Filed To Story: Their Bullied and Broken Mate by Teri Petry
He seemingly whorshipped the ground she walked on and she couldn’t wait to spend their lives together. After about a year, Uche changed and became more angry and violent. We don’t know what happened to him, or if he has always been that way and just hid it well. Anyway, they had just gotten home from a business trip to a neighboring pack that our dad had sent them on, and upon returning, Uche started to hit Aja. She tried hiding bruises with makeup, but I always spotted them. One day, Aja and I had just gotten back from shopping and she was so excited to show him what she had gotten. She had just found out she was pregnant with their first child and had bought a little t-shirt that said ‘Coming home to daddy in 9 months’, and she couldn’t wait to show him. However, before she could, he flew off the handle. He was sitting in a chair facing the door just waiting for us to walk through it. He screamed at me to leave.
I turned and ran home as fast as I could and told my dad and the twins what was happening. The three of them rushed out of our house and ran to Aja’s. When they arrived, the house was in shambles and Aja was lying on the floor with a knife sticking out of her neck. Uche was hovering on top of her screaming and crying. “OMG AJA!! WHAT HAVE I DONE?” he kept crying over and over. Our dad called Uche’s name and started to slowly approach him. Uche warned dad not to come closer, but dad didn’t listen. All he could focus on was getting to my sister. As he moved closer, Uche stood up and charged at my dad.
Before dad knew what was going on, Uche shifted and his wolf ripped my dad’s throat out. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and my twin brothers shifted and tore Uche apart. I stood there in shock with my mouth wide open. There in what was once a happy home, laid pieces of my brother-in-law, my dad and my older sister and her unborn baby. I don’t even know if she ever had the chance to tell him about the baby. My brother Liam wrapped his arm around my shoulders and took me to the pack hospital. I was admitted for shock and was catatonic for close to a month. I didn’t speak to anyone, and had to be put on a feeding tube because I couldn’t eat. Our mother would come and sit with me, but she was dealing with her own sanity. After our father was killed, she lost herself. She stopped taking care of herself, and even when she was with me, she wasn’t truly there.
Loki and Liam were now acting as Alpha’s, and Loki made the decision to place our mother in a facility that could monitor her. She passed away shortly before I came out of my catatonic state. In less than a month, I had lost my whole world. After my release from the hospital, my brothers never let me out of their sight. I went everywhere with them, including pack business, and that is how I met Jason. Liam and Loki were not overly fond of his family, nor the Alpha of Mystic Shadows. They tried their hardest to avoid any kind of meetings where they were involved. They knew something wasn’t right from the start, and warned Jason that if as much as a hair was harmed on my body, the consequences would be dire. Fast track to our present. Jason has come leaps and bounds from the mindset he used to have. He is more patient and kind. I’m not going to lie and say we didn’t face our own problems, but he always kept his word. He has never hurt me. Once I had our daughter, Trinity, he was a completely changed man, and had even started trying to make amends and protect Melian. Now, come hell or high water, he was saving his sister. I am so proud of him, but terrified of the situation right now.
My brothers agreed that we could relocate to Blood Moon, but we had to denounce any ties and loyalties we had to Mystic Shadows upon leaving the territory. I had no problem with it, but wasn’t sure how Jason would feel. I already knew Mel would be on board. Jason finally called me back and the pain in his voice shook me to my core. “Babe, she is barely holding onto life right now.” I cried. “What should I do? Where do I take her that they won’t call dad.” he cried from the other end of the receiver.
I had to compose myself to be strong for him. The tears started to flow but I had to be there for my mate and sister-in-law. I told him to immediately take her to the airport in Astoria, and I would meet him there. Blood Moon’s private plane was being sent for us so that we could get away quicker without being tailed. I just hoped she could hold on long enough. Jason and I came up with a plan, and we hung up and I jumped into action. Loading our SUV with our clothing, as well as some for Mel, and our important documents, I got Trinity out of bed and put her in her car seat.
I pulled out of the garage and hit the button to lower the garage door. I sat there for a moment surveying the area to make sure no one was watching our house, and pulled out of the driveway. I was praying that none of Jason’s brothers were at the gate to question me about leaving so late, but unfortunately those prayers weren’t answered. His brother Michael was working on guard duty at the gates tonight. FUCK! “Hey Becca, everything kosher?” he asked. “Yea, Trinity isn’t feeling well, and Jason isn’t back yet. I am just running into town to grab her some Pedialite and fever reducer. Be back shortly.” I told him, and he waved us on. Whew, that was close.
Trying to hang on
*Melian POV*
Watching Jason walk out that door caused a fear that I had never felt rip through my body. Something about the tension in the air, and Eric and my dad’s demeanor screamed that this could possibly not end well. What am I saying? Of course, it’s not going to end well. They are about to beat and torture me for reasons that are oblivious to me. After they made sure Jason was gone, my dad turned to me with an evil aura about him and said, “Now, Melly, you are going to be a good girl and take what you deserve. You will do exactly what you are told at all times. If you beg, plead, grovel or whatever you choose to do to try and get yourself out of this, it will only get worse. The more you scream or cry, the longer it will last. Are we at an understanding?” I couldn’t find the words to answer him as I tried to process what he said, and that silence warranted a backhand to the face. My cheek stung as he demanded an answer, and I finally whispered out that I understood.
However, the damage had been done. I had pissed him even more off and I knew that there was worse coming my way. He instructed my brother, Todd, to hold my head back and dad straddled over top of me and began to punch me in the face. I had called him daddy out of sheer desperation, and it triggered an anger in him that I had never seen before. With the first punch, I felt my nose break and the blood pour from it. He then grabbed my arm and snapped it in two. The pain that I felt left me speechless. My mouth opened but nothing came out of it. Tears were streaming down my face now, and I hoped that didn’t anger them further. The three of them hovered over me laughing as I cried. I had never felt so alone in all of my torment.
They laughed and talked for a few moments, and I felt Eric pull my head back. The last thing I could remember was him bending over and licking the blood off of my face. My eyes widened at his actions, and he then took my head and slammed it on the table. That was the last thing I could remember before hearing Jason’s voice. It was at a distance, but I knew he had come back for me. As his voice got closer, I tried to move. Pain shot through my body unlike anything I had ever felt. I was cold, freezing actually. Was I…..naked? Why was I naked? All I could do was let out a low moan to let Jason know I wasn’t dead, but the panic I felt inside was screaming. What had they done to me while I was knocked out cold? I heard Jason whisper the words ‘What have they done to you?’ and I knew it was worse than I knew. He took his shirt and put it over my head and placed me on what I think was a table.
He walked away from me briefly and I heard him calling and talking to Becca, my sister-in-law and friend. I couldn’t make out their conversation but it was intense. After they hung up, he came back to me and whispered in my ear, “Sis, I know this is going to hurt, but I need to pick you up and carry you to my car. Please stay with me, Melly. Please hang on.” All I could do was moan, and when he picked me up, I felt like all my bones were breaking again. He talked to me the whole time he was moving me. Pleading for me to not let go. I started to feel weaker as time went on, and could feel myself slipping. We needed to get to a doctor quickly, but I couldn’t convey that to him. We were speeding towards whatever destination we were going to when his phone rang again.
When he answered, I could hear my dad’s voice at the other end. My heart started racing with fear, and I had to remind myself that he was on the phone, not here with us. “Jason, where are you son?” I heard him ask. Jason, of course, lied and told him he was working out with a friend in the neighboring town. Good call Big Brother. Jason asked him why he was calling and my dad replied with, “Jason, I don’t know how to tell you this, so I’m just going to say it. Your sister is dead. Melian got loose and found a broken piece of glass, and slit her own throat. She did it right in front of Eric and I. We couldn’t stop her.” WHAT?!?!?! He just told Jason that I had killed myself? He truly is an insane lunatic. Jason disconnected the call and gave out a slight chuckle. “Well Melly, these dickheads are in for a rude awakening, aren’t they? They actually left you for dead, and are trying to play it off like you offed yourself. They are going to be super surprised when they find out you aren’t dead, and that I’m the one that found you. They will pay for this, Melly, I promise you!” he said to me. I internally smiled at his sincerity, and felt the darkness starting to consume me again. Hurry Jason, please, I begged him. I just wish he could hear me.
I started to awaken as we arrived at our destination, and could still barely move. I let out a yelp as I tried to move my legs. I had forgotten that I had a snapped arm and ankle. Gifts from my lovely older brothers. I whimpered out Jason’s name and my voice actually worked. “Jay, where are we? Help.” I heard him gasp, and then tell me to hang on that we were almost to the runway. Runway? The car came to a stop and he flung his door open. I could hear him talking to what sounded like Rebecca before he opened my door. He wrapped my in a blanket and told me he was moving me onto a plane. An airplane? What is going on?
Moving on
*Melian’s POV*
Jason picked me up and carried me onto an airplane. He sat me in one of the seats and reclined it back so that I could be comfortable. I started to stir, and I heard Rebecca come close to me. “Mel, it’s Becca, can you hear me?” she asked. I gave a slight moan, and tried to move my head, but that was a mistake. My head hurt so bad that moving it shot jolts of pain through it. I tried to open my eyes but they were still swollen shut. I opened my mouth and tried to speak, but my throat was so dry that it hurt to talk.
