(Scarlett)
I sighed as I kept my arms wrapped around myself.
Having gone back to my house. I needed to be alone to process everything that I had gone through, what I just heard, and how Alexander reacted.
I knew that Luna Katelyn was playing with a fine line of fire, especially since she chose to neglect the fact that she was the pack’s previous Luna.
If she was the one who burned down the house that night, it only meant that she not only risked her son’s life, the heir Alpha, but also killed Alpha Mathew’s parents, and mine. And if that were true, then I wondered how she managed to put her head on a pillow and sleep every night. How she looked at her mate, or how she looked at me.
So many questions played through my mind, and I couldn’t find an answer to any of them, but I knew not to dig too much as not to hurt myself. I was taught that much at least, and if I were being honest, it was something that benefited me now more than ever.
The house’s door was opened, not that I bothered locking it, and Alexander walked inside. I smiled at him, my smile weak, but I still f*orced it, not wanting him to feel guilty about what we just heard. The woman was still his mum and the last thing I wanted to do was try and create problems between them, especially since they would end up leading to her death, and that itself was something that I did not want to carry the burden of. If she was to die based on whatever crime she did, if she had done it, then I wouldn’t be the cause of it. As much as I was hurt by what she did, I would rather choose to stay away from that than be involved in something that would make me regret my decision even if I had every right to take it. Alexander wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in for a hug, and wrapping my arms around him, I let myself melt in his embrace. My heart raced, and I didn’t know whether it was because he was holding me or me generally being content despite the pain that I was in, but either way, the last thing I wanted right now was to ruin the moment.
“They told me that you were here” he said, pulling away to look at me.
He ran his finger over my jawline, gently brushing it over my cheek before cupping it. I leaned in to his t*ouch and he smiled “are you okay?”
“I am fine, Alexander, I just needed time to think. Clear my mind a bit” I said, choosing to be honest. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that I needed my pace, nor was it like he was going to judge me for it; the man knew for fact that I was more scared than I ever was, why?
Because I lived with my parents’ killer for years and the worst part about it was that I couldn’t really do anything, at least, not alone, and I knew that one wrong move toward her could lead to my death if I didn’t have any proper evidence. “I know that you’re upset after what you heard…”
“I am not upset, Alexander, it is more about me being confused. You know, you think you know someone, grew up thinking that they are your parent only to find out that it was all a lie. Ignoring that, I suddenly find out that the person that I called mum until very recently was the person who put me through all that pain to begin with, or at least, could be” I said sadly. Alexander stayed quiet, listening to me “I am sorry for my vent, I know that you did not come here for that…”
“Actually, I did” he said, stopping me “I don’t want you holding it in, because I know that if you don’t, you will block it inside, and…”
“Alexander, I know that the last thing you want to hear is…”
“You are my mate, Scarlett. I want you to stop acting like you are a stranger who is to simply serve me” Alexander said, stopping me “there will come times when you would need to vent, and I would be listening to you. And there would come times when I need to vent, and I need to grow angry, and I know that you would be there to listen to me, comfort me, cradle, and love me the way that you always have”
I smiled as tears formed in my eyes, thankful for what I just heard before wrapping my arms around him. Alexander wrapped his arms around me, hugging me back. He ran his fingers through my hair before k*issing the crown of my head.
He pulled away, and cupping my cheeks, he pecked my l*ips gently. My eyes met his and he smiled at me “I love you, Neonata, and I never want you to forget that…”
Alexander and I walked through the pack as we assembled the young shifters, wanting to give them the instructions, knowing that some of them, a large number actually, were going to be first timers. And that alone was going to give us a more hectic night than we were used to. I didn’t know whether or not my wolf would allow me to shift, but either way, I knew that I would be around the pack members, making sure that things didn’t go wrong, and would also be around Alexander whose wolf would be keeping his eye on me, probably waiting for me.
“I will go and take care of the wolves at the arena, yeah?” I said, and Alexander nodded, letting me go. I smiled and walked toward them, knowing that most of them were the older wolves, and were in training. The training that we got here at the pack was intense, and despite not getting most of it. I knew now that it was possible that Luna Katelyn simply didn’t want me training, I was still curious about them.
Now, it was the betas and gammas who were training, combat to be more specific, and seeing me approach, they stopped to smile at me. Thankfully, at least they were friendlier than Alexander was to me in the past and Luna Katelyn. “Scarlett” Mason said, wrapping an arm around me. I laughed, and removed his arm as I turned to face him. The man had gone through a fuss trying to get me home, and when I did get back here, he was one of the first to be my real friend. The other pack members, under the influence of Delilah, used to avoid speaking to me as not to piss her off more than she normally was.
“Hello to you too” I said, teasing him.
“To what do we owe the honor?” He asked, speaking in a posh tone. I laughed and shook my head at the man. He smirked and looked at he pack members who were listening, waiting for what I had to say. “I was actually curious about your training” I said shyly. He chuckled, and nodded at the men who smiled at me. Their smiles welcoming despite my shyness.
“Have you ever tried combat?” a gamma, Lisa, asked. I shook my head at her, and she nodded. “Do you want to try?” Mason asked, making my eyes widen “we’ll teach you the basics now, and as days go on, you can go a lot more advanced”
“You would?” I asked, and he looked at the others only for another girl, Inna, to pull me in the middle of the field. My eyes widened in surprise, and taking my hands in hers, she fixed them in the proper boxing stance.
“First, we would need to work on making your punches grow stronger. You might have sore muscles in the morning, but that is completely normal considering that your b*ody would be somewhat fatigue. Second, we will work on your stance and stamina, and that would get better as days go by anyway” she said, and I nodded. Jason, showed me two bandages, and taking my hand in his, he wrapped it for me.
“These should keep your hands from getting too many cuts. Mostly, you wouldn’t be needing them much in this level, but it’s still better to wear them during training” he said and I nodded as I watched him do it for me.
“Your back has to be straight, and as a wolf, at his point, you would need to depend on reflex and instinct. It is what makes your rank increase in a pack at times. One can go from being an omega to being an Alpha or his beta if it is not a battle of Alphas. In your case, as Luna, you would need to know the basics of fighting” Lisa said, and I nodded “I believe that Lady Nikita did not teach you that”
“You knew about that?”
“Most Lunas in this pack go and train there. If they are outsiders, and I believe that you remember that I came from a different pack” she said, smiling at me “don’t worry, she may be tough, and can be very harsh, but it is mostly for your benefit as Luna”
“I didn’t know that…”
“These are small details that are mostly not discussed. I assumed that since you grew up here that things would be different, but it seems like we all undergo the same process after finding our mates” she said, and I smiled, nodding at her “so, how about we start our first course before the sun sets?”
