“They said they’ll continue with the investigation. They’ll probably call you and ask you to give your statement,” said
Lina.
Grace nodded, hoping the police could catch the real culprit soon.
“I’ll have someone investigate it too. I’ll find the culprit no matter what!” said Brian with a flash of malice in his eyes.
He would not let go of anyone who wanted to hurt her!
When they got out of the hospital, Lina said with a sigh, “Brian’s really good to you.”
“Yeah,” Grace replied softly.
“The thing about feelings is that you won’t necessarily fall for the one who’s nice to you. But Grace… I don’t want you to miss out on happiness because you refuse to fall in love again. You deserve the best romance!” Lina said seriously.
Grace looked at her best friend’s concerned look and smiled gently. She stretched out her arms and hugged her best friend. “Lina, don’t worry about me. You’ve already worried too much about me. I promise you I’ll live a good life.”
Lina sighed and hugged her back. “You must live a good life so I can be happy too.”
“Definitely,” Grace said, a**uring her.
Then two parted at the hospital’s entrance. One took the bus while the other took the subway back.
Riding the subway, Lina looked at her reflection on the subway’s window. The feeling of having survived a disaster was still so intense.
Right now, she finally somewhat understood how Grace had felt when she got into the car accident previously.
The two cars that had collided with each other even caught fire shortly after Grace got out. Had Grace got out even a moment later, she would have been burned to death in the cor too!
Life… was so fragile. It was so fragile that you might leave this world and your loved ones at any time!
Her parents’ faces flashed in Lina’s mind and then… it was
Hadwin Stephenson’s face.
Last night, she could not help calling Hadwin Stephenson.
She did not want him to worry, so she thought of keeping it a secret. However, her body had trembled uncontrollably in the dead of night. As soon as she closed her eyes, she saw the scene of when she was about to crash into the sand truck.
She had given up all hope at the time. She had never felt that way before.
She had cried her eyes out on the phone. She had stammered something she could no longer remember and eventually fell asleep during the call.
When she woke up this morning, she realized that she was still on the call.
Hadwin… had never hung up!
She then tentatively made some noise, and he immediately said good morning to her.
His voice had sounded a little hoarse. She wondered if he had slept well after all the commotion she made the night before, or… did he not sleep at all?
Speaking of which, it had only been two weeks since he left Emerald City, but she missed him so much!
She desperately wanted to see him!
One would know what one wanted after experiencing the fine line between life and death.
When Lina stepped out of the subway station and walked to the gate of her neighborhood, her steps stopped short.
A black car had stopped not far away, and a figure got out to walk toward her.
Lina’s eyes instantly reddened, and her nose felt no soro!
“Lina, I’m back,” the slightly husky baritone voice said. He looked at her with a gentle but worried look.
Lina suddenly cried out and jumped into Hadwin Stephenson’s arms, crying loudly.
Her arms were tightly wrapped around him and her face was buried in his arms as she cried loudly. It was as if she was crying out… all her fear, dread, and longing.
Hadwin Stephenson lowered his head and seemed to be caressing Lina’s black hair helplessly.
Her tears made him nervous and broke his heart! Last night, hearing her cry on the phone had already made him feel upset and guilty.
She encountered all these because he had failed to protect her! If anything had happened to her, he would never have forgiven himself.
Even… The more he imagined the scene, the more panicked he became. After that panic came fear.
When he saw her crying like this in front of him, he did not even know what he could do to make her stop crying.
He would be calm when facing the bloodshed in the
Stephenson family and others’ conspiracy.
However, her tears flustered him, and all he could do was mumble, “Don’t cry… Lina, don’t…”
It took Lina a while to finally stop crying.
However, when she looked up at Hadwin Stephenson, her eyes were red and swollen. Those round eyes were soaked with a layer of tears. “Hadwin Stephenson, I miss you so much. Do you know how… How afraid I was yesterday? I was so afraid that I’d never see you again!”
She sobbed, and her voice croaked as she spoke.
“I know,” he said. His voice was so gentle that it seemed like water would drip from it. “Because I was just as afraid. I was afraid I’d never see you again. Fortunately, you’re safe.”
She stared somewhat blankly at him. The man’s face was full of worry for her. There were faint dark circles under his eyes. He must not have slept well last night. Besides, he had told her he had many things to handle at the Stephenson family’s house, but now, he was back!
Lina held Hadwin Stephenson’s face with both her hands. “Let’s get married. I’ll marry you once you’ve settled the Stephenson family’s matters!”
Although they had talked about getting married, for the first time, she desperately wanted to marry him and be with him after going through a life-and-death situation.
She wanted to spend as much time with him as possible, even if it was just a minute or a second more!
Perhaps she cherished him more now after experiencing such a thing.
Even when they were just standing face to face and holding each other while looking at each other, she thought that this was all a blessing from God!
Hadwin Stephenson stared at the person in front of him and bent down, pressing his forehead gently against hers. “We’ll get married. I want to marry you into the Stephenson family so you can be my wife gloriously!”
She gave a sweet, tearful smile. She did not care whether it was glorious; she only cared whether they could be together forever!
She wanted to be with him for the rest of her life.
In the living room of the Sweeney family’s house, the tears in Lina’s eyes were not yet dry. She sat in the living room with Hadwin Stephenson and faced the interrogation of her parents.
“You want to get married?” asked Mr. Sweeney as he looked at his daughter and future son-in-law.
He and his wife were satisfied with Hadwin Stephenson and were supportive of their daughter’s relationship, but marriage… was a little too fast. They had only been dating for less than a year!
“Yes, I want to marry Lina. I hope you two can give us your blessings,” said Hadwin Stephenson. His hand had been holding Lina’s since they entered the Sweeney family’s house.
Mrs. Sweeney could not help saying, “Hadwin, you haven’t been dating Lina that long, have you? It’s not that you’re not good, but… marriage is for life. You should get to know each other well before making a decision. We don’t want you to take marriage too lightly and casually get married on a whim.”
In Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney’s opinion, if a couple got married in haste, then maybe the couple would get divorced in haste too!
“Mom, getting to know someone doesn’t only depend on the length of time you know them. I think I know Hadwin quite well!” Lina could not help saying. She even knew his underwear size. “Didn’t you keep pushing me to get married when I didn’t have a boyfriend? Now that I’m going to get married, you’re… asking me to slow down?”
Mrs. Sweeney glared at her daughter. They were only thinking of her, but their daughter was not understanding at all!
“It’s too soon, regardless!” Mr. Sweeney made the final decision. “We’re not against you dating, but you should think through a big deal such as marriage!”
Mr. Sweeney spoke. Then, he looked at Hadwin Stephenson again and said, “The situation of the Stephenson family now… is a bit of a mess. It’s been in the news a lot. I don’t want my daughter to marry and get involved in a rich and powerful family’s feud.”
After all, knowing his daughter, she would turn out the loser if they fought like it was a palace drama.
Hadwin Stephenson said with great affirmation, “I’m not going to let Lina get involved in any of it. In two months at most, I can solve everything in the Stephenson family. Then I’ll let Lina join a peaceful Stephenson family. Besides…”
He paused and turned to look at the person beside him. “I’ve loved Lina for far more than a year. It should have been more than four years since I first met her. My decision to marry her was never one made lightly but more seriously than any decision I’ve ever made!”
His gaze returned to Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney again with an incomparable determination in it. “I want to marry Lina. She’s the only one I ever want to marry. It has nothing to do with time!”

I like that Brian’s feelings for Grace is somehow fresh and unconditional. It’s not forceful at all unlike Jason’s. No mind games, (brother-sister game) doubts, and not abusive. Grace deserves a love like this. Slow and steady. I hope there’s a chance for Brian and Grace!!!! I love them together. I love how Brian’s character!!
Although deep down I know that Grace and Jason would probably end up together. I just can’t imagine how suffocating Jason’s love could be. How forceful, manipulative and abusive he could get especially when he is reliving his childhood trauma. There are several times that he pinned down Grace kissed her forcefully just to show that he’s powerful or he could do anything he wants with her or he would only HELP her in exchange of being his SISTER. what an absolute LUNATIC.

Ok. This novel is called Grace and Jason. How is this turning into Brian and Grace? I’m on team Jason because he’s supposed to be the protagonist in this story. But now, he looks like the evil ex. I don’t like where this is going.

Well for Grace and her love life I really feel for her. she pass through a lot. The way life is treating her is unfair wish she could find peace and fall in love again and that love I will like it be Jay cuz..I like the way Jason protects what he loves the most he always goes ahead of time and doesn’t allow any stone unturn when it comes to dealing with those trying to hurts what he loves the most..for Brian I like his calmness but better of the devil you no than the Angel you don’t no cuz..I feel more balance with jason than Brian doe jason too Has his secretive life but I like him more with grace than Brian and I don’t have much trust on Brian than Jay. doe the story is getting more complicated but I believe it will balance sha..for Kyla I will love it if the gets back with martins Weiss. The right man for Grace is Brian, but when it comes to love.. she will choose Jason. She’s only waiting for him to change, to be more suitable for her… For how long she’ll wait, I dunno… Let’s hope she figures it out early, it’s not nice to string along people… I hope we can focus on the love story and not the multiple evil plotting. Life is already full of Bad People and we are all not that lucky, but that’s life.
If she ends up with Brian, we know she’ll be content and will live a good life. If she ends up with Jason, she’ll be happy and she gets to save him from all his own demons. Whatever the end game is, I hope Grace would stop and just be honest with herself whom she wants and go for him. If it not, then might as well change location and leave Emerald City. She already got hurt multiple times and everytime a friend or a man had to help her. Funny that she still insists she does not need their help.

Brian’s love for Grace is deep. It is painful to see the love not reciprocated. Jason needs help and fast. Grace has too many enemies and they all need to be dealt with publicly and probably imprisoned to serve as a deterrent to others. Paisley should be exposed and Kyla allowed to raise her son peacefully. I am happy for Lina and hope her marriage into the Stephenson’s family is drama-free.
I’d like to see Grace nurture a relationship that is built on trust and true love.

I imagine what will happen when grace finally find out Jason was the one behind her imprisonment and sufferings. Jason love is forceful, you don’t force love. I am Team Brian, Jason is too vengeful for my liking, he was the one behind Grace’s imprisonment he turnt a blind eye, even paying off ppl to lie, kidnapping her so she can’t be with Brian, taking the silver bracelet, his misdemeanor is toooo much.

Grace getting hurt everyday is unnerving, I mean how unlucky can she be? It’s way unbearable to see her being rescued everyday,she seems weak and that’s no way for a protagonist to go,and why did Jason become a bad guy?
