Isabella leaned back in her seat, her discomfort evident. She hesitated for a moment before speaking softly. “Don’t you think this is a little… too cautious? Maybe I’m just imagining things.”

Grasping her hand firmly, Andrew looked into her eyes with sincerity. “Isabella, you matter to me more than anything else. I won’t take any chances with your safety.” Isabella managed a small smile and nodded. “Alright!”

As they reached the hotel, Isabella pulled out her phone, planning to call Ailyn about visiting her father the next day. But before she could dial, Ailyn’s name lit up her screen.

“Miss Patton, my people saw you and Mr. Klein at the airport. Why stay at a hotel? Come to my manor instead. I’ve already made all the arrangements. You’ll be much more comfortable here.”

Isabella paused, her mind piecing things together. So, those people outside the airport were arranged by Ailyn. She bit her lip, feeling a pang of irritation at being watched.

“Thank you, Miss Vettel,” she replied politely, keeping her tone neutral. “But the hotel is fine. I’ve grown used to staying at a hotel on my trips.”

“Alright then,” Ailyn said, her tone tinged with disappointment. “If you need anything, don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ll have it taken care of right away.”

“Thank you. I appreciate it,” Isabella replied.

“By the way, would you like to see our Liliuma later?” Ailyn offered warmly.

Isabella politely refused again. “I think I’ll pass today. I plan to rest and prepare for my visit to your father tomorrow.”

“Of course. Have a good rest then, Miss Patton,” Ailyn replied smoothly, her words followed by an extended series of polite formalities. Isabella listened patiently but seized the first pause to end the call with a polite goodbye.

Once it was over, she let out a quiet sigh, setting her phone aside.

Andrew walked over, having finished unpacking. He sat beside her on the sofa and handed her a glass of juice. “If it gets too much, just let me handle it next time,” he said gently.

Isabella took a sip of the juice and leaned back. “It’s fine. It’s only a few days. Let’s hope it all goes smoothly.” Wanting to be well-prepared for the next day, Isabella and Andrew decided to call it an early night and went to bed.

The following day, Andrew left early to discuss the collaboration with the Vettel family. Meanwhile, Ailyn escorted Isabella to meet her father.

Rather than a hospital, Ailyn’s father resided in one of the grand castles on their sprawling manor.

The path leading to the castle showcased a breathtaking garden that was meticulously maintained, while all the servants had been dismissed to ensure privacy.

Walking beside Ailyn, Isabella couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer wealth of the Vettel family. The castle’s interior blended historical elegance with cutting-edge modernity. The medical equipment and staff stationed within rivaled those of a top-tier private hospital.

The grandeur was awe-inspiring.

“Dr. Mia, please follow me,” Ailyn said respectfully, addressing Isabella by her formal title.

Isabella was carrying the medical kit her mentor had entrusted to her.

They took the elevator to the top floor, where Ailyn’s father awaited.

Upon entering the room, Isabella noticed two other individuals present—a man and a woman who bore a striking resemblance to each other.

Ailyn stepped forward with a smile, gesturing toward the man. “Dr. Mia, allow me to introduce my uncle.”

“Dr. Mia, your reputation precedes you. It is an honor to have you here,” Ailyn’s uncle greeted Isabella formally, speaking fluently in her mother tongue.

Isabella shook his hand, her gaze briefly shifting to the young woman standing behind him, but Ailyn made no effort to introduce her.

The woman noticed Isabella’s attention and stepped forward casually, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. “Dr. Mia, hello. I’m Albertine Vettel, Ailyn’s cousin.” She extended her hand, the lollipop in her mouth bobbing slightly as she spoke.

“Albertine, mind your manners or leave,” Ailyn’s uncle said sharply, his tone laced with disapproval.

Albertine blinked, feigning innocence, and kept her hand extended. Sensing the underlying tension, Isabella decided to avoid making things awkward and shook Albertine’s hand. “Hello, Albertine,” she said calmly.

Albertine’s eyes sparkled with amusement as she glanced at their clasped hands. “Dr. Mia, you’re not at all what I expected—in a good way. I like you,” she said with a grin.

Before Isabella could respond, Albertine pulled another lollipop from her pocket and slipped it into Isabella’s coat. Turning to her father, she smirked. “I’ll leave now, Father. I’m looking forward to your good news.”

After Albertine left, Ailyn’s uncle turned back to Isabella, his face apologetic. “Dr. Mia, I hope Albertine didn’t upset you.”

Isabella offered a composed smile. “Not at all,” she said, ignoring the lollipop tucked in her pocket.

She shifted her attention to the man lying motionless on the bed, his eyes closed. “Let me examine the patient’s condition first.”

Isabella pressed two fingers against the pulse of the Vettel family’s patriarch, her gaze narrowing in deep concentration. After a moment, she withdrew her hand, turning her attention to the medical reports.

“Dr. Mia, how’s my father doing?” Ailyn asked, her voice laced with nerves.

With a calm, steady demeanor, Isabella handed the reports back to her. “He can recover, but I’ll need some skilled assistants. Make sure they take proper care of the patient’s health over the next two days. I’ll be performing a craniotomy.”

“Understood. I’ll make all the necessary arrangements.” The physical condition of the head of the Vettel family didn’t meet the requirements for a craniotomy now, so Isabella spent the next two days coordinating with the assistants Ailyn had arranged for her to make sure his physical condition improved.

Meanwhile, Andrew had been making significant headway in cementing partnerships with other prominent families in Mafelen. Only the Vettel family’s agreement remained unresolved.

That evening, Isabella and Andrew went to one of the city’s finest restaurants. Before their meal was served, Isabella excused herself to visit the restroom.

Outside the restroom, she spotted a tall man gripping a young woman’s wrist forcefully. The woman was visibly distressed, struggling against his grip in a desperate attempt to break free.

In an unfamiliar land, surrounded by the elite of high society, Isabella hesitated to intervene.

Logic whispered to walk away, but the woman’s terrified voice gripped her conscience. She couldn’t ignore it. “Let her go!”

Isabella stepped forward, her hand deftly twisting the man’s wrist to break his grip. She then swiftly placed herself between him and the woman, shielding her. To her astonishment, the woman was Albertine, who looked just as shocked to see her.

The man, caught off guard, cursed under his breath, his face twisting with anger. He stepped forward as though to retaliate but froze when his gaze landed on Isabella’s striking, foreign features.

“Well, well, a beauty from Lorpond. You want to play the hero?”

His tone dripped with condescension as he adjusted his collar, his eyes shamelessly roving over Isabella. “Do you even know who I am?”

Under the weight of the man’s lecherous gaze, Isabella’s expression hardened, her demeanor turning icy as she prepared to leave with Albertine.

“Did I say you could leave?” The man sneered, displeasure etched into every word.

Isabella met his gaze, her face an unreadable mask. “And what do you want?”

“What do I want? I want you to save her and trade yourself for her.”

Albertine, who had been paralyzed by fear, finally found her voice. “Alan, stop! She’s an honored guest of the Vettel family. Are you looking for trouble?”

To her astonishment, Alan Davis let out an arrogant laugh, showing no hint of apology. “An honored guest? Relax. I’m not planning to kill her. She’ll still be the Vettel family’s precious guest after tonight. You are a member of the Vettel family, and yet here you are, in my grasp.”

“She’s not like me. She’s important!” Albertine’s cheeks flushed with rage and fear.

Two days earlier, Albertine had angered her father and Ailyn with her behavior in front of Dr. Mia, leading to her being offered up to Alan as a bargaining chip. If Dr. Mia were hurt because of her and the treatment was postponed, her father and Ailyn would punish her far more harshly than simply handing her over to Alan.

“Enough. I’m in a good mood tonight. I’ll spare you the trouble of serving me. Boys, take this woman from Lorpond away.”

At his command, four burly bodyguards emerged from the shadows of the corridor.

Startled, Albertine quickly urged Isabella, “Miss Patton, run! I’ll hold them off.”

“No need.” Isabella’s voice was steady as she placed Albertine against the wall. With swift, precise movements, she intercepted the first bodyguard, landing a sharp kick to his knee.

Although they were much larger, the four bodyguards couldn’t overpower the slender Isabella. Alan was stunned by her combat skills and calm composure, and instead of feeling threatened, his desire for her only grew stronger.

Grinning with eager anticipation, he prepared to dive into the fray and capture Isabella himself. But before he could make his move, a powerful force struck him from behind. He couldn’t react quickly enough, and in an instant, Andrew had him pinned to the floor, his limbs contorted painfully.

Isabella had just finished with the last bodyguard. Hearing the noise behind her, she turned around and spotted Andrew, her cold, indifferent expression softening for a brief moment. “Andrew.”

Andrew glanced at her, his gaze catching the faint redness on her arm. His concern rose as he wondered if there were other injuries hidden beneath her clothes. His dark eyes flared with anger as he drove his foot into Alan, who was attempting to rise, sending him crashing back to the floor.

“You dared to lay a hand on her?”

Andrew’s piercing gaze locked onto Alan, radiating an intense aura of intimidation that seemed to crush any resistance.
