The three of them got into the car and went to the hospital.

Lina had been transferred to a regular ward. The hospital had provided Lina a VIP single room with a good environment and a bed for family. Usually, either Mr. Sweeney or Mrs. Sweeney would spend the night in the hospital.

At this moment, Lina was sitting quietly in her hospital bed. She had even straightened her hospital gown.

Her head was still wrapped in thick white gauze. Her once pretty face looked pale and haggard from the days spent in the hospital and two major operations.

Finally, Jason said to Grace, “Let’s go out first. I think President Stephenson knows what to do.”

“Grace, don’t worry about me!” said Lina.

Then, Grace and Jason walked out of the ward together while Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney followed them hesitantly.

Grace looked at Jason and said, “Are you sure nothing will go wrong? What if Hadwin Stephenson says something very heartless that triggers… Lina…”

She dared not imagine it somehow.

Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney hurriedly asked, “Has… Hadwin really gotten together with another woman? Is it just like what the news said? Is he here to make things clear and break up with Lina?”

He was also a man, so he naturally understood that an introverted and gloomy person like Hadwin Stephenson would not have lost his composure upon hearing such news unless he cared about that person a lot.

“But he and that Katherine Jackson…” Grace said hesitantly.

In the ward, Lina and Hadwin Stephenson were looking at each other. The person in front of her was so close, but she somehow felt that he was very far away… Very far away…

“You know I’ve always been the Stephenson family’s b*stard and looked down upon, so I’ve sworn to trample all those who despised me one day.

“I did like you, but you’re not helpful to my career and will even become my burden. However, Manlin can use the Jackson family’s influence to help me realize my wish.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand as if to touch her cheek.

However, just as his hand was about to touch her face, he stopped. He withdrew his hand as though he feared he would be more reluctant to give up on Lina if he touched her.

Lina’s eyes moved. “Do you… mean it?”

“Yes, I mean it. Lina, I really loved you when I loved you, but you can’t give me what I really want, so you’re not the right one for me. What I need is a woman who can help me,” said

Hadwin Stephenson.

Lina slowly lowered her eyes as if thinking about something, while Hadwin Stephenson continued to kneel in front of her as if waiting for something.

Both of them were like statues.

Your love for me only amounts to this.”

Hadwin Stephenson’s pupils suddenly constricted, and his face instantly turned pole. His hands that hung beside his body were clenched into fists as if he was trying hard to suppress something.

Lina smiled gently, but her smile was so bitter.

She had never felt so much pain even when she was between life and death, but she was in excruciating pain now!

Almost with difficulty, she raised her hand and touched his cheek.

The familiar face she had touched and marveled at so many times before seemed strange to touch now.

From her initial agitation after seeing the news to being able to calmly hear him say these words, was it because… she had prepared herself mentally before he came?
