“Marrin’s personal appearance is not in question here.”

“Hmm, just Marilyn’s.”

Detective Pullman nodded.

“I hear she’s currently in the hospital, got that update myself right before coming in here. Unconscious with many injuries.”

“Yes, I was the one that called 911, after I couldn’t stop her from falling down the stairs.”

7 sent her to the Houston Methodist, and it has already been arranged that she gets the Wil told the detective. medical care,”

“She’ll see the best doctors, and have a VIP suite waiting for her to recover in, all of which I will be paying for. I do understand I am somewhat at fault here,”

Calvin admitted.

“Hmm, I’m glad to see you understand the seriousness of the situation. You’re paying for everything that just shows your guilt. Everything now will depend on whether she wakes up or not. As to what charges will be laid against you.

“Though I believe her lawyer is going to push for at this time, the stalking of his client, where you assaulted her, causing grievous bodily harm. That will be two counts now, I believe, and there will be some sort of s**** harassment to go along with that as well. When I tell him, you admitted to forcibly lifting up her shirt against her will.”

Calvin didn’t say anything at all. There was no point, though he did know Wil was once again going to try and arrange for a new sit??own so they could come to some sort of agreement and keep him out of court. He was going to have to apologise once more and really mean it this time.

He’d wronged her now, and he knew it, and had no one to blame but himself for his own issues with the woman. Who just happened to look exactly like Marrin. He’d thought he’d finally had her, only for it not to actually be her.

He was released after making his statement and told not to leave the state, let alone the country. After hearing that if Miss Riddley didn’t make it he was going to come and arrest him for attempted murder. That detective had smiled right at him, as if to say he hoped he could do so.

“I hope detective that doesn’t happen. She has two children, from my understanding. You shouldn’t want that or allude to wanting that.”

Calvin had grated out and walked away. That detective obviously had a clear dislike of him and wanted to see him charged with something official.

1 don’t like him,”

he told Wil

“He’s just doing his job, Calvin.”

Wil sighed.

“Take me to the hospital,”

Calvin stated as they got in the car.

“No, you were just warned to stay away from her by the police themselves, and you do now agree that she is Marilyn, not Marrin, right?”

Wil asked him.

“Yes,”

Calvin muttered as he stared out the window.

“Do you think they were twin sisters?”

it was all he could put it down to. 1 recall Marrin stating she knew Marilyn Riddley at your engagement party. Stated they went to college together. That was how she got Anabell’s book signed.”

“Mm, I recall it… I suppose anything is possible. We know nothing of Marrin. She was an orphan.”

Will murmured himself.

“On that note, Calvin, Anabell is going to be royally ticked off at you for this one. She was already mad yesterday and now this.”

Calvin nodded

“Understood.”

Was all he stated. The three of them often had dinner together, two, sometimes three nights a week.

“I’ll skip dinner until this is all sorted out.”

“Probably wise, or it’ll be like you’re in a courtroom with her. I also don’t want to have to make the choice of defending my wife or my best friend if she beats you one. You know she does kick boxing and crossfit.”

“I wouldn’t press charges, Wil,”

Calvin commented, and he wouldn’t.

“When will we know Whether she’s out of the woods or not?”

ut Miss Riddley?

“I imagine you could call the hospital director, seeing as you know him, and you’re paying all her bills, considered her benefactor right this minute. But do not go to the hospital and I mean that Calvin. That will only incur more charges, one of which will be either stalking or harassment. I’d also be willing to bet there is now in the works some sort of apprehended violence order being applied for, and it will be issued after the judge hears everything, he’ll put his stamp of approval on it in less than a minute, likely come with a minimum distance of like 500 feet or something.”

Lisa

It was going to be hard to tell Callum and Vincent what had happened to their mother and almost just as hard to look at the two of them now, with the knowledge she had, rattling around inside her brain about who she thought Calvin Reeves was likely to be to these two boys; to Marilyn herself.

She’d walked into Marilyn’s hotel suite and stated their names like she’d always done,

“Cal, Vin,”

and she’d had a shiver run through her entire body as they’d both turned and looked at her. Her heart had tightened inside her chest. They looked, she realized, just like that man who’d assaulted their mother twice now, who had just put her in the hospital.

Marilyn, she knew, recalled nothing of her past, but Lisa had a sinking feeling that one Mr Calvin Reeves was going to be Marilyn’s past, and the man was not at all nice from all she had seen of him. Likely to be an abusive ex-husband, it was no wonder she’d never regained any memories at all. It was likely deep down in her subconscious mind she didn’t actually want to, so her brain just opted not to, so she was completely in the dark, because a real part of her just wanted to forget everything about him.

From all Lisa had seen, she couldn’t blame the woman either. No one should have to suffer at the hands of a brute like that, regardless of how much money he had. Having wealth or fame was no excuse for beating your wife, it didn’t give them the right to hurt others. Yet she could see from just watching him, and all she’d read about him and those other women, he did think he had a right to do that. He was probably of the opinion no one could touch him..

She also didn’t think this man was going to be willing to let go either. He, in all reality, knew exactly what his wife or ex??ife looked like; all her mannerisms and what he’d seen in Marilyn, had led him to not only think, but believe she was Marrin.
