I smiled when I saw Scarlett holding our baby in her arms as she chose a dress for her.

This being the first time she went out with us, I couldn’t help but love the fact that my beauty was as carefree, happy, and comfortable.

Having marked her last night, I had to fight the urge to purr, knowing that anyone could hear us, and that was the last thing that I needed right now.

I wrapped my arm around her from the back, catching her off guard, and resting my chin on her shoulder, I smiled when she looked at me with gentle eyes.

“What are you doing?” She asked, biting her bottom l*ip.

“Admiring my two beauties” I whispered to her, k*issing her cheek. Anastasia looked at the two of us and giggled, and nodding at a nearby saleswoman, the woman came and smiled at the two of us “my wife wants this dress please”

Scarlett’s eyes widened at the name as a blush made its way to her cheeks. Her heart raced, and nodding the saleswoman took the dress from me, leaving us to choose whatever we wanted.

I turned my beauty around to look at me, smiling at her reaction before taking Nasia from her. My little princess scratched my scruff, making me chuckle before k*issing her.

“Your wife?” Scarlett asked and I nodded.

“Yes, aren’t you my mate? And as my mate, especially after being marked you are technically considered my wife” I said, making my beauty smile. I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her closer to me, and running my finger over her waist, I held my daughter to my c*hest as she looked at the two of us with big wide eyes. Her eyes resembled her mom’s so much that I could tell that she would look a lot like her when she grew older. “Very interesting concept of yours”

“It is, but that is something that you would be getting used to, if not already” I teased, making her laugh. Anastasia squirmed in my arms, wanting to go to her mom. I smiled and handed her to her, chuckling when she wrapped her arms and l*egs around her.

“I like this side of you” she said, making me raise an eyebrow as the two of us roamed the store, while she searched through the clothes. I pushed Nasia’s stroller in case she grew tired of carrying our little on in her arms for too long.

“Which one, exactly?” I asked, smiling at her.

“The carefree, loving Alpha, the Alexander that I fell in love with a long time ago” she said honestly. I smiled at her, my heart skipping a beat at her words. It was indeed true. I had changed when I dated Delilah. Both to please her and my parents who put so much on my head to handle at the time.

The anger that I felt, and I believe, the heartbreak as well. I would look at the girl that I was in love with, my best friend, and the one person that I completely trusted in this world from far, knowing that I couldn’t approach her. It killed me at times, and there came times where I really couldn’t handle it. “This Alpha is your Alpha. The carefree, loving, and genuinely happy Alpha, I’m yours and yours alone. I know that I wasn’t the best at showing it before, and I know that you might have hated the fact that I am your mate. I can’t blame you for that. I made you suffer more than just a little bit for my sake. But, I know for fact that I am more than thankful that you were willing to give me the chance of being with me. It is something that I will forever remember” I said, as I picked up a baby doll “I guess I was blinded by the fact that I was with Delilah and the pressure that I was in while with her”

“I remember you said that you were in love with her…”

“That’s the thing, I don’t even know what I felt with her. I know I felt something, and I know that I tried pleasing her. But I came to realize that I wasn’t happy. I don’t know how to explain it, but I realized that I was more angry than I ever was, and I was losing those who were around me. My pack was run by fear more than it was run by respect, and that was something that I was completely against. Strength was something and fear could have been a part of it, but when being afraid of someone, there could be time that you just turned against them. When I first became Alpha, I was running the pack with the respect they gave me. I respected them back, and only enf*orced myself when needed…”

The two of us walked to the cashier, and paying for the things, we walked out of the story as my beauty placed Anastasia in the stroller, seeing as she finally started dozing off. Her eyes met mine, and straightening, she nodded at me to continue, letting me know that she was listening.

It was something that I didn’t doubt anyway. I knew that Scarlett listened to literally every word I said, she often just chose to ignore them when I was too harsh on her, and that was something that broke my heart, knowing that she bottled in too much for simply my sake.

“You saw how the pack was prospering when I first took charge as Alpha. Those who didn’t believe in me were also my biggest supporters in a very short period of time. I knew that my parents wanted us being together, or at least, my father did, I don’t know about mom to be honest. Then, Delilah showed up”

“And everything went upside down” Scarlett said and I nodded. I didn’t even know how it happened or when it did, but I knew that the pack was literally never the same again.

“I don’t even know how she managed to do it or why. But she convinced me that everything that I believed in was wrong. The two of us were dating for a while, and then, one day, she just asked me to stop being your friend. I tried understanding why, I tried getting her to explain it, but nothing. She did not bother explaining, then I realized that it was jealousy…” I said, sighing.

“Did you ever consider that she might have read your love in your eyes?” Scarlett asked, stopping me “that maybe she was afraid that you would leave her for me? Remember, there came a time when she tried sending me out on random dates to try and get rid of me, I don’t know, maybe she was hoping that I would find myself a mate and get out of the pack”

“Maybe so, but that still doesn’t give her the right to do what she did”

“Indeed, but you do realize that it is called a game of love. One second you’re happy with someone, the next you’re jealous, and then you feel like fire has been poured in your heart and you just can’t shut it off. The feeling can be both exciting and painful, but most of the time the fire can burn the person alive.

Now, the role would be on the second part, mate or partner. They can either help light that fire, make it shine so bright that the whole world can see it, or shut it off, so it turns into ashes that find a h*ard time assembling once again” she said, making my c*hest ache. I wanted to ask her which phase she was in, but I knew better not to, especially since I was afraid of whatever her answer would be.

Scarlett put her hand on mine, noticing how quiet I became, and I smiled at her, trying to cover my pain “I just hope that I could be that fire that lights up your day as much as you light mine up, Alex”

Her words, having caught me off guard, caused my heart to skip a beat, and if that wasn’t enough. Scarlett stood on her toes and k*issed my cheek, letting her l*ips linger there for a second “I am more than willing to forgive and forget what happened. I just need your promise that you won’t do it again”

“Scarlett…”

“Only then would I be able to fully give myself to you, Alex” she said, stopping me “wolf and self, Alexander…”
