“Aunt, don’t panic. How is Lina now?” Grace asked immediately even though she was worried sick herself.
When she said that, Hadwin Stephenson’s expression immediately changed. His eyes were staring intently at Grace. Anyone could see that he was nervous.
“Lina…”
“Mom… Let me… talk to Grace…” Lina’s labored voice came from her phone.
Due to the gradual improvement of her condition these days, Lina was transferred from the ICU to the regular ward. Then, this happened before she could fully recover.
It seemed that because of Lina’s insistence, Mrs. Sweeney could only hand the phone to her daughter.
Grace could only hear her best friend’s voice slowly sounding from the other end of the phone. She said word by word, “Grace… I… I’d like to see… Hadwin… Will… Will you get him for me… Help me… contact him… Tell him… I want to see him… I trust him… no matter what happens…”
Grace burst into tears instantly.
She did not even know how to answer Lina. The Hadwin
Stephenson she trusted was now dating another woman. Maybe… the answer was not what Lina was expecting at all!
Grace’s tears made Hadwin Stephenson rush over suddenly. “What happened to Lina? Did something happen to Lina?”
Grace sobbed, and before she could speak, Hadwin
Stephenson snatched the phone out of her hand and anxiously roared into the other end of the line, “What happened to Lina?!”
“Hadwin…” Only one word came from the other end of the line, but it already made Hadwin Stephenson stiffen.
‘It’s… Lina’s voice!’
His lips quivered and moved slightly as if he wanted to say something, but it seemed that all words were stuck in his throat. He could not even utter a word.
“Hadwin… I… I want to see you. Whatever… it is, I… just want to hear it… from you… If… you don’t come and see me, I… I won’t eat or drink and… wait until… you come…” Lina’s voice sounded intermittently.
Hadwin Stephenson’s heart immediately sank.
He knew her temper. Sometimes, she liked to coquettishly play dumb and was indecent in her fangirling. It would not be the first time she had lied to him. He had even called her a little liar back then.
However, she always kept her word once she made up her mind.
Hadwin Stephenson clutched the phone tightly. ‘How can she do this? How can she threaten me with her life? Does what I say matter so much?’
After an unknown amount of time, the word ‘okay’ finally escaped his mouth.
Then, the call ended.
Grace glared at Hadwin Stephenson and nervously asked,
“What did Lina say to you?”
“She asked to see me and I said yes.” Hadwin Stephenson restrained the expression on his face and threw the phone back to Grace. “Which hospital is she in? I’ll go over.”
“What are you going to tell her once you’re there?” asked
Grace.
“I’ll tell her what I need to say, of course,” said Hadwin Stephenson.
“And what do you need to say?” Grace asked again.
Hadwin Stephenson stared coldly at Grace, saying, “That’s between me and her. You have no right to ask. If you won’t give me the name of the hospital, I’ll look it up myself.”
With that, he turned to leave.
“Wait!” Grace reached out her hand to grab Hadwin
Stephenson.
Hadwin Stephenson suddenly shook his hand, and Grace was caught off guard. She seemed like she was about to fall, but luckily, Jason grabbed her from the side.
“How do you feel? Are you okay?” Jason was the one to panic now. The moment he saw her leaning back, his blood seemed to have frozen.
Grace was so shocked that her face turned pale.
She knew that she had been too anxious. If she had fallen, the three children in her belly would have been in danger.
“I’m… okay,” said Grace after coming back to her senses.
Jason helped Grace to regain her footing and looked coldly at Hadwin Stephenson. “President Stephenson, please watch out. If something had happened to my wife just now, I would make sure the Stephenson family disappeared from J City.”
Hadwin Stephenson replied with a deadpan face, “Really? Master Reed, it seems like you’re talking too highly of yourself. Not only Emerald City, but you’re going to interfere with J City too? Master Reed, if you can make the Stephenson family disappear, give it a try.”
With the situation between the two men, it seemed like a war could happen at any moment now.
Grace pulled Jason and said, “That’s enough. Lina matters the most now!”
As she spoke, she looked at Hadwin Stephenson and said, “Are you going to see Lina today no matter what?”
Hadwin Stephenson said nothing, but his silence was also an answer.
“I know I can’t stop you, but my only request is that…” Grace looked at Katherine Jackson who was standing next to Hadwin Stephenson. “Miss Jackson can’t go to the hospital!”
“What if I insist on going?” asked Katherine Jackson as she raised her chin.
Jason sneered, “Since my wife said you can’t go, then you can’t set foot into the hospital!”
Katherine Jackson’s expression changed. She had not forgotten that the man in front of her had absolute power in Emerald City. This was not the Jackson family’s territory, after all.
Hadwin Stephenson turned his head and looked at Katherine
Jackson. “Wait for me. I’ll come back for you after dropping by the hospital.”
Katherine Jackson smiled gently and suddenly hugged Hadwin
Stephenson’s neck, kissing his lips. Then, she said tenderly, “Okay, I’ll wait for you to come back. You must make it clear to your ex-girlfriend. Don’t beat around the bush, or I’ll be embarra**ed when the time comes.”
“Okay, got it.” Hadwin Stephenson’s voice was a bit hoarse.
Grace looked pale. ‘Hadwin Stephenson didn’t refuse Katherine Jackson’s kiss. Does that mean… Hadwin Stephenson is really planning to be with Katherine Jackson?’
‘What… What should Lina do?’
Grace walked out without a word. Jason protected her closely while Hadwin Stephenson followed behind them.
When they got to the car outside, Grace turned her head and looked straight at Hadwin Stephenson. “I don’t care what you’re going to say to Lina or whether you’re going to break up with her. But I just want to remind you that at least Lina was someone you once loved. Don’t push her to her death. I won’t let you go if anything happens to her!”
Grace rarely threatened people, but she could do anything for
Lina!
She had no way to stop Hadwin Stephenson from seeing Lina, but she wanted Lina to live well and undergo her treatment.
It was too late to hide it from Lina now.
She had no idea what kind of shock Hadwin Stephenson would give Lina when he met her, but she hoped Hadwin
Stephenson would consider their past affections and minimize the shock!
“You don’t have to tell me what to do. I know what to do with Lina and my relationship,” Hadwin Stephenson said coldly.

For power men will leave their women behind this is the case of Hadwin but he’s not as blind and biased like Martin who look at the cover and jump into the conclusion without reading the whole story🤦♀️. These two men really set a trap to themselves by sacrificing themselves only. But I hope Hadwin will not leave Lina and to Martin I hope when the truth comes out he will not have the courage to show his face to Kyla again I hope he will not become Kyla’s donor too but someone else will donate donor to Kyla so that Martin will have more regrets since she gave him love he gave her pain, she trust him he betrayed her, she save him he torture her. So when the time comes when the truth found out and when he get the chance to repay her by donate his liver I hope he will find that it’s so late for him when someone already save Kyla by donating their organ ( I just hope it will be Chase Harper, or Lina or anyone else but not Martin so that he will regret forever)…

Hadwin is playing a game with Katherine. He really does still love Lina. It’s all part of his plan. I’ll bet her was the one who took her so she could receive treatment. As for Kayla and Martin, I think Paisley’s ex is planning something and spiked the wine. I’ll bet it causes Martin to break up with her!!! I hope so.
I hope Lina comes out of this strong. Even if Hadwin has other plans, no woman should undergo what Lina is currently going through.

I think Hadwin is up to something, as he asked for couple of months before they can get married as he said he is going to sort out his family I think this is one of tricks, we will see though as we are patiently waiting from the author.
