Chris looks confused when speaking up “choked to death? Why would you be in your human form when trying to get away from 5 wolves charging at you? Especially when your wolf..” Chris doesn’t get to finish his sentence when the rogue interrupts him and sends him a death glare. “That is none of your business. Now, is there any other prying anyone wishes to do, or can I go about my day?”. Chris shuts his mouth and just allows her to speak to him like that and this time, Zane can’t help himself. “Do you let all your pack members talk to you in that manner, and put up with it?”. Chris is ready to answer, but the rogue intervenes “I am not his pack member”. Alpha Culio chimes in this time. “Well, speaking of that Lola, would you please consider coming back with us?”. Her gaze turns unusually soft when directed at Alpha Culio, it seems she has a lot more respect for the man than she does for either of us or Chris. “I am sorry Alpha Culio, but I will not come back to Red Dagger with you. Please know it has nothing at all to do with you. I have my personal reasons”. Alpha Culio tightens his jaw and looks at Chris, before turning back to the rogue “Lola, does the personal reason involve my son in any way?”. It doesn’t take a genius to see that she doesn’t like Chris and that there is a weird chemistry there, so the question is not unexpected to say the least. She takes some time before answering “no it doesn’t Alpha. Red Dagger just isn’t my home, I am afraid” and gives him a sympathetic smile.
“Very well then, I guess at least I am overjoyed you are safe. I was worried sick and feared the worst for you out there all alone, untrained. It’s a miracle you are still here with us” she smiles. “A miracle indeed. Thank you for coming to see me Alpha. You are a good man and I wish you the very best” and she heads towards the door. Chris snaps out of the daze he seemed to be in and runs towards the rogue, and states “Lola please at the very least, take your phone with you, so you can reach out if you ever need anything, OK?” as he grabs a phone and charger from his pocket and hands it out to her. She seems reluctant to take the phone, but grabs it anyway. “Fine, but not because I will have contact with anyone in the pack, I miss my music” she mumbles and steps out the door, while giving one last smile to Alpha Culio. He nods and smiles back at her. As soon as she has left Alpha Culio smilingly states “that girl is something else, she’s special”.
Zane and I tell the men goodbye and alert the guards to escort them back outside, as the whole ordeal was very disappointing to say the least. We were expecting and hoping for Alpha Culio and Chris to be livid with her, wanting to punish her for leaving or at the very last take her back to Red Dagger. We were not expecting her to still be here after the meeting. And we also weren’t expecting them to be so.. affectionate? Towards her. After the door is closed, Zane sighs deeply “well, that didn’t go as expected..”. “Tell me about it, brother. I was expecting them to be livid with her, but it seemed to be the other way around? At least towards Chris. I can’t wait to check the footage from the other office” “me neither, let’s have a look shall we” Zane says in a sing-song voice before pulling out his phone and rewinding the footage from the camera.
Zane and I sit in silence as we watch the whole conversation from scratch. And although still surprised, Chris lets her talk to him like that and even goes as far as letting her threaten him, a picture is beginning to form for us now. “What… he loves her? A rogue?!”. “Well, technically, she wasn’t a rogue when he fell in love with her” I reply Zane, while having an unsettling feeling in my stomach about him being in love with her. By the looks on Zane’s face, he has the same feeling I do. It must be because we can’t imagine someone proclaiming his love to someone who is now a rogue, despite their history together. “I wonder what the last thing he tried doing to her was though, he seems highly embarrassed by it” “I am still reeling from the fact that Chris claims to be a virgin” Zane laughs. I can’t help but laugh along “yeah as if. If he is a virgin, so are we” I wink. I have seen his interactions with she wolves when we visited their pack. There is no way that guy is still a virgin. He had a different girl clinging to him every other day. Even worse than us.
“Anyway, since our plan failed miserably.. It is time for plan B” I say to Zane, before relaying the next plan to him. We tried to do this the nice way, now it’s time for us to show who’s boss.
Lola POV
Foul language incoming in 3.. 2.. 1.. Those motherf*cking slimy pieces of sh*t! I was clear about not wanting anything to do with Red Dagger anymore, and they went ahead and invited them the next morning. I know their gameplay, they want me gone. But those overgrown dogs don’t realize I want to be gone just as badly if not worse! Liberty whimpers in my mind ‘we can’t leave without meeting their wolves though?’ she more asks than tells me ‘of course not Lib! I wouldn’t just step out without having you meet them and decide what we want to do together’. It’s a loaded topic for us as the wolves cannot be separated from the humans, they are one together. So if you form a union – it will be with both the animal and human side. And I just don’t see that happening on the human side, not on my end, but also not on their end. But that’s a problem for later. Hopefully not too much later, as I still want to get my life together as I intended it as soon as possible. And at the very latest, we would have to meet their wolves before our departure.
Having left the office in a fury, I need to blow off some steam badly, but I am unsure if I am free to roam the place for a gym or would be free to go for a run. I could use a good sparring session right about now, my hands are itching to bash their empty heads together to hear the hallow melody as if they were maracas. Not only are they *ssholes, they aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed either. Sincerely how are they the King and Queen’s biological sons? Were they secretly adopted or something? As I can’t really go freely and roam everywhere I have to head back to my room. I guess the only way to relieve the tension in me is to take a long hot bath, so I will do just that. Bursting into my room the Queen is sitting on the sofa in the room, startled by my sudden appearance. “Sorry your highness, I didn’t realize you were in the room”. “Xena, dear” she smiles gently. “Sorry, Xena. I was actually looking for you earlier. Is there any news on when I will be able to continue my path?”.
