Dominic’s body went stiff as his heart sank completely. He knew that crossing Kingsley meant ruin deep down, but now he was sure of it. This was not just a fall from grace; it was a freefall straight into hell, and there was no coming back.
Camilla shrieked, clinging to Dominic’s arm. “How are we supposed to survive in some small county town? They don’t even have shopping malls, no luxury boutiques, not even a damn proper restaurant! What about my friends? My lifestyle? What the hell am I supposed to do?”
Dominic tried to comfort her. “It’s okay. These smaller towns have developed a lot recently. The Goth family owns several properties down there. Once we settle in, we’ll still live comfortably.
“As for luxury stores and proper restaurant chains-come on, let’s be real. Do you think we’ll ever be buying designer bags again?”
Camilla shouted, “I don’t care! I’m pregnant, and I can’t live without the things I love. You expect me to raise a child in the middle of nowhere? What kind of life is that?”
Dominic sighed bitterly. “We’ll do what every parent does-we’ll work hard to build a better future for him. And don’t forget, he’ll have Nyla for an older sister. With her in charge now, she won’t leave him behind.”
Camilla crumpled into sobs. “We never should’ve treated Nyla that way… I should’ve known-she had Kingsley backing her this whole time. Pushing her down, controlling her… of course, it would backfire eventually. I just couldn’t help it. I always saw her as a threat to me and my baby.”
Dominic let out a deep breath. “You weren’t the only one. I misjudged the whole situation. Kingsley isn’t just powerful… he practically controls Jayrodale now. I was blinded by pride. I thought I could still hold my own-but clearly, I had no idea what I was dealing with.”
The two sat quietly in the back of a rickety old van, bumping along the highway, leaving Jayrodale behind.
Halfway into the trip, Dominic’s phone rang-it was Quinton.
“Mr. Goth, I heard there’s been some trouble in your family. What’s going on?”
Quinton was still out of the loop-being from Blumedale, he always got Jayrodale news a beat too late.
Dominic clenched the phone and answered with bitterness. “Sorry, Quinton. I won’t be able to help you anymore. From now on, there’s nothing between us.”
Quinton’s voice instantly turned sharp. “What are you saying? That’s not how business works. Even if we didn’t close a deal, we should part on good terms. What about the billion-dollar investment the Wrights promised? Don’t you want that?” C?ntent belongs to
Before Dominie could reply, Camilla snatched the phone and exploded. “Quinton, you walking disaster!
Shove your damn investment unet your ass! Do you even realize it was because of you that Dominicost everything?
“He’s no longer head of the family, thanks to your mess! Get lost! Dominic doesn’t want anything to do with you anymore!”
And with that, she hurled the phone against the van wall, smashing it to pieces. Her whole body was trembling with fury.
Dominic stared at the shattered phone and groaned. “You’re angry, fine but did you have to destroy the phone? We were kicked out so fast, we barely packed. That phone was my most valuable possession right now!”
Camilla screamed, “I don’t care! I needed to break something! You’re a pathetic excuse for a man! If my life sucks from here on out, I’ll divorce you without hesitation. I’ll remarry and find someone richer than you! Sticking with a washed-up loser is not how I plan to live.”
Dominic’s face darkened. “You’re blaming me? I should be blaming you. Do you think I didn’t know how cruel you were to Nyla while I was gone? You treated her like trash!”
Camilla shrieked, “Are we really doing this now? You want to argue about right and wrong while we’re being driven out of our home? If you keep pushing, I swear I’ll get an abortion and leave you in the dirt!”
Meanwhile, Quinton lowered his phone, his face clouded with rage.
Shawn sneered. “I told you Dominic was unreliable. You should’ve known he’d let you down.”
Quinton scoffed. “Anyone can throw shade after the fact. If he was worthless, then what exactly could you have done better?”
Shawn looked like he had swallowed poison. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
“Damn it,” Quinton growled. “Dominic didn’t just screw up-he lost his position as family head. Find out exactly what happened. I want details, and I want them now!”
He had invested serious hopes in Dominic, and to watch it all collapse this fast felt like a drop from heaven straight into hell.
Hannah spoke up, her voice cool and calm. “No need to investigate. I already know what happened.”
Quinton turned toward her. “Ms. Snees, go ahead. I’m listening.”
Hannah said plainly, “Everything started with Kingsley. He pulled strings and leveraged his connections to rally over half of Jayrodale’s powerhouses. Together, they completely blacklisted the Goth family.”
Quinton’s eyes widened. “Over half of Jayrodale? Where the hell did this Kingsley get that kind of pull?”
Even as someone from Blumedale, Quinton knew how polite people in Jayrodale pretended to be around him. However, when it came time to get real support, very few actually stepped up for him.
Yet, Kingsley managed to mobilize half the city’s elite. That level of influence practically made him the king of Jayrodale.
Hannah shook her head. “I’m not exactly sure how he pulled it off. Honestly, our family isn’t even qualified to enter that circle anymore.
“But getting the info wasn’t hard. The Rhodes, the Aickers, the underground cartels, and even Madblade Martial Academy all gave Kingsley full support. With big names like that leading the charge, every other family and business followed suit.
“Even those with no prior relationship with Kingsley saw this as their chance to win favor with him In short, Kingsley didn’t just isolate the Goths-he weaponized nearly all of Jayrodale’s public-facing power structure to do it.
“Dominic and Camilla were stripped of everything and exiled to some small county town, while their daughter Nyla took over as the new head of the family.”
Quinton scowled and let out a mocking laugh. “That’s insane. You’re telling me they handed the family over to a naive little girl with zero experience? Do you really think the elders of the Goth familycare going to sit back and let that happen?”
Hannah gave a complicated look. “Whether they approve or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that Nyla is now considered Kingsley’s person. Which means….. the Goth family effectively belongs to him now.”
Quinton’s voice turned cold. “So you’re saying that instead of getting my hands on the miracle formula, I practically handed Kingsley the keys to the Goth family on a silver platter?”
Hannah nodded. “In a way… yes.”
Quinton clenched his jaw. “If Dominic is out, then do either of you have a backup plan? That Vitality Pill and the Titan Essence Pill-everyone’s after them. If I don’t move fast, someone else will.”
Shawn growled, “Quinton, I still don’t think we need to keep dancing around Kingsley. With your status-and the Wrights behind you there’s a cleaner way.
“If push comes to shove, why not just bring in the Wrights’ private guard along with a couple of top-tier enforcers and force him to hand it over? It’s quick and easy problem solved.”
Quinton did not speak, his brow furrowed tightly. Meanwhile, Hannah’s side suddenly let out a mocking laugh.
Shawn’s face flushed red with anger as he snapped, “Hannah, what’s so funny? Do you think my suggestion is a joke?”
Hannah gave him a cold glance, her voice dripping with disdain. “That wasn’t a suggestion-it was idiocy. A suicide mission.”
Shawn clenched his fists, his temper flaring. “Hannah, don’t think just because Quinton favors you now, you can talk down to me.”
He leaned in, his voice low and threatening. “Mark my words, one day, you’ll be mine.”
Hannah’s lips curled into a sneer, her eyes filled with contempt. “Shawn, did you forget how you slunk out of Jayrodale like a beaten dog after Kingsley humiliated you?”
She tilted her head, her gaze icy. “Look at you now. What do you think you are in my eyes?”
Shawn exploded with rage. Hannah had not spelled it out, but her look said everything to her, he was nothing more than a pathetic mutt.
Quinton cut in, his tone calm but firm. “Enough, Shawn. Sit down and listen instead of interrupting.”
Shawn’s face darkened, but he did not dare argue. It was clear Quinton valued Hannah’s input far more than his.
Turning to Hannah, Quinton asked, “Alright, Hannah, explain to me why would going after Kingsley be a suicide move?”
Hannah took a deep breath, her expression serious. “Quinton, I’ll be blunt because I respect you. Right now, you’re the Snees family’s best hope, and I won’t watch you crash and burn in Jayrodale.”
Quinton nodded. “You’re a sharp and capable woman. I’m listening.”
Hannah did not hold back. “First, you need to understand-Kingsley isn’t just powerful here. He owns Jayrodale.”
She let that sink in before continuing. “If he wanted, he could crush anyone who crosses him without breaking a sweat.”
Quinton scoffed. “I get that he’s a big player, but calling him untouchable seems like a stretch.”
Hannah shook her head. “It’s not. If anything, I’m underselling it.”

She ticked off the facts on her fingers. “Kingsley controls the underground completely.
Aboveground, even heavyweight et like the Rhodes family back him. Then, there’s the Aickers, the Goths, and the Madblade Martial Academy-all in his corner.”
She met Quinton’s gaze squarely. “In Jayrodale, whether it’s the streets, high society, business, or politics, Kingsley has it locked down.
“Glorious Pharmaceuticals is one of the most dominant companies in the city. And now, there’s Moonlit Apothecary-an up-and-coming powerhouse that’s directly under Kingsley’s control.
“With Mr. Mark Thatcher, our mayor, backing him up, Kingsley has a golden path laid out in every direction.”
The more Quinton listened, the more uneasy he felt. After all, if he had tried to build an empire in Jayroda?e himself, he doubted he could have pulled off even half of that-even with the full support of the Wrights behind him.
Hannah added, “You might not know this, but Donald Warren-the chief of Jayrodale Police
Commissioner-is one of Kingsley’s buddies. To be blunt, the guy, basically treats him like a boss. But the real kicker is Marvin Yates-the wealthiest man in the city.”
Quinton blinked in disbelief. “Wait, even Marvin? You’re not seriously telling me he’s one of Kingsley’s people too?”
Hannah gave him a wry smile. “That’s exactly what I’m saying. A lot of folks in Jayrodale have seen how close they are. Some say Kingsley might be Marvin’s illegitimate son; others think he’s his adopted heir.
“Whatever the truth is, one thing’s clear-Kingsley has Marvin’s unconditional support.”
At that point, Hannah paused and swept a cold glance toward Shawn before letting out a sarcastic laugh. “Shawn, you’ve been out of Jayrodale for a while, haven’t you? Clearly, you have no clue what the situation is like now.
“Let me tell you-if Kingsley wanted to, he could crush your little Fields family with the snap of his fingers. So if you’re the one encouraging Quinton to go head-to- head with him, your family would be the first to get wiped out.”
Shawn stood there frozen, stammering, “I-I was just… you know, just talking big!”
Meanwhile, he quickly rolled up his sleeve to wipe away the cold sweat dripping down his forehead.
Quinton let out a cold snort. “Even if Kingsley has every advantage-timing, location, and support on his side. If the Wrights really go all in, Hannah, do you seriously think he could stop us?”
Hannah frowned. “If you come in full force, maybe Kingsley wouldn’t be able to handle the Wrights’ top fighters. But have you thought about what that really means? You’d be taking on every major power in Jayrodale at once.
“If Kingsley chooses to go to war with you, can you guarantee the Wrights can take on the entire city? This place isn’t just some small town-Jayrodale is a major hub in the region.
“Kingsley’s influence here is basically a monopoly, and that’s something you almost never see.”
Quinton clenched his jaw, looking conflicted and frustrated. “But what are we just supposed to give up on the Vitality Pill and the Titan Essence Pill? If we get our hands on those two formulas, they could spark a massive shift for the entire Wright family.”
His voice was filled with resentment and ambition, the kind that could not be disguised.
Hannah said, “I think the smarter move would be to head back to Blumedale first and come up with a better strategy. Sure, Kingsley’s sitting at the top now, but the higher you climb, the more enemies you collect.
“The Wrights, the Goldings from Blumedale, even Kenny from the Rhodes family… and don’t forget the Hidden Dragons. None of these are small players.”
Quinton’s eyes lit up as her words sank in, and he slowly nodded. “You’re right. Manipulating someone to do your dirty work-that’s the real art of war. If I go head-on with Kingsley, even if I win, it’d be @bloody victory. That kind of cost isn’t worth it.
“Besides, Jayrodale is his turf. But Blumedale… that’s where I call the shots. The problem is, how do I lure him there and force a fight on my own ground?”
Hannah smiled. “That part’s actually not hard. From what I’ve heard, Kingsley’s planning to head to Blumedale soon to visit the Rhodes family.”
Quinton’s eyes lit up even more. “You mean Lauren?”
Hannah nodded. “Exactly. Kingsley and Lauren are openly together now.

engaged to one of the Three Titans, the
Driscolls. Now that makes things very interesting.”
Quinton blinked in surprise, then suddenly burst into loud, booming laughter as if he had just stumbled onto the biggest jackpot of his life. “The Driscolls? Ha! This guy even dared to touch a woman tied to the Driscolls? Damn… I’ve got to admit, Kingsley’s got guts. Real guts!”
His expression turned sharp as ice, and he said coldly, “Have the Snees family get ready. The moment I head to Blumedale, they’re coming with me. Maybe the Driscolls-this giant of a force-can be the blade I use to crush Kingsley for good.
“But using the Driscolls like that… it’s like reaching into a burning fire to grab a prize. I’ll have to be extremely careful. One wrong move and I might end up setting myself on fire instead.”
