Andrew’s eyes narrowed, a teasing glint dancing within them as his gaze settled on Isabella’s fingers, which were awkwardly clawing at the empty air. Each of her ten fingers was coated in a thick layer of cream.

Isabella found herself trapped. Guilt twisted inside her, and with Andrew’s commanding presence and her hands held tight, she couldn’t help but feel an undeniable pull toward him.

“Um, I just wanted you to see my hands…” Isabella couldn’t bring herself to meet Andrew’s eyes.

Raising an eyebrow, Andrew gave her wrists a little shake, his voice rich and low as he teased, “Is that so?”

Isabella’s ears tingled, her heartbeat quickening. She nodded, feigning confidence. “Of course! I wanted to wash my hands.

They’re covered in cream. Can’t I?”

“Of course, you can. But if you wanted to wash them, why did you bring them to me, instead of the faucet? Or…”

Isabella’s brow furrowed in suspicion. Why couldn’t Andrew just finish his sentences? But she felt relieved that he seemed to believe her explanation.

She cleared her throat softly. “You don’t need to finish that sentence. You’re right.”

She just wanted to wash her hands now, hoping the topic would finally be over.

A knowing smile tugged at Andrew’s lips. “I’m right? Okay.”

He didn’t let go of Isabella’s wrists but instead tightened his grip.

That small gesture had Isabella’s focus entirely on his strong, steady hands.

But then, her wide eyes were filled with shock. “Andrew, stop that!” She tried to pull her hands back, but it was useless. She could only watch as Andrew leaned down, his tongue slowly, deliberately licking the cream from her fingertips.

The soft touch of his tongue sent a shiver through her skin, leaving her restless. It was said that fingers were the most sensitive, and all she could think of was how Andrew wasn’t just touching her fingers—he was touching her heart.

“Enough, enough, Andrew! Stop licking!”

A tremor ran down Isabella’s spine, and she called out to him, pleading for mercy. Only then did he release her hands.

He glanced at her hands, then pulled out a wipe from his pocket, gently cleaning her fingers.

Originally, it had been meant to wipe the cream from her forehead, but now it was tending to her hands.

The cool, lightly-scented wipe swept across Isabella’s skin, soothing her. As his care enveloped her, Isabella forgot the playful tension from moments ago.

The warmth that had flushed her cheeks began to fade, replaced by a peaceful mood she couldn’t quite explain.

The truth behind Patton Group CEO Dane’s affair was exposed and confirmed. Docie faced the consequences of her actions, and those following the matter affirmed Dane’s upright character.

Dane’s exemplary conduct and consistent integrity propelled him into the spotlight as a model figure in elite society. Known for his remarkable career achievements, unwavering dedication to philanthropy, and steadfast loyalty to his wife, he became a symbol of excellence and moral fortitude. What was more, under his leadership, the Patton Group had risen to new heights.

Everything had unfolded just as Isabella had predicted. Patton Group had avoided being affected and instead turned the crisis into an opportunity. Dane knew that much of the credit belonged to Isabella, so he couldn’t help but call her.

“Isabella, your foresight is so impressive that even I feel inferior. I think it’s a waste of your talent to stay in the public relations department. Are there any other departments you’re interested in? Tell me, and I’ll arrange it for you.”

Were there other departments Isabella was interested in? Isabella’s fingers lightly drummed against the desk as she contemplated. However, after thinking for a while, she couldn’t think of anything. Since she was already helping Dane manage the public relations department, she might as well look for other areas where she could also share ideas.

“Let me look at the other departments in Patton Group first.

Then, I’ll tell you,” Isabella said.

“Okay, no problem. I’ll ask my secretary to take you around so you can have a good look.”

Not long after Dane hung up, his secretary came to Isabella’s office.

“Miss Patton, Mr. Patton asked me to show you around so you can familiarize yourself with each department.”

Dane’s secretary had been with him for many years. He and Dane had very similar personalities. He was always meticulous and aloof, wearing thin-rimmed glasses. But now that he was with Isabella, a warm smile appeared on his face.

The secretary couldn’t help but reflect on the negotiation among three companies that he had attended with Isabella. Since that negotiation, he had started respecting her the way he respected Dane. But after the recent crisis surrounding Patton Group, he admired her even more.

When the crisis surrounding Patton Group was resolved, the secretary’s respect for Isabella had almost surpassed his respect for Dane.

When Isabella first joined Patton Group, she had a broad understanding of its structure, operations, and various departments. However, her knowledge was only superficial. Patton Group was a dynamic organization, constantly evolving to adapt to market demands and industry trends. Many things had changed since then.

After a thorough tour of each department, Isabella gained a clearer sense of direction.

The secretary ensured that each department head gave her a detailed presentation of their team’s operations, challenges, and goals. Isabella took careful notes, observing the dynamics within each department, the skills and strengths of each team, and the areas that seemed ripe for innovation or improvement.

Patton Group covered a wide range of industries. Her father and brother’s control over the company’s development direction was precise. However, the Patton family didn’t have many members. Unlike many family-run businesses that relied on nepotism or family connections to fill key positions, Patton Group embraced a meritocratic system.

The company sought top talent from outside the family, bringing in professionals with the best skills and track records in their respective fields.

Isabella had developed a comprehensive set of company regulations aimed at maximizing employee potential, fostering growth, and ensuring equitable recognition and rewards.

These were based on meticulous research, benchmarking against industry standards, and understanding the nuances of employee engagement and performance metrics with the help of the corporate guides at Homelight Enterprise. If applied to Patton Group, these regulations would greatly benefit both the company and the employees who contributed value to it.

Isabella followed Dane’s secretary to his office and shared her thoughts with him.

The more Dane listened, the more surprised he became. He couldn’t help but walk up to Isabella, place his hands on her shoulders, and say, “Isabella, you’ve given me another surprise. With you helping me here, I finally don’t feel like I’m fighting alone.”

Dane had the same idea at the beginning of the year, but it was just a basic thought that hadn’t been implemented yet. He never expected Isabella to come up with a complete plan.

Dane gestured toward the plush leather sofa. “Let’s sit there.

This feels like something worth discussing in detail,” he said warmly. After their long conversation, Dane immediately called all the department heads for a meeting, appointing Isabella to lead the new initiative to improve company management.

Dane’s reputation for strong leadership and decisive action loomed large over Patton Group. His word was law within the company, and his decisions were rarely questioned openly. However, his announcement that Isabella would be in charge of the new management initiative caused a ripple of unease among the employees. Although they outwardly claimed to follow Isabella’s arrangements, there was a subtle wariness toward her that they couldn’t quite hide.

Isabella noticed these reactions but chose not to address them directly. She believed that once she implemented the changes and everyone adapted, they would naturally come to appreciate the shift. She saw their initial doubts as a test of their resilience.

After the meeting, Isabella returned to her office, opened her computer, and began outlining her plans. She intended to implement them step by step in the coming period.

After work, Andrew arrived at Patton Group to pick up Isabella. He waited downstairs for twenty minutes but still hadn’t seen her. He sent her multiple messages, but she hadn’t replied to any of them.

Andrew glanced at his phone, his brows furrowing in concern. He got out of the car and walked toward the building.

The exclusive elevator had his fingerprint registered, so he made his way straight to Isabella’s office.

He knocked softly and entered, only to find Isabella still sitting at her desk, facing the computer. She sensed someone entering the room and looked up. When she saw Andrew, she blinked, momentarily caught off guard by his unexpected appearance.

“What are you doing here?” Isabella asked, her voice tinged with confusion.

Andrew walked around to the opposite side of her desk. He didn’t acknowledge the document on her computer but instead raised his wrist to show her the time.

“Sweetheart, it’s been almost half an hour since the end of the workday. Why didn’t you tell me you were working overtime?”

Had it really been this long since the workday ended?

Isabella had instructed her secretary to only disturb her for urgent matters, but she hadn’t intended to become so engrossed in her work that she’d lost track of time entirely. A pang of guilt made her turn off her computer and face Andrew.

“I’m sorry, I lost track of time. You should learn to be more flexible—I may not have told you, but you could have asked,” she said with a small, apologetic smile.

Andrew’s expression was one of gentle exasperation. “Sweetheart, I did try. I sent messages and called, but you never responded.”

“You did?” Isabella reached for her phone, only to find it completely dead.

Andrew crossed to her side with a resigned smile. “You got so absorbed in your work. Aren’t you exhausted after working all afternoon?”

Isabella shook her head. Now that she had broken away from her task, she felt strangely unfulfilled. “I’m fine. Let’s head home—I can finish the rest there.”

Andrew didn’t press her about why she’d been so busy that day. Instead, his thoughts shifted to what delicious meal he could prepare to lift her spirits.

The drive home was quiet, save for the soft music playing through the speakers, Isabella’s mind still tangled in the details of work.
