Filed To Story: Falling for the Alpha As a Student Novel
“To twins,”
the goddess confirmed. “Both boys. You will later have a little girl.”
My heart swelled at the news.
Twin boys and a little girl.
My family; my life.
“I have to get back to her,”
I said firmly. “Tell me how to return to my mate.”
The Goddess smiled.
“Just trust that your mate will restore you,”
she said, stepping away. “Rest assured, that everything is going as it should.”
Her image was beginning to fade, and I knew she was leaving.
“Wait, don’t leave yet,”
I called after her. “What if I need more guidance?”
“Look inside yourself, Enzo. You have all the answers you could ever possibly need. Use them to your advantage.”
As she spoke those words, her voice grew much softer as her image faded.
“Wait… will our children be strong and healthy?”
I found myself asking, still in disbelief over this news.
She smiled, that twinkle returning to her eyes.
“Just like their parents,”
she said as her body faded and she was gone.
I closed my eyes, sitting in the meadow of flowers as Max rested his head over my lap. I draped my fingers through his thick fur, and I laid my head on the ground, allowing the warmth of the sun to blanket over us.
I focused my attention on how much I truly loved Lila. I thought about how I wanted to be with her and how I would do anything to see her again. I allowed the light of the sun to fill me with strength and energy. I soaked under the warmth as the thought of Lila filled my head and my heart.
“I trust you…”
I found myself whispering.
When I opened my eyes, I was no longer in the meadow. I was lying on the ground with a loud battle going on around me. I peered up and saw Lila staring wide and misty-eyed at me.
I heard loud howling in the distance, bringing my head back to the moment.
I sat up, confused as to what was happening. But before I could fully grasp it, she flung herself into my arms, crashing into me and sobbing in my completely healed chest.
“I thought I lost you…”
she whispered as I held her tightly.
“You’ll never lose me…”
I said in return, basking in her incredible scent. “Neither will our pups…”
She peered up at me with alarmed and tear-filled eyes.
Before she could say anything, or ask how I knew, we were interrupted by the stampede of wolves that charged toward the battle.
It looked as if some of the rogues were taking off running in a different direction. Jazzy, now powerless, was also running, knowing that this was a battle she couldn’t win.
Hazel went after her.
The stampede of wolves, I realized almost immediately from their glowing purple and blue eyes and the lighting that shot from their claws as they ran, were Volana wolves.
My heart was pounding as I saw the Volana in the lead.
Tears filled my eyes as I stood to my feet, taking Lila with me.
“It’s my mother.”
Lila’s POV
My adrenaline was exploding!
Enzo was alive and standing in front of me, facing the dozens of Volanas that were flooding toward us. His mother, Diana, was in the lead and she was huge!
She was one of the most glorious beasts I had ever seen.
A spark of electricity rushed out of her paws and her eyes were glowing an assortment of colors. I could feel the strength of her true Volana powers. Her entire village and then some were following closely after her, each of them a different color and glorious.
Their eyes shone with multiple colors and radiated with power.
My mother lifted her head in response and howled loudly for all to hear. Following closely after my mother’s howl, the rest of them howled in response.
Tears welled in my eyes at the sight of the amazing Volana wolves finally united with their powers and coming together.
This was it.
The rise of the Volanas.
I was overwhelmed with emotions.
Enzo glanced down at me with a glowing smile on his face and I couldn’t help but return it.
It seemed all the rogues and the remaining witches around us were staring at the Volanas as well, but they didn’t look as happy. In fact, they looked terrified. I’m sure they weren’t expecting this type of outcome.
My mother ran to catch up with the pack of Volanas. Enzo looked around for a moment as if he was intently thinking about something. Then, he looked back at me, and his smile widened as he nodded with his head toward the Volanas.
My heart swelled.
He wanted me to join them.
I threw my arms around him and held him close to me, taking in his incredible scent and basking in his warmth. It felt like it’s been so long since I was able to hold him in my arms and be close to him.
He was alive.
He buried his face in the nape of my neck, taking in my scent as well and I felt his entire body relaxing against mine. I didn’t want to let him go; not ever. I came close to losing him and the thought of parting from him terrified me.
But I knew we had to finish this battle, or we would never truly be free.
He reluctantly released me, leaving me feeling cold and vulnerable. I took a deep breath to steady my rapidly beating heart before he gave me an encouraging nod.
I turned in the direction of the flood of Volanas and I ran in their direction. As I jumped in the air, Val took over and we shifted into our wolf form in mid-air. We ran with so much speed, that everything around me was a blur.
By the time I caught up with the others, they were near the center of the forest where the rogues were shivering in their skin.
My heart swelled, knowing that after today, everything was about to change for the better. We weren’t hiding anymore; now all the Volanas in our area were out in the open and more powerful than ever!
Seeing that all the rogues were frozen in place and terrified, I knew we weren’t going to have to fight them. If I could avoid hurting anyone else, that would be the goal.
They were powerless against us; most of the witches were already gone and there was no sign of Jazzy. These rogues weren’t a match for our true powers.
“Mom,”
I said through the mindlink; she glanced at me. “We don’t have to fight them. I doubt they will attempt to fight us back.”
“What do you suggest we do?”
My mother asked. “I will let Diana know and she will alert the others.”
“We spread a message,”
I said firmly. “Use your mind manipulation to get them to leave and spread the word that Volana’s are not to be messed with.”
“Do you think that’ll be enough?”
I thought about it for a moment as I glanced around the battleground. There were a lot of injured wolves, and it made my heart hurt knowing they were hurt protecting us.
“It’ll be a start,”
I finally answered.
