Going on a hunch, I let out a bit of my aura, just to see how she reacts. Every wolf or Lycan will react to Royal aura, it’s in our nature. But to my surprise, she shows no reaction so far. I let out a bit more, but still no reaction. I decide to really put the pressure on and push until roughly 75% of my power. All the guards in the room crane their necks in submission and a lot of our guards – the non-Lycan ones especially – are already on their knees. Yet she shows no signs at all, and it doesn’t even seem like she is purposefully resisting. ‘What are you up to?’ my mate links me. ‘Going on a hunch. Can you try pushing your aura out? She doesn’t seem to be responding to mine..’ and as I keep my aura out, I feel Zion’s aura waltzing over me. Although I am the Queen, he is much more powerful than I am and his aura could literally suffocate others. I can tell Zion isn’t even at a quarter of his strength and yet the guards are struggling. Even I feel the pressure building, though I am his mate and more immune to his aura than others. Astonishingly, she shows no signs whatsoever. ‘What the…?’ he links me, before letting out so much aura that the guards instantly drop to the floor in complete submission, shaking. Despite being more immune to his aura, I can’t help but bare my neck in submission at the amount he is pushing out as well.

I glance over to Lola, and she seems to notice something is going on as she frantically looks around her. She locks eyes with me and there is confusion written all over her face. Zion reigns back in his aura as he links me ‘what on earth… how?!’, clearly unable to form coherent sentences from shock. Not even me or our sons are able to stand against his aura. So, I have to admit I am equally baffled as he is. I relax back in my seat and the guards get back to their feet as he has withdrawn his aura. I link Zion ‘give me a minute alone with her, perhaps I am able to figure this out’ ‘absolutely not! I am not leaving you alone with her, goddess knows what she is capable of’ I scoff at his words. The girl looks so innocent. ‘Look at her Zion.. She won’t hurt me. What if you and the guards wait outside, just a few minutes, so I can try to get it out of her?’ ‘I would rather throw her in the dungeon until she talks’ I can hear the annoyance in his voice that this girl is able to withstand his power. But I cannot let him throw her in the dungeon. Not to mention, she hasn’t done anything wrong. ‘You are not throwing her in the dungeons! That poor girl has been through enough! Just stay right outside the door and I will link if I need you, ok? Trust me on this one honey’. He sighs before grumbling ‘fine’. Zion and the guards all leave the room, until it is just me and Lola left.

Lola POV

I had been so caught up in my hunger at the most mouthwatering scent, that I failed to notice what was happening around me, until all the guards were down on the floor and the Queen was baring her neck. The King was glaring my way, right before the King and all the guards left without as much as a word, leaving me alone with the Queen. My jaw fell open so far I am sure I’m going to catch some flies if I keep it open like this. I close it shut before croaking out “Y.. Your highness?”. The Queen offers me a sincere smile before replying “you can call me Xena when it’s just the two of us dear. I told the King and guards to leave us so we could speak in private. I know the King can come off quite imposing”. I smile back, an actual genuine smile. I can’t tell how long it has been since someone has been genuinely nice to me and actually cared about my wellbeing, which she seems to do. Weird as it may be, as she is the Queen and I am just a random girl to her. The King is a complete opposite to the Queen, he seems very stoic and stiff, perhaps it is because I am a rogue and the Royal Kingdom despises rogues.

“I will try” I reply with a small smile “what would you like to speak with me about?”. “I am going to get straight to the point dear, I am not one to beat around the bush. Are you aware of the special traits you possess?”. I am stunned by her words, what special traits? My face scrunches up in confusion and I guess she can read my expression as she continues “I take that as a no. Dear, you are possessing some traits ordinary wolves do not have. In fact, traits not even all Lycans have. Can you tell me the names of your parents dear?”. Although she gives off good vibes, I am hesitant to give out any personal information about myself. Liberty always told me to trust no one and the kindness could just be an act, I have only known the lady for what – 20 minutes or so? ‘Liberty, are you there?’ but no response, I guess she is still not wanting to attract attention. I sigh, I really do not want to get into this but I have no choice it seems “which traits do you mean? I haven’t noticed anything. My father’s name is David and my mother’s name was Lilly” I tell her. It’s not a complete lie as I consider them the only parents I have ever had. But I do leave out the part where I was found abandoned in the woods. As a rogue I am already one step behind, no need to inform them that I was unwanted as a baby already. Unwanted seems to be the recurring theme in my life..

“Well dear, you seem to have an unusual resistance against silver. The cuffs that were put on earlier were pure silver, and should have incapacitated you completely. But even more strange is that you seem to be completely unaffected by the King’s aura dear. And let me tell you, not even me or our sons are immune to his aura, as you may have seen earlier” she smiles at me. I’m at a loss for words for a moment, she must be mistaken. I am nothing special at all. Yes I am a good fighter, but that is about it. I am the unwanted outcast. Perhaps it is because my wolf is hiding? “I… Excuse me your highness but you must be mistaken. There is nothing special about me at all. Perhaps the reason I was able to withstand his aura has to do with my wolf not being here” “perhaps… And please, call me Xena dear” she replies, but her tone tells me she doesn’t believe that at all. While she is looking at me curiously I decide to take my chances and ask when I will be able to leave again. “I’m sorry, it takes some getting used to, calling the Queen by her front name. I am sorry if this comes across as rude – but when will I be able to leave? I would like to get to the human city and start building my life there”.

“I will have to discuss that with the King dear, it is not every day that we encounter a female rogue and although you are able to stand your ground – we still feel responsible for your wellbeing. But it is getting late and it will be getting dark soon, how about you at least stay the night here, with us? You can have a good meal and take a nice shower and get a good night’s sleep. And – you won’t give the Queen a sleepless night by having her allow a young lady to be out there in the woods at night” she winks at me. Which is her polite way of saying I look skinny and filthy I’m sure. I blush, once again hyper aware of the state I am in right now standing in front of the Queen of all people. Even though I would like to be on my way, I have to admit a meal and a shower sounds really good. Not to mention sleeping in a bed for a change, rather than a tree. “Well, I wouldn’t dare give my Queen a sleepless night” I reply with a small smile, to which she gives me the brightest smile I have seen her give so far. “Alright dear, I will bring everyone back in now, and I have requested our sons to escort you to your room for the night. If there is anything you need at all, don’t hesitate to ask any of the maids or my sons, your room is adjacent to theirs. Dinner will be at 7 PM, I will have a maid escort you to the dining hall” I smile and nod in return.

It does feel weird that they are allowing me, a rogue, to stay in their personal quarters. And to have adjacent rooms with the infamous identical twins Zeke & Zane and to have them escort me there is not something I look forward to. I have heard all about them, and to say I am not impressed is an understatement. One could wonder how such stuck up, egotistical boys could have such a sweet and caring mother. The boys are apparently extremely handsome, but their attitude suggest they are very aware of that as well. Girls throw themselves at them (barf!) and according to all the stories I have heard they are happy to oblige, having different women glued to their arms every other week. Disgusting. Nobody seems to value finding their mate anymore nowadays. I know I sound like a hypocrite, as I don’t want a mate at all – but that is still different from those who f*ck around and then act all lovey dovely and innocent when they find their mate. I snap out of my thoughts when everyone re-enters the room again and again I can smell the most mouthwatering scent I have ever smeller. What is that?!
