“What would you like to eat?”

“Guess. If you guess correctly, I’ll eat it all…If not, you will need to keep cooking until you get it right,” the old man smirked as he rested in his bamboo chair.

Emma looked at the old man and submissively nodded her head, “Please wait a moment…”

Elder Roberts watched as Emma disappeared into the kitchen and scoffed under his breath, “Yesterday, you were playing with my grandson. Today, I will teach you a lesson.” When it came to eating, Elder Roberts was the pickiest in the family. Even when it came to expensive delicacies, they had to check if the old man liked it first. If Emma could understand his tastes, her thoughtfulness would probably calm him down for a few days.

Emma came to act, but she was now forced to wash clothes and cook for this old man. However, she did not feel upset at all…in fact, she found it quite enjoyable.

After half an hour, 3 delicate dishes were placed on the dining table. As soon as the old man saw that they were bland vegetables and tofu, he was displeased, “Do you think I’m a goat?”

“Give it a try first,” Emma said as she handed him a bowl and chopsticks.

The old man received the chopsticks and unwillingly picked up some of the vegetables. As he placed it in his mouth, the fragrant flavours immediately made his senses feel like they had been awoken.

Eric, the little rascal, was sure lucky to find a wife that could cook so well. Emma was unlike the other cheap women out there.

But, he couldn’t go easy on Emma. So, he put aside his chopsticks, “I don’t want to eat such bland food…”

“Then I’ll cook again,” Emma turned around without a second thought.

However, as soon as she turned around, the old man immediately emptied half the plates in front of him. He then held a cat in his lap and pretended that he had fed the food to the cat.

After torturing Emma for half the morning, the old man finally took a break and headed on set to watch Quenton and Harlow film their scenes. During the entire time on set, the old man continuously told the people around him how he would have handled the scene if he was still young. Everyone was fascinated by his analysis, including Emma.

However, seeing her go from female lead to someone’s assistant, the people on set felt slightly unfair for her. Who was this old man and what was his deal? Why did the king of entertainment’s wife have to show him respect? It appeared, he wasn’t simply an old man with good acting.

But, no one had heard of this old man before.

Elder Black; even when they searched back 30 years of records, they couldn’t find any information on him. What right did he have to torture Emma like this?

Seeing the scene in front of him, the idea of replacing Emma with Harlow once again arose in Quenton’s mind…

Since Elder Black disliked Emma so much, could he possibly make use of him?

So, he ended up contacting Amias in private, “Amias, if Emma goes to be an assistant, what will happen to her scenes?”

“She will film them at night…”

“But…that will delay my sleep. I could tolerate 1 or 2 days, but if it’s for a long period of time, I refuse to accept it,” Quenton complained.

“What are you trying to say?” Amias’s eyes squinted questioningly. Was Quenton still thinking of doing something to Emma?

“I’m just hoping that you make a reasonable decision…”

Originally, it had been agreed that Emma could go home at night. But, with the old man deliberately trying to make things difficult, she could only instruct Flossie to tell Eric what was happening on set. Eric never interfered with her decisions, but, he knew exactly who this old man was!

The old man would have to wait and see: the amount of suffering his wife was experiencing now, Eric was going to let him have a taste of it later on. However, at present, it was more important to let Elder Roberts learn about Emma.

So, he could only tell Flossie to write down all that Emma had suffered; every little incident down to the finest detail.

That night, Emma was to have a scene with Quenton. Perhaps it was because of the old man’s nagging, Quenton noticed that Emma’s acting had changed.

As she changed careers from a model, Emma had talent but a lack of experience. Most of the time, she tried to amplify her strengths and avoid her weaknesses. But now, had she learned some technical skills?

The scene they were filming was of them passing by on the streets. Quenton’s character was aware that Emma was looking for him, but, after finding out that Emma’s character was a police officer, he had no choice but to leave her.

Seeing the panic in Emma’s eyes, Quenton fell into a daze for a moment. Amias noticed this, “Cut! What’s wrong Quenton?”

“I’m fine director, let’s go again,” Quenton drew back his focus, but felt like he was caught in a predicament. He was once again unsure if he should get Emma replaced.

Elder Roberts also came to watch Emma on set. In the end he gave a scoff, “At least she has potential.”

On the surface, the old man seemed to be making things difficult for Emma, but in reality, he couldn’t deny that she was his granddaughter-in-law. He was allowed to bully her, but it didn’t mean other’s could. He was a typical Roborts Family member.

The next day, Emma looked a little pale. Seeing this, the old man decided to have a nap.

Emma took this opportunity to also lie on the table for a little while before stumbling out to the set with the old man to watch others film.

“Everyone has their own strengths when it comes to acting. Even if one is playing a small character, they should not disregard their existence. Sometimes, even a small character could make or break an entire film,” the old man explained to the people around him.

In reality, he was actually saying this to Emma.

As a result, Emma carefully watched each person act and took note of everything worthy of learning from.

Whilst filming, Quenton lifted his head to look at Emma and the old man. After contemplating a little, he decided to give his plan another go.

So, his assistant made contact with the old man and the old man agreed to meet with him that night. As Emma had filming to do at night, the old man naturally did not bring her along.

Inside the private room of a hotel restaurant, Elder Roberts waved the fan in his hand as he asked Quenton, “Be straightforward, what do you want to talk to me about?”

“To be honest Elder Black, I would like to make Harlow the female lead of this film. Since you also dislike Emma, can you get her replaced? We can negotiate a price,” Quenton asked the old man bravely. He assumed the old man’s disgust towards Emma was a given.

The old man took one look at Quenton and laughed as he closed up his fan, “Do you think that I dislike Emma?”

“I at least believe that you like Harlow more…”

“Who told you that?” Elder Roberts’s protective instincts jumped into action, “I previously mentioned that Harlow was consistent with her acting, but, I have not yet pointed out her faults.”

“I thought you already learned your lesson from the car scene.”
