I watched as Aurora got out of the car, hesitating when she saw us stopping at a restaurant.

Her eyes studied my expression for a second, and I could tell that she was gripping on the door, fearing getting out of it.

“I won’t hurt you” I said, nodding at the restaurant that had two waiters looking at us. Her eyes were fixed on them for a while then me before she processed where we were. “You remembered my favorite place?” She asked and I smiled before extending my hand to her, not wanting her to fear me. Her eyes studied my expression for a second before she extended hers, and intertwining our fingers, I smiled and k*issed her knuckle before the two of us walked toward the door.

“I never forgot about it, I need to remember it, Scarlett” I said, making her smile. She blushed, and looking away from me, I could tell that she was trying to hide the fact that she was being genuine about her feelings.

I knew that the fear she was reflecting was due to her not knowing whether or not I would be abandoning her again; however, I wasn’t planning on doing so, and I never did. In her eyes, I left her to take her child away. I knew that for fact; otherwise, she wouldn’t have reacted the way that she did. But the fact that she was currently giving me the sight chance to just listen to what I had to say, that was enough for me to know that I was dumb enough to think of listening to mom to begin with.

“Mr. Alexander” the manager said, nodding at the two of us. He motioned for us to walk inside, and looking at Scarlett, I nodded at her to come. This place was one that I took her to when the two of us first got our own ‘allowances’ in our bank accounts. Everyone around us genuinely believed that we were a couple, and by that time, I truly did wish that we were.

I still remembered how she looked at me that night, and how bright her smile was. By that time, she was already living in her own house for a while, and I would often sneak out of the house to keep her company at night until it was time for us to go to bed, and though I knew now that my parents did know of me being out and in her house, I was thankful that they never said anything about it; and that could have been due to the fact that dad actually wanted the two of us to be a couple.

“Your orders are already being prepared, sir, do you want us to start by bringing in your coffee or would you like that after breakfast?” The manager asked. Scarlett stayed quiet for a while, studying my expression, listening to the manager as he spoke. Having called them while Scarlett was getting ready, they already knew what to prepare, and I had a feeling that my little mate was going to be enjoying this surprise. “I think now would be fine, and we would let you know if we want more coffee after breakfast” I said, looking at Scarlett who frowned in confusion. She stayed quiet, waiting for the manager to leave before shaking her head.

“We just arrived here, and now they’re preparing our orders? Last I checked, we barely sat to order?” Scarlett asked, waiting for my response just as two waiters, followed by the manager, came with our coffees. They set them in front of us. A cappuccino for Scarlett and a black coffee for me. Scarlett looked at me, her eyes widening in surprise before they left, giving us our privacy.

“I called them while you were getting ready and had them preparing everything for us. The day is going to be about you, and one way or the other, I am going to remind you of the things that you loved. I know that it was me who broke something in you, and I know that you are acting the way you are because you were trained to do so. I cannot blame you, it was my fault that you went through that; however, it does not mean that I want you breaking inside, nor does it mean that I don’t want to see your true, beautiful smile again” I said, looking my mate in the eye, listening to her heartbeat as it raced.

The manager and waiters came back, bringing our breakfast, setting her sunny side eggs and French toast in front of her. They put my scrambled eggs and grilled toast in front of me, and looking at Scarlett, her eyes were wide in both happiness and surprise.

Our eyes studied one another’s expression for a second, and watching as they walked away, she looked like a child who was just given the world.

“You did all this, for me?” She asked, and I smiled at her before extending my hand toward her. Scarlett hesitated for a second, and I knew that it was also because of her course which said ‘do not put your elbows on the table’; however, I nodded at her, giving her an encouraging smile before she did it. She looked down at her plate, and smiling, she blushed as she extended her hand, and pulling it to my l*ips, I gently k*issed her knuckle while keeping my eyes on hers.

“You are my mate, Scarlett. I would do this and a lot more to win you back” I said, taking her off guard as I let her hand go. Her eyes were wide in surprise, but she didn’t say anything to respond to what I just said, and smiling, I squeezed her hand in assurance “I don’t know what comes in your mind when it concerns me, and I don’t know how you feel toward me right now, but I am not stupid as not to know that you are upset with me. My heart hurts for the fear that I made you live through, but I want you to know that I never meant to hurt you.

Maybe you don’t understand what I am talking about today, and I don’t blame you, but one day you will, Neonata, and I give you my word, it won’t be too far before you’ve understood, okay?”
