“Stop going down-“
She went lower still.
Watching the vein on his forehead throb, seeing the signs of his mounting suffering, she savored the triumph: tonight, she had turned the tables.
The last shred of reason in James’s mind warned him not to move, not to scare her.
But when her hand kept moving down, that fragile thread of sanity snapped completely.
At the same time, the ribbon tied around his wrists tore apart in an instant.
He could no longer endure the torment of her teasing. Suddenly, he pressed her head down and, like a ravenous wolf, seized her lips with desperate hunger.
Lily immediately sensed something was wrong.
Hadn’t she tied his hands? How could he press her head down?
Through her hazy awareness, she turned her head toward the bed and realized that the ribbon that had been wrapped around his wrists was now lying on the sheets.
It must have been because her bow wasn’t tied securely. The ribbon had slipped off his wrists.
Next time she punished him, she would make sure to tie it into a dead knot. That way, his hands would be bound, and he would have no choice but to let her do whatever she pleased!
At first, Lily’s mind still wandered to how she could improve the details for the next time she disciplined him.
For example, how many times should the ribbon be wrapped around his wrists? Should she also tie up his legs with ribbon…?
But as his kisses grew fiercer, she was quickly dragged into the overwhelming sweetness of the deep sea, drowning in it…
When she woke up the next morning, her right hand aching and weak, Lily wanted nothing to do with him.
Last night, she had planned to put him in his place with arrogance. Who would have thought she would end up at such a loss?
He had even pitifully begged her, saying he was suffering, and shamefully, she had…
She refused to recall those crazy, burning moments from the night before.
After washing up, she gave him a proud little snort, ignored him completely, and went downstairs first.
“Lily, come here!”
Seeing Lily descend, Nancy quickly waved her over to sit beside her. “This is the guest list for your wedding with James. Take a look and see if there’s anyone else you’d like to add.”
There wasn’t really anyone else.
Lily didn’t have many friends. She had only invited a few of her old college roommates and Adeline.
Of course, after graduation, everyone had gone their separate ways, and her roommates might not even have the time to come to Capital City for her wedding with James.
Still, she obediently sat beside Nancy and looked over the list with her.
“The jewelry sets I ordered will be delivered soon. I’ll also have some more dresses sent over. You can try them all and see what looks best.”
Nancy held Lily’s hand, speaking with emotion. “When you were a child, I liked you so much I even wanted to adopt you. I never imagined you would truly become my daughter.”
Thinking of her wayward son, with the wedding set for next month, Grace grew sentimental as well. “Thankfully Lily is willing to marry that stubborn boy. Otherwise he would’ve been a bachelor for life.”
Nancy nodded in agreement. “With James’s terrible temper, what girl besides Lily would marry him? For him to marry her is a blessing for our family. By the way, Lily, where do you and James plan to go for your honeymoon? You two…”
Before she could finish, her body suddenly convulsed in pain. Blood trickled from the corner of her lips, and she collapsed motionless onto the sofa.
“Nancy!”
“Mom!”
Blanc, who had just come downstairs, saw the blood at Nancy’s lips and her unconscious body. His heart shattered with anguish.
He didn’t care that there were still several steps left. He leapt down, scooping Nancy tightly into his arms.
“Nancy, wake up! Don’t scare me, wake up…”
Usually cold and composed, Blanc now panicked beyond measure, calling her name again and again.
Seeing Nancy’s pale, lifeless face, Grace wept bitterly. “Nancy, what’s wrong with you? Please, wake up…”
Even Henry’s expression turned grim.
He and Grace had known the Bale family since childhood. They had watched Nancy grow up, and in their hearts, she was dearer than their own daughter.
She had always been so healthy. How could she suddenly collapse like this? How could they not be terrified?
Lily too was overwhelmed with fear and pain.
Especially remembering how Renee had given her abortion medicine just yesterday, her unease spread like wildfire.
When Blanc rushed out of the living room carrying Nancy, Lily quickly followed.
“Dad, has Mom eaten anything unusual recently?”
James came downstairs just in time to see the scene, his face dark and grim.
He suspected Nancy had been poisoned like Ivan yesterday.
Everyone else at home was fine, yet only Nancy had fallen. The most likely reason was that she had eaten something Susan and her daughter had given her.
Blanc thought the same. He suspected the health supplements Susan had sent through Renee.
“Nancy had been taking that supplement for a while,” Blanc said quickly. “After we saw Susan’s true nature, Nancy stopped. But she had already taken some of the ones Renee brought over a few days ago.”
Worried sick about Nancy’s condition, Blanc didn’t waste time speaking with his eldest son. He rushed straight to the car, carrying her in his arms.
Her eyes remained closed, her body lifeless, and his still-handsome face was filled with pain and unyielding resolve.
Over and over, he whispered silently in his heart, Nancy, you can’t leave me. If something truly happens to you… after I take revenge for you, I’ll follow you. No matter what happens, life or death, I’ll never let you be alone.
Nancy wasn’t in the emergency room for long.
After about two hours, the doctors pushed her out.
She was showing symptoms of gastric bleeding.
An ordinary doctor might have treated her as such.
But Blanc had summoned not only the top specialists but also two of the greatest medical authorities.
After carefully examining her, the doctors unanimously concluded that she had been poisoned.
At the same time, the test results from the bottles of supplements came back.
They contained a toxin called DT.
In small doses, it caused fatigue, drowsiness, and weakness. In larger amounts, it severely damaged the organs, causing them to rot away.
Victims of this poison would endure excruciating pain, forced to wait helplessly for death.
The DT levels in those bottles were enough to kill.
“How’s it going, Soren?”
Susan had asked him to act against Lily, Nancy, and Grace today,
She had planned to call him in the morning, but her eagerness to hear about their suffering was too great. By evening, she couldn’t wait anymore and dialed his number.
Soren’s voice was calm and cruel. “Miss Su, I’ve used all the medicine you gave me.”
“Really?”
This time, Susan had supplied him with a stronger poison than the one she mixed into the supplements.
Anyone who consumed it would bleed from all seven orifices and die in agony within half an hour.
At first, she had only intended for Soren to use it on Lily and Grace.
