Denzel, the second-largest shareholder of Global Entertainment, had never been fond of Tatiana, especially after Hector’s death. It was rumored that Denzel had even teamed up with other shareholders to push her out of power.
The call was brief, but the message was clear: Tatiana’s plans would not succeed. The bounty notice on the Dark Site vanished without a trace before it was even released.
Tatiana immediately checked the Dark Site to see her bounty notice as soon as she woke up in the morning. But to her disbelief, it had been rejected!
Frowning in frustration, she wondered if the price was too low. Hardened by anger, she added several million more and reposted it.
Tatiana had to meet with a replacement actor today after Austen was fired. She got ready and left her villa, finding Jedidiah already waiting by the car.
Tatiana’s gaze lingered on him, a glint of satisfaction in her eyes. For work, life, and travel, Jedidiah was as efficient as an entire studio. Her investment in him had paid off handsomely.
Jedidiah opened the car door with precision and grace, and once inside, he went over the day’s schedule.
Tatiana listened attentively until something caught her off guard.
“Why is there a shareholders’ meeting this morning? I didn’t issue any such notice,” she interrupted, her voice tinged with confusion.
Jedidiah’s expression remained unreadable as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
“Miss Fernandez, you didn’t issue the notice, but two-thirds of the shareholders are demanding a meeting. I suggest you attend on time.”
“What’s their problem? The drama hasn’t even started filming yet, and they’re already going against me!”
Jedidiah said nothing, allowing her frustration to bubble over. After a moment, he calmly asked, “Will you be attending, Miss Fernandez?”
“Yes.”
Tatiana knew she had no choice. If she didn’t show up, those scheming old vultures would turn against her for sure.
Feeling drained by the series of setbacks, she sank back in her seat and pulled out her phone to check the Dark Site again, only to find the bounty had been rejected once more!
The morning dragged on, and Tatiana, along with Jedidiah and the director, spent the rest of it meeting with actors for auditions. It wasn’t until it was almost time for the meeting that she left with Jedidiah.
As they headed to the company, Tatiana turned to Jedidiah with a sharp, calculating look.
“Can you guess what those shareholders will say today?”
Jedidiah said calmly, “There are too many things they might talk about, but they’re all within the category of picking at your mistakes.
Miss Fernandez, you just need to stay calm and composed.”
A little annoyed by Jedidiah’s words, Tatiana fell silent. Upon arriving at the office, she stormed into the main conference room, her face as stern as a thundercloud.
The other shareholders had already gathered. Tatiana walked straight to her seat and sat down, her voice laced with a sharp edge as she remarked, “I didn’t realize there was something so important that it needed everyone dragged in here for a meeting.”
The moment she finished speaking, the shareholders, led by Denzel, exchanged looks. One of them stood, forcing a smile onto his face.
“Miss Fernandez, if appointing a new chairman isn’t important, then there’s nothing else that matters in this company.”
Before Tatiana could respond, the shareholder continued, “Last night, Austen’s scandal tarnished the reputation of Global Entertainment. Isn’t that your responsibility, Miss Fernandez? Moreover, your TV drama was halted before filming even began. Even if you find a replacement actor, can you guarantee it’ll go smoothly? The performance-based agreement is meaningless now. We’ve all agreed to elect Mr. Davenport as chairman, to give an explanation to the public and the media.
Miss Fernandez, please consider the overall situation and don’t let Global Entertainment lose its prestige in the industry!”
The other shareholders nodded in agreement, a collective pressure mounting on Tatiana to relinquish her chairmanship.
Taken aback by their sudden move, Tatiana felt her anger rise, her fists clenched in fury. But she knew better than to act rashly in front of so many shareholders, so she bit back her rage, pushing it deep down.
“You’re making a mountain out of a molehill! What kind of scandals hasn’t Global Entertainment faced? Why are we making such a big deal out of this one? The performance-based agreement is sealed and signed. It’s not something you can just tear up! In short, I will not agree.”
With that, Tatiana prepared to leave. As long as she didn’t sign the document, they couldn’t do anything to her now!
But someone blocked her path.
“What’s the point of your insistence, Miss Fernandez? Are you determined to drag Global Entertainment down? The public opinion surrounding Austen may not be as significant, but hasn’t Global Entertainment fallen from the top to this point because of one scandal after another? And you’re still counting on your TV drama to turn things around? As far as I know, you spent the whole morning assessing actors today and still haven’t found anyone suitable, right? If…”
The shareholders present began accusing Tatiana of selfishness. Denzel, however, continued to gaze at her with an unwavering, calculating stare, showing no signs of weakness.
Tatiana narrowed her eyes, a twisted sense of satisfaction swelling in her chest as she watched Denzel’s angry expression.
But when Denzel spoke next, the weight of his words shrouded Tatiana in a fear she’d never felt before.
Denzel’s gaze was fixed on Tatiana, his voice cool and composed.
“Miss Fernandez, Global Entertainment was built by all of us here, along with Hector, back in the day. After Hector’s passing, you stepped into his shoes. Perhaps some of the people here are unaware of the full story, but have you, yourself, forgotten? I didn’t want to cause a scene, but since you insist on being troublesome, don’t blame me for being blunt.”
“Denzel, what do you mean by that?” Tatiana felt her unease mounting. Denzel’s words, laced with hidden meaning, gnawed at her, making her feel a sense of dread she couldn’t quite shake.
The other shareholders exchanged confused glances, their curiosity piqued by the cryptic exchange unfolding between the two.
Denzel scoffed and rose from his seat, pressing on.
“Miss Fernandez, you should know better than anyone how Hector died, shouldn’t you? Even if Hector was guilty of something, aren’t you, the one who killed him and seized his fortune, equally guilty? The position of chairman was never yours to claim. You’ve held it for far too long; it’s time you faced the consequences.”
Before Tatiana could retort, the door to the conference room swung open, and several police officers entered, holding up an arrest warrant.
“Tatiana Fernandez, we’ve received a report that you murdered Hector Lyons. We are here to arrest you, as per the law.”
“No, I didn’t. You’re wrong!”
The words hit Tatiana like a thunderclap, the revelation of her past sins now spilling into the open.
As she struggled, Denzel calmly looked at her and delivered his final blow.
“I’ve already handed over the evidence to the police. Save your excuses for the police station.”
Tatiana was escorted out, her world crashing down around her. As she was led away, the last thing she saw was Denzel taking the chairman’s seat—he claimed what she thought was hers.
Isabella was enjoying dinner with Andrew when the news of Tatiana’s arrest reached her ears. She sighed, “We couldn’t find the evidence of Tatiana’s murder back then. I didn’t expect that someone at Global Entertainment would uncover it. I wonder how they did it.”
Andrew looked up from his meal, placing a peeled shrimp in front of Isabella, and said with a calm demeanor, “It’s good that justice is being served. Now…”
“She won’t be able to cause any more harm. Let’s not focus on her. How does this taste?”
Isabella, thinking of all that Tatiana had done, nodded in agreement with Andrew’s sentiment.
The shrimp in front of her looked too tempting to resist. After she took a bite, her eyes lit up, and the thought of Tatiana slipped away.
After dinner, Isabella and Andrew took a walk to digest. Passing a nearby shopping mall, Isabella said, “The end of the month is in two days. Let’s buy something and visit my parents.”
As the Patton family valued family gatherings and always met at the end of each month, Andrew, now living with Isabella, joined in whenever he had the time.
He nodded in agreement, taking Isabella’s hand as they entered the mall.
At the end of the month, when Isabella got off work, she found Andrew’s car parked at the side of the road.
As she approached, the back window rolled down, and Evie’s face popped out, beaming with a wide grin.
“Isabella!” she called, her excitement clear in her voice.
“Evie? What brings you here?” Isabella asked, surprised.
Evie rested her head on the car window.
“I just got back from an event, and then my brother said he was going to have dinner at your parents’ place. Can I join?”
With her hands gripping the window, Evie shot Isabella a pleading look.
Isabella, her heart warming at the girl’s adorably quirky manner, smiled and nodded.
