I woke up in Alexander’s arms.

His c*hest rose and fell as he slept peacefully. Though when he came back since he should have shifted last night, I did not know.

The sun was already up, and checking the time, I frowned when I saw that it was a while past nine, and I had slept before sundown last night.

My eyes caught sight of my pillow, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw blood, my blood, which poured from the bite mark that Alexander left on me last night, stained it.

I turned to look at my mate who opened one eye and smiled, wrapping his arm around me as he pulled me to his c*hest.

“You’re awake?” I asked, startled. “It seems so” he said, running his hand over my bare back. “Shouldn’t you have shifted…”

“I did” he said, stopping me “but I stayed here, by your side through the night”

“What?” I asked, frowning in confusion as I raised myself to look at him, unsure whether or not he was being serious about this. He tightened his arm around me and nodded at Nasia’s crib that was on his side.

“I had them bringing Anastasia’s crib a while before the shift, shifted here, and stayed by your sides. I didn’t want to leave you after just marking you, and I didn’t want Anastasia to stay alone with the maids through the night. She slept a full night and only woke up when I shifted back to human. I fed and changed her before she went back to sleep again” Alexander said, smiling at me. My heart skipped a beat as a blush made its way to my cheeks. The fact that he had stopped himself from running like the other pack members, with his pack members, and leading his pack members was something that I couldn’t get of my mind. How gentle he was being right now, and despite not knowing that he was beside me throughout the whole night yesterday, I was more than grateful for that.

“I don’t know what to say” I said honestly “I really didn’t expect to find you by my side when I woke let alone…”

“You are my mate, Neonata. Officially, and completely mine”

Alexander said, stopping me “I knew that you would need to rest, and you still do, after the mating was done. Therefore, I couldn’t wake you up and knew that Anastasia crying during the night wouldn’t be something that you would be able to deal with at that point. Plus, my wolf enjoyed seeing the two of you being him. His mate, laying peacefully, asleep and content, our his heir, in her crib, trying to poke his eye”

“What?” I asked, laughing and he chuckled before getting out of bed. He lifted our sleeping little princess in his arms, and set her on our bed beside me before he lay by our side, making me smile. Our family bond was one that I did not want to break, and this moment was one that I wanted to cherish forever. “Yeah, she was frightened at first and I had to actually tease her a bit to make her laugh. Then she poked my nose and decided that the best thing she could is poke my eye” Alexander said, making me laugh. Anastasia looked at the two of us, opening her eyes as she woke up before cooing, making us smile. I leaned in, and k*issed my little one’s forehead before taking her in my arms.

My little princess was turning ten months soon, and I knew that she would be walking soon enough, and that meant that we were going to need to ensure that there was nothing that she could reach, drop, and break while she was testing her curiosity.

“I think that it is about time that we start rearranging a few things in the house, what do you think?” I asked, turning to look at Alexander who raised an eyebrow. “In which terms?”

“Well, first, our little one here is going to start walking soon, and the two of us know that it could mean chaos in every possible way. We’re going to need to ensure that she can’t hurt herself with edges as well, and needless to say, that she can’t reach anything that is breakable on the table” I said, making him laugh.

He nodded, and taking my hand in his, he brought it to his l*ips and gently k*issed my knuckle, making me smile. “Alright, do you want us to buy the new things that would at least cover the edges or order them online? We can do both, I don’t mind” Alexander said, and looking at Anastasia, a small idea popped into my head.

“The three of us never really went out together before. So, I was thinking, why not have it as a family kind of thing? You know, something for us to bond together?” I asked, and if Alexander was happy before, he was a thousand times happier now. He nodded, and leaning down to k*iss our daughter, he let his l*ips linger there for a few seconds until Anastasia grabbed his hair, pulling on it.

I laughed and removed her fingers before looking at my mate whose smile could be seen a mile away. The man was truly both my blessing and my curse, and I didn’t even know whether or not he knew that yet, but I knew that I would be more than willing to simply see him smile.

“I’ll go and get ready. I need to shower and try to cover the mark on my n*eck…”

“Why cover it? You know, it would let others know that you are mine” Alexander teased, making me laugh.

“Others, as wolves, can smell your scent covering me easily. Those who were human, I would rather they not see a bite mark on my n*eck. You know, that is not something that they would favor” I said, winking at him “I’ll leave you be while I get ready, okay?”

“Alright, Neonata…”
