Simply put, kissing Andrew was always divine.
But tonight, he wasn’t playing along.
Isabella felt like she’d stepped into a romantic drama, playing the temptress trying to seduce a stoic monk who remained frustratingly unmoved by her charms. This wasn’t like Andrew at all!
Isabella’s eyes fluttered half-closed as she recalled the intimate choreography of their past kisses, tentatively venturing forth with her tongue.
His strong profile cast dramatic shadows across her delicate features. She was a vision of contradictions—eyes closed in surrender, lashes quivering like butterfly wings, her expression a beautiful blend of innocence and desire. Andrew watched her with eyes dark and fathomless, like a midnight sea.
Just as Isabella began to withdraw, Andrew’s resolve crumbled. His hand rose to cradle her head, pulling her back as he claimed her lips once more.
When they finally parted, Isabella buried her flushed face against Andrew’s neck, catching her breath while secretly stealing glances at his expression.
“Why are you looking at me like that, all sneaky?” Andrew lowered his head to meet Isabella’s gaze.
Isabella’s red lips parted slightly, and she asked in a soft voice, “Darling, are you not angry anymore?”
Andrew chuckled, pulling her closer with a mix of amusement and resignation.
“From the moment you entered the study until now, I never once said I was angry, but you keep trying to placate me. What exactly am I supposed to be angry about? Isabella, instead of trying to placate me, why don’t you help me with…”
It only took Isabella a moment to understand what Andrew was implying, and when his last words hit her, her face flushed a deep crimson.
Not knowing how to respond, she raised her hand and gave Andrew a playful smack, her eyes filled with reproach. She was usually so composed and distant in front of others, but sometimes, like now, she showed a different side of herself.
Andrew was quite fond of this side of her. He caught her hand before it could fall and pressed a kiss to her palm, his tone gentle and coaxing.
“Alright, baby, I’m not angry. I was just thinking… if you’d come to me directly, you wouldn’t have had to go through all this trouble.”
Isabella’s voice softened as she said, “I just thought asking you to handle something so small would be a waste of your talent.”
As she spoke, Isabella suddenly thought of something.
“Is ‘Finger Dance’ one of your branch company’s games?”
This game had been incredibly popular years ago, but after a few updates, only the die-hard players stuck around. Recently, though, it had been updated again and seen a resurgence.
Isabella’s eyes widened as she looked at Andrew. If her memory served her correctly, Andrew had updated the game right after seeing her play it. Could the update have been for her?
She kept the thought to herself, not wanting to feel embarrassed if she was wrong. The game was so popular now; it could simply have been a savvy business move on his part.
Andrew, noticing the look on Isabella’s face, gently tapped the tip of her nose with his finger.
“You really overthink things you shouldn’t, and completely miss the obvious. If I hadn’t seen you playing, why would I have remembered such a small game?”
A small game… Isabella couldn’t help but mentally challenge him. A viral sensation sweeping the internet wasn’t exactly “small.” How big did a game need to be to be considered big?
But then, the fact that Andrew had updated the game because of her sent a warm, indescribable sweetness through her chest. She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck and murmured, “Thank you, darling, you’re so good to me.”
For some people, tonight would be a long, sleepless one.
Austen stood outside Global Entertainment, worry etched on his face. As soon as he saw Tatiana and Jedidiah emerge, he rushed toward them.
“Miss Fernandez, I didn’t want to lose the game either. I can’t afford the compensation. Please, can we talk about it?”
Tatiana was fuming at the sight of Austen. His blunder had made Global Entertainment the subject of public scorn, and the production of her drama had been halted. This could cost her the position of chairman! She just wanted to find an actor to replace him and salvage the situation.
She shot Austen a look of disdain.
“You ruined my plans, and now you want to approach me?”
Tatiana glared at his face, about to chase him away when something shifted in her mind. Her eyes narrowed as a new thought formed. She said, “I can renegotiate the compensation, but you need to convince your opponent’s team in the game to join my production, including Night Cat. If they are on board, I’ll agree to it.”
Public opinion was firmly against Global Entertainment now, but Hank and his team were another story—especially Night Cat, who had become a huge online sensation. If she could sign them, maybe everything could be salvaged.
Tatiana looked at Austen.
“You were once a member of that club, weren’t you? As long as you apologize properly, they should be willing to join Global Entertainment, right?”
Austen’s heart lifted at first, but as Tatiana finished, he was filled with dread.
“Miss Fernandez, can’t you change your request? Hank and his friends must hate me now. How could they possibly agree? And that Night Cat… she’s Isabella, the one you mentioned before. How could I ever convince her?”
Tatiana’s gaze snapped to Austen.
“You said Night Cat is who?”
Austen quickly replied, “It’s Isabella. I ran into her when I was yelling at the old man and the kid. She was the only one who knew about it!” Austen looked at Tatiana, hoping that his explanation would soften her stance.
But when she heard his words, Tatiana’s expression darkened to a terrifying degree.
“If you can’t get them, then there’s nothing to talk about!”
Tatiana brushed past Austen with a cold, dismissive air, sliding into her car with Jedidiah without a second glance.
The car’s engine roared to life, leaving Austen standing in the dust as the vehicle sped away. Tatiana sat in the back seat, her face pale, her mind churning with the words Austen had just spoken.
“Isabella, she’s ruined my plans again and again! Jedidiah, we have to find a way to make her pay!”
Jedidiah, who was driving, noticed Tatiana’s anger and sighed after a moment.
“Miss Fernandez, we can’t afford to target Isabella right now. It could backfire, and we’d end up in deeper trouble. The top priority is to secure suitable actors for the TV drama.”
Tatiana fell silent, her fury boiling just beneath the surface. Once Jedidiah had driven her home, she wasted no time—she pulled out her phone and logged into the Dark Site.
Hector had introduced the platform to her, a place where only money ruled.
Jedidiah was right. She couldn’t afford to confront Isabella directly, but there were subtler ways to remove her from the equation, ways that wouldn’t tarnish her own hands.
Isabella’s mere existence had become a thorn in her side, a constant disruption to her plans. It would be best if she vanished—just like Hector.
Having already crossed that line once, Tatiana felt no fear of doing it again. She dove in headfirst, posting a bounty notice complete with Isabella’s details.
The notice went into the site’s review process, and Tatiana stared at the words “Under Review,” her anger slightly abated as she waited.
The next morning, Isabella stirred from sleep to find Andrew on the balcony, deep in conversation over the phone.
She slipped out of bed and pushed open the glass door, stepping into the brisk morning air. The chill in Andrew’s aura immediately caught her off guard, and she wondered what could have happened. Hearing her approach, Andrew spoke into the phone.
“Do as I instructed.”
He turned toward Isabella, the coldness dissipating in an instant as he faced her.
“Did something happen at the office?” Isabella asked, her voice laced with concern.
Andrew tenderly brushed his fingers through her hair.
“It’s not office-related. Don’t worry. I’ve already had it handled. Are you hungry? Go get freshened up, and I’ll make breakfast.”
“Okay.”
Andrew softly nudged Isabella into the room, but as soon as she was gone, his demeanor shifted. The cold, calculating look returned to his eyes as he made another call.
The person on the other end picked up promptly.
“Reject the bounty notice. Since Tatiana is asking for trouble, give the info about Hector’s death to Denzel.”
“Understood.”
