I looked down at my lap, avoiding Alexander’s eyes as my heart raced.

My hands shook, and I was sure not to say a word as I feared his anger. His own heartbeat was quick as he gripped the steering wheel.

“Scarlett…” I jumped at the mention of my name, and frowning, Alexander’s eyes softened before he extended his hand toward me. I didn’t move as I kept my eyes down, and knowing that I shouldn’t be speaking unless spoken to, I stayed quiet, waiting for what he had to say. He took my hand in his, slowly intertwining our fingers, and I stayed completely still, knowing not to react.

“Anastasia has missed you a lot” he said, trying to lighten the mood for me. I didn’t look at him, I couldn’t if I wanted to, I wasn’t allowed to. My heart ached at the mention of my daughter’s name. By now, she must have forgotten about who I was, and she must have started sitting down, and even crawling; however, I missed all these moments.

I chewed the inside of my mouth, a new habit that grew in me as days went by, and removing his hand from mine, Alexander went back to driving.

His eyes were fixed on the road ahead of him, and I couldn’t help but feel thankful for that, not wanting to be the center of his attention, and not wanting him to speak to me.

I had nothing to tell him if I wanted to. The man sent me to a place to shape me as HE wanted me to be, and here I was, the result of what he wanted.

The car stopped in front of the pack’s gates, and opening the door, the men let us inside. I kept my head low as Luna Katelyn and Alpha Mathew stood in front of us as the car stopped, not wanting to get out of it before being allowed to.

My heart throbbed, and catching the scent of my daughter, I couldn’t help the tears that formed in my eyes; however, I didn’t dare raise my face to look at her, nor did I move until I saw Alexander getting out of the car and opening the door for me.

Luna Katelyn, who was holding my daughter, stayed completely still, and taking a step toward me, Alpha Mathew went to wrap his arms around me, wanting to hug me;

however, I flinched and took a step back. The man was no father to me, and nor was I his daughter, I was never treated as so, and judging by everything that I have been through, I could tell that they made sure that I knew it.

“Do you want to hold your daughter?” Alexander asked, taking our daughter from his mother. Luna Katelyn tried resisting giving her to him, but she knew to stop when he let out a low growl at her.

He brought her closer to me, and my heart broke when she refused to want to come to me, and instead, she clutched on her father’s n*eck, silently letting me know that she did not want me holding her. And as much as it hurt me, I took a step back and lowered my head to the ground.

In this house, I was nothing more than a slave to their orders. A person who was lucky to go from being an omega’s blood to an Alpha’s mate. However, that was all I will ever be, a breeder, someone to get them kids, and a mate who had no title. Therefore, chewing the inside of my mouth, I reminded myself of the lessons that Nikita gave me.

Back straight.

Do not make eye contact.

Do not speak unless spoken to. Remember your limits.

And remember that you are the lowest of all their rankings; therefore, Luna, mate, or mother, you are nothing but an orphan omega, and that is all I will ever be.

Therefore, making sure to keep my head down, I kept her words in mind. If I wanted to live and not get killed by them, I was going to go by these rules. And if I wanted to live under the same roof as the Alpha, at least to watch my daughter grow from a distance, raising her, if they allowed me to, to be fit as a future Alpha, I was to follow the lessons that I was given.

I had no other choice…

“Do you want to eat something?” Alexander asked and I shook my head, not wanting to gain more weight than I should. A proper Luna should know to maintain her healthy diet, weight, and manage her food. And judging by the fact that it was almost dark, I knew that I shouldn’t be eating.

“Scarlett…”

“I am not supposed to eat something after a certain hour. It was what they told me” I said, avoiding his eyes. Alexander cupped my cheeks, and tearing up, I shook my head, not wanting him to hurt me “please, it is what they taught me”

“Scarlett, I am so sorry” Alexander said, wrapping his arms around me. He pulled me in for a hug, one that I couldn’t give him back. My wolf, who has been ignoring me for months growled, wanting me to push him away despite knowing to submit to her Alpha. He purred in response, knowing the anger that she was feeling.

“You are an Alpha…”

“Scar…”

“I am an omega” I said, not bothering to stop “I am here to breed for you as you mate…”

“Please don’t say that” he begged, shaking his head.

“However, I will never be your Luna” I said, completing my sentence as my heart throbbed at the facts that became clear to me. They had them drilled in my head to the point where I knew to never forget them. They were rules that they f*orced me to know, and f*orced me to both repeat and memorize; therefore, looking down at my lap, I knew not to try and go against anything that I shouldn’t.

“I am so sorry, Neonata” he whispered again, k*issing my forehead “I am so f*ucking sorry…”
