Bryan raised an eyebrow. “Your gestures didn’t look like you only met twice.”
Edger laughed when he saw a little change in his Alpha’s behavior. He never asked him for a girl before.
“She is a friendly girl. Anyone would love her company.”
Bryan stared at him without saying anything. His gaze made Edger feel nervous.
“Don’t worry, bro. I don’t like to play the second lead in anyone’s story.”
Bryan’s eyes darkened upon hearing him. Edger raised his hands as if he were surrendering. “What? I was just kidding.”
Bryan looked away from him and started to use his phone.
“Alpha, I know that you don’t have anything for her. It’s just that you started to feel bad for her. Her life is messed up with this mate bond, and even if you want, you can’t reject her. That’s why you are helping her to get a good life.”
Bryan glanced at Sophia, who was talking to a staff member and ordering food for herself.
“You are right. I’m helping her because she is Abraham’s sister.”
He shifted his attention to Edger and inquired,
“Why did you show up here today?”
Edger averted his gaze from him and replied,
“It’s about the Moon Valley pack.”
Bryan’s expression changed after hearing the name of the pack.
“What about it?”
“Alpha Victor Laurant has returned to his pack. His father will hand over the pack to him soon.”
Bryan’s face turned fiercer as he stared at the black screen of his phone.
Victor Laurant was Mila’s brother. He was abroad for a long time. People said he had a health problem, and he was abroad to cure it.
Everyone used to think that his father fixed his sister’s marriage with Bryan to get an alliance with him, or maybe later, he would give his pack’s responsibility to Bryan. But his son had returned to his pack now, in good health. Going forward, he did not have any concerns about his pack.
“Is he fully recovered?” Bryan asked.
“Yeah. His pack members are saying so.”
“It’s good then. That guy should take over his responsibility like a man.”
Edger glanced at his grimace and asked,
“You canceled the engagement last time. So do you think he wil-“
“The staff said they would serve our food to the table soon.”
Delta Edger got interrupted by Sophia.
She took a seat in the chair that she had occupied earlier. She observed that both of the males remained silent. There were distinct expressions on each of their faces.
One of them appeared to be grimacing, and the other appeared to be becoming anxious.
“Is everything okay?” she asked after clearing her throat.
“Yes, of course,” Edged replied, getting on his feet.
Sophia looked at him. “Are you leaving?”
“Yeah, I came here to discuss something. I’m done here. I hope you will enjoy your food. You need to eat a lot. Being our Alpha’s assistant is not an easy job.”
Sophia smiled at him and said goodbye to him.
When she shifted her gaze from Edger, who was leaving the cafe, she fixed her eyes on Bryan.
Bryan seemed to be thinking something.
“Alpha”
One of the staff members arrived to bring the meal to the table.
Bryan lost his appetite. His mind was sulking about something else.
During this time, Sophia waited at the table for Bryan to begin eating. She observed that he was not moving a little bit.
After grabbing a plate, she proceeded to serve Bryan some food on it before positioning the platter in front of him.
“Alpha,” she called him to bring his attention back to the table.
Bryan came out of his thoughts and looked at her. He glanced at his plate. The slight move that she made made him feel strange.
He shrugged off his thoughts and began to eat. It was brought to his attention that Sophia did not take anything from the dishes that were presented to him. She was only eating from her plate.
He wanted to tell her to eat from those plates, but then he refrained from doing so. He ignored her and continued to eat.
The whole day, Sophia tried to focus on her work. She promised herself to take her job seriously. She decided to put aside the mate bond and work for her future.
When it was time to leave the office, she walked out of her cabin and knocked on the door of Bryan’s office.
“Alpha, won’t you go home?”
Bryan glanced at his watch and sighed. He gave her a nod and stood up.
Both of them left the cabin and headed to the elevator.
As Sophia wanted to enter the other one, Bryan stopped her by asking,
“Where are you going?”
Sophia pointed her finger to the next elevator.
“You can use this one.” Bryan said this and entered his elevator. Sophia was stunned while standing there.
Bryan gave her a look, which made her return to her senses. She rushed into the elevator before it was going to close.
“Thanks, Alpha.”
If she used it from now on, she would not have to wait for a long time in the work hour. It would make her work easier.
When they went out of the company, Sophia bowed to him with a grin. Today, she was relieved that he did not irritate her in any way.
“Thanks for the job, Alpha. I promise I will try to do it properly and will never give you a chance to complain about my work.”
After saying that, she turned around and headed to the bus stop.
Bryan ordered his driver to follow Sophia after getting into his car.
The driver came to a stop across from the bus stop.
Bryan stared at Sophia for a long time until she got on a bus and left.
Sophia’s POV
Fresh rumors marked the beginning of a new day. People started to talk about me as soon as I walked onto campus.
Did I become the talk of the town once again?
I glanced at a girl and asked,
“What are you all whispering about? Tell me some gossip. I also want to learn new things.”
“Sophia, have you not seen Luisa’s post yet?”
I frowned upon hearing her question. “What post?”
I took out my phone and checked our university’s online group to see what Luisa had posted.
Her new accusations shocked me. She posted a picture of me and Delta Edger laughing with each other in our company’s cafe.
I read the caption, which looked more like an article to me.
“Our Sofia has found her new target. After our Alpha’s brother, she has now seduced our pack’s delta. She lied to Bruce about my project in an attempt to prove me wrong. When she realized she still didn’t have a chance to join the Morrison Group, she reached for our Delta. She has suddenly been appointed as the CEO’s personal secretary. Can you imagine it? We all worked so hard just to obtain a chance at an internship at that company, but one girl took the other choice and got a permanent position there.”
I clutched my phone with my fingers as wrath rose inside me. I almost forgot about this girl and her conspiracy.
