I smiled at my daughter who slept on my c*hest.

The two of us have been getting closer as days went by, and seeing as she was willingly coming to me now, my wolf was slowly starting to accept her.

“How are you feeling, Neonata?”

Alexander asked, smiling at me. The two of us have gotten somewhat closer in the past two days despite the issue with Delilah. My arm, which I knew was what he was referring to, was still injured despite the doctors adding ointment and medicine to it.

As a wolf, I knew that I should have healed, but as a weak wolf who was shutting me off, I knew that she was not helping me, no longer having the will to live to begin with let alone allow me to survive. “I am fine, Alexander” I said, smiling at him “the cuts have stopped bleeding, but it would take them a while to fully heal; other than that, I am okay”

“Well, you know that I have to keep checking on you, as you tend to have a habit of choosing to stay quiet when it hurts. I understand that you don’t want to worry me and all, but I need to know” he said, making me smile. Another thing that became a habit with him was that he was growing more protective as days passed. His arms would wrap around me in his sleep, and most of the time, I would find myself sleeping on his c*hest. At times, I even wondered whether it was him who put me on his c*hest or I moved, but I didn’t really mind, he was comfortable to sleep on, and needless to say, after all the hell that I have been through, I wanted to have a little peace.

“That is because you go too protective over the smallest of ouches. I tend to get hurt like everyone else does, but it seems like you are no longer accepting that” I said, smiling at him. Our daughter, who was sleeping peacefully in my arms opened her eyes to look at the two of us before giggling when she saw her father.

She tried moving from my arms, and despite wanting to hold her, growing somewhat jealous at the fact that I missed too much in her life that she was more dependent and attached to Alexander than she will ever be to me.

I knew not to comment about it, but it didn’t mean that it did not hurt me. I let her go and watched as Alexander lifted her in his arms, k*issing her cheeks gently as he did.

“I was thinking that the three of us can go to her doctor’s appointment today. I don’t think that you’ve been to any of them…”

“I would rather I stay home, Alexander. I believe that you have handled things enough with her to not really need me there” I said, wrapping my arm around myself as I grew somewhat insecure. If anything, I knew that I was. Aside from the doctors who were here at the pack the night she was born, I was never there to know what the results of anything were; therefore, there was no need to be sad or broken about it now.

“Now, now, Scarlett, we already agreed to be parents together in this one. I know that you’re still hesitant about this, but that does not mean at all that I would allow you to be as insecure. Nasia is your daughter, and YOU are the one who gave birth to her, nursed her in your stomach, and took care of her against all the odds when pregnant; therefore, I don’t want you hesitating about it now” Alexander said, making my heart swell. I smiled and nodded, growing more courageous about this. I didn’t know how people would react when they saw an omega being an Alpha born’s mother, but then again, I wasn’t here to explain anything, right? I was going for my daughter and that was all that mattered.

“I will go and get ready, just give me five minutes please”

“She is perfectly healthy, and she seems to be in better shape and in a better mood than she was in last month” the doctor told Alexander who smiled as he looked at me. I frowned in confusion, and nodding, Alexander put his hand on my knee, squeezing it gently.

“Her mother was in training for the past few months and was f*orced to be away. I believe this is why she is growing in a better mood as days pass by” he said, smiling at me. I stayed quiet for a few seconds, processing what they were saying as I studied Alexander’s expression.

“Oh? I do hope that it went well” she said, looking at me. I smiled shyly but did not respond, making her smile “but indeed, she did get a lot better in terms of behaving and tantrums. It is normal as a wolf is usually attached to their mothers as infants. They tend to keep the scent and when they find themselves being away from it, they just try to find, crying fighting, and arguing. Your daughter went through that, but she seems to be alright right now”

“I was not aware, I would have been by her side if I knew” I said, glaring at my mate who avoided my eyes. He knew that she went through this because of him and what he chose; however, was he going to admit it? No, was he going to say a word about it? Of course, not. His mother would rip his tongue out before he could to begin with. Luna Katelyn and I were yet to speak about anything since my return, but she was the last thing I cared about right now.

I could barely find myself getting back with my lost time alongside my daughter, and regardless of how painful it was, I knew better than to confront anyone about this; however, it seemed like things were proving themselves without the need for me to speak. All I needed was to be patient and I was to watch things unfold themselves on their own.

“You needn’t worry now, I believe that with you being back by her side” the doctor said, smiling at me as I looked at Alexander who was pinching the bridge of his nose, knowing that he was not going to be hearing the end of this. At least, that is what he expects “she will be better…”

I smiled and nodded, knowing that this time, I was not he weak Luna who he screwed months ago. Nor was I the weak person he sent to that place. Yes, I was still scared, but for my child, I was going to claw anyone who tried splitting us apart.

From now on, my baby’s mum was back.

And I was going to defend her if it cost my life…
