Her face was wet and clammy, unbearably uncomfortable.

She instinctively tried to raise a hand to wipe it off-only then realizing her wrists were bound tightly behind her back.

Forcing open her heavy eyelids, she saw that not only her hands but also her legs were lashed together with thick rope.

Her vision slowly cleared, and she realized she was standing at the edge of a cliff by the sea.

She turned away from the crashing waves, only to be met with Elsa’s venomous, twisted face.

“Elsa, it really is you!”

“Lily, seeing you look like a pathetic stray dog makes me so happy.”

Elsa’s voice dripped with malice. “And this is only the beginning. Things are about to get much worse for you!”

“Lily, I truly despise you.”

Her words burned with hatred. The look in her eyes churned with poison, deadlier than the most venomous snake.

“You always try to take what’s mine. You’re disgusting! If you hadn’t shamelessly clung to John, he and I would have been married long ago. It’s all your fault. You’re the filthy, despicable one who seduced him and made him turn so cold toward me.”

Elsa hated Lily with everything in her.

When she first returned to the country, she thought she had it all in her hands. John and Simon did whatever she wanted.

But somehow, Lily had bewitched them both. Not only John, but even Simon had fallen completely under her spell.

Just the other day, she’d gone to John’s villa. Even though she hadn’t been feeling well, he had her thrown out onto the street without hesitation.

That was when she knew she had lost him for good.

Now, all she had left was Simon-and she could not, would not, let Lily steal him away too.

Elsa’s bloodshot eyes glowed with madness.

Lily knew Elsa’s hatred ran too deep. Quarreling or reasoning with her would be useless.

She didn’t waste words on her. Instead, she turned to the four tattooed men standing nearby. “How much did Elsa pay you? I can give you double… no, ten times that amount. If you let me go, I won’t press charges. I can give you a hundred million, even more.”

“Ha!”

Elsa threw her head back, laughing wildly.

“Lily, trying to buy them off? What a pity. My father once helped them, and they’re loyal to him. They don’t care about money. All they want… is life!” your

The four men didn’t budge. Not even a flicker of greed crossed their faces at Lily’s staggering offer.

Her heart sank deeper and deeper.

If they wanted money, she still had a chance to live.

But if they only wanted her dead, then today was the end.

If it were only her, she wouldn’t fear death, no matter how brutal.

But she wasn’t alone. She carried two little lives inside her.

And today was James’s birthday. He was waiting for her to surprise him.

She didn’t want his birthday to turn into the day he lost both her and their children.

“Lily, do you know what this is?”

Lost in her thoughts, she startled when Elsa suddenly thrust something toward her. Dangling in front of her eyes was the pendant she wore around her neck.

Elsa stroked the inside of the pendant where a letter was engraved, her grin widening.

“Do you remember the earthquake sixteen years ago?”

Without waiting for an answer, she went on with a sinister smile. “Back then, Simon and I were trapped under the rubble together. For more than two days, if I hadn’t comforted and encouraged him, he never would have lasted until rescue came. Those two days were the most unforgettable of our lives. I held his hand over and over, told him help would come. I sang him so many songs… And this pendant-this was the token Simon gave me when we parted. He promised he’d love me forever, only me!”

Lily’s mind exploded with a deafening roar.

Sixteen years ago, she too had been trapped under rubble with a boy for more than two days until help finally arrived,

She had told him stories, sung songs to him. How could it be possible that Elsa had gone through the same thing with another boy at that exact time?

The pendant…

Elsa was close enough now that Lily could clearly see the letter “L” engraved inside.

Her eyes locked on that tiny letter, lightning seemed to strike through her brain.

No wonder it looked so familiar. This was the very pendant the boy had given her sixteen years ago!

She remembered thinking the letter inside made it feel destined for her.

Her nickname was Lizzy.

The pendant bore the letter “L”.

Yes-Simon always called Elsa “Lizzy.”

All this time, Lily had assumed Elsa’s nickname happened to be Lizzy as well.

But the truth was unthinkable-Elsa had stolen her pendant, stolen her name, and stolen her place in Simon’s heart.

For sixteen years, Simon had believed Elsa was the girl who had shared life and death with him beneath the ruins.

“Lily-thanks to you, John abandoned me.”

As Lily momentarily drifted, Elsa’s venomous voice stabbed her ears again.

“Now I only have Simon left. No one can take my Simon from me. I have to make Simon choose between you and me. Lily, tell me-if only one of us could live, who do you think Simon would pick?”

Before Lily could answer, Elsa sneered coldly, “Simon would only choose me. He can only choose me!”

“Lily, time and again you hurt me, time and again you snatch what’s mine-you have no shame! But evil meets its due. You shamelessly stole John and Simon from me; it’s only right you die today along with your litter. Yes-today I’ll make you know that in Simon’s heart, I’m the only one who matters. I’ll let you taste the despair of being abandoned!”

Lily felt that Elsa was the truly disgusting one.

More than four years ago, Elsa had been the one who abandoned John-she feared being tied down by him after his accident and disability, and without hesitation cut him off and went abroad.

When Lily had been with John, he and Elsa had already broken up.

She hadn’t deliberately tried to take anything from Elsa; it was Elsa who came home and demanded John give her a wedding even though he already had a girlfriend.

That pendant was something Simon had given her.

Elsa stole her pendant-what right did she have to accuse Lily of stealing?

Still, Lily knew her situation.

Elsa had gone mad. If Lily argued or voiced resentment, Elsa would only hurt her and the babies more viciously. She couldn’t let a moment’s pride cost the children their lives.

So she forced herself to speak with as calm a tone as possible. “Elsa, I long ago gave up John.”

“I also hate Simon from the bottom of my heart. Even if he was my life-and-death boy, I wouldn’t acknowledge him. Whether John or Simon, they’re yours. From now on, we don’t cross each other’s paths. Please let me go.”

“You gave up John…”

Chorter 609 Simon te Mine

Elsa burst into hysterical laughter, tears running down her face as she laughed. She laughed for nearly three minutes before she finally stopped, her face contorted. “If you truly didn’t want. John, why would you keep seducing him until he turned away from me completely? If you truly didn’t want John, would he be obsessed with you? You ruined me-John abandoned me because of you-and I’ll make you feel the despair of being discarded like trash by someone who mattered to you!”

Lily said nothing.

The person Elsa meant by “someone who mattered” was clearly Simon.

Who cares about that weirdo Simon?

I really was unlucky to have loved John.
