seem all that surprised to Calvin. Was still in lawyer mode was all Calvin could think.

“They had more than one agenda, I dare say… Not just to get Marilyn out of the hospital and away from you, but those comments about he’d looked into you… I dare say they actually did that, vetted you and Marrin.”

Wil murmured now thoughtfully.

“They were also looking to see if you’d actually given up on Marilyn, being Marrin. Only to hear you were trying to put her out at Cliffside, Marrin’s old home, and so they came to the conclusion that you are still trying to stalk her… As her lawyers, they decided you’re actually a full physical threat to Marilyn and her children, I dare say.”

“I’m not a threat. I just want…”

“Stop it Calvin,”

Wil muttered, cutting him off.

“That line of thinking is what got you into trouble and your continuing to think that will not get you what you want either.”

“Well, how am I supposed to find Marrin? Marilyn was the bloody closest thing I have found to finding a way to get to Marrin.”

He grated out.

“You’re stuck Calvin, like a broken record, you know that right. You just repeat the same thing in different ways. You could well be a threat to Marilyn. You actually know that, right? Your obsession is out of control.”

“I’m not a threat,”

Calvin muttered, and he wasn’t. He just wanted her where he could keep an eye on her, so he knew when Marrin turned up. He was no threat to Marilyn at all as far as he was concerned.

“Think about it, Calvin. Really thinking about that, what would you do if Marilyn agreed with your plan, and went to Cliffside, but Marrin never turned up. How would you deal with that?… Let’s say… oh, six months have passed and there’s still no Marrin, but Marilyn is now healthy and ready to go home; fully recovered. What would you do?… Would you find a way to make her stay there longer, in order to continue thinking Marrin might turn up? Or would you be able to accept that Marrin will never come back and let Marilyn leave and go back to her life?”

“I don’t bloody know.”

He answered honestly.

“I’m certain that Marilyn’s lawyers believe you’d never let her leave, and that is why they did this. They removed her from a man that not only did they agree was a real threat to her, but it’s also likely that she herself has voiced this is what she wants; she is afraid of you and wants to get away from you.”

Wil sighed heavily.

Then what do you suggest I do, Wil?”
