Chapter 38 – Goddess’s Design His Fated Mate Willow Novel Free By Pooja

Reuben

I watched her leave just as I watched her cry all night through the window of her room. She had locked herself in her bedroom and I knew there was no way she was going to let me in. So I spent the entire night crouched in the large tree next to the packhouse where I could watch her.

Dex was a hot mess in my mind from the moment we felt her hatred. I clenched my fists at my sides, unable to hear what Oran was saying as he read a paper to me from the other side of the room.

That’s when the sound of door slamming broke into the relative calm of the room followed shortly by angry steps stomping up the stairs to my office, “Alpha Reuben!!”

a man barked.

“Alpha Adam?”

Oran frowned bitterly at the familiar face, “What the fuck do you think you are doing entering in the Alpha’s office like a rogue?!”

he demanded.

“I have to act like a rogue when your Alpha is fucking announcing some other woman is his soulmate and openly pursuing her when he is engaged to my niece!”

he growled while staring at my back as I had not even glanced over my shoulder at him once.

Alpha Adam was Ella’s uncle and my father, Alpha Luis’s, best friend. After Ella’s parents’ untimely death, he had been managing Ella’s pack until she was able to take over the pack, which was meant to be very soon.

“Tell me what the fuck is going on, Alpha Reuben!”

When he got no reply, Alpha Adam went wild. “While I was fucking overcome with the worry about protecting my pack after the mysterious accident with the Silver Moon Pack, I suddenly learned that you already have two childern and a fucking soulmate. Not only that but they have been staying with you in your home where my Ella is supposed to live!”

Listening to him speak ill of Willow made me slowly turn towards him. His face was red and had turned ugly with his anger, “Don’t forget that the papers you put your thumbprint on five years ago were not a joke. Your marriage to Ella is unavoidable in every way. You can’t act on your own, Alpha Reuben!”

he growled as I slowly walked towards my desk.

“Or?”

I inquired as my fingers roamed among files and stationery.

He was taken aback for a second at the calm in my tone. He gritted his teeth knowing he could not do anything other than threaten me with words. He sucked in an angry breath and said, “Are you planning to disrespect your father’s decision for some random she-wolf, Alpha Reuben.”

Just as those words slipped from his lips, I grabbed a pen from my desk, slammed his head to my desk, pinning it there, and aimed the pen right in his eye.

“AHHHH….”

Alpha Adam screamed in terror but the pen never punctured his eye. He opened his fearful eyes to find the pen an inch away from his eye. “Alpha… Reu… Reuben…”

he stammered in horror as the side of his face that was pinned to the desk bled.

“You shouldn’t make the fatal mistake of thinking that I don’t fucking know you also hand in that accident of five years ago, Alpha Adam,”

I leaned down closet to his ear.

Adam’s eyes widened in shock as he broke out in a cold sweat. All these years, he had been mistaken in believing that I did not know his innovation the whole time that I had been locked up that year.

“….I did not…do anything… Alpha….it was….your father…”

when my father’s name fell on my ears, my sanity snapped. I clenched his hair harder then stabbed the pen into his cheek making him scream in pain.

“I recognize your golden rimmed pen that Vin offered me to use to sign, Alpha Adam,”

I whispered, watching his blood pour out of his cheek as he struggled in my grasp in pain.

“Remember…”

I yanked his head back and growled in his face, “Those fucking papers can not stop me from being with my mate. That marriage may be undeniable because of those papers but that does not mean I will be forced to marry Ella. I will only allow Ella to save face in front of the pack since she is known as my fiance but that’s all. She can not have more than that and if you’re greedy for more than you can take back your niece back to your pack,”

I let him go, pulling the pen out of his cheek.

Moaning in pain, he moved away from me at lightning speed and looked at me with red teary eyes, “Oh and one more thing. Don’t worry about being attacked and killed like the Silver Moon Pack. Just say another bad thing about my mate and see how quickly I wipe out your pack in an even more mysteriously brutal way, all before the real culprit has a chance.”

Willow

With my eyes closed, I felt it once more-the sensation of a touch, of someone tenderly brushing away the fallen strands of hair from my face and delicately tucking them behind my ear. The touch was so tender and soothing that it felt almost surreal, until it began to caress my cheek.

“Mmhmm,”

I couldn’t help but murmur, drawn toward the unexpected comforting warmth, leaning in and brushing my cheek against it. At that moment my phone rang, jolting me awake from my slumber.

My weary head rested on the desk where I had toiled through the night. Slowly, I opened my eyes and straightened up in the chair, glancing towards my closed bedroom door. Once again, my room was empty and I was alone. Was I dreaming again? But that touch, that warmth-it had felt too real for it to have been a dream that had been recurring for the past four days. While sleeping, I’d sense someone’s presence, even felt a gentle touch on my face. Yet, whenever I’d stir and open my eyes, the room would remain empty, the door closed as it had been before I succumbed to exhaustion at my desk.

“Could it be…”

Ceri’s voice echoed in my mind, suggesting we were both thinking along the same lines. However, I shook my head to clear my thoughts, until my gaze landed on the wall clock.

“8:00 a.m?!”

I gasped. “Damn!”

Grabbing my phone, I hurriedly dashed out of my room and downstairs. It was time for the children to go to kindergarten! How could my alarm have failed me today? As I entered the dining area in haste, I paused abruptly at the sight that greeted me-three pairs of eyes staring in my direction. My hair and clothes were a mess.

Blinking in surprise, I found Wyatt and Lori seated with Reuben at the dining table, happily chatting and enjoying their time together.

“Mommy, good morning,”

Lori greeted me with a bright smile.

“Why are you…”

I looked at them in confusion.

“Mommy, what’s wrong?”

Wyatt blinked up at me, looking concerned. “We already brushed our teeth and took our baths.”

“It’s Sunday,”

Reuben suddenly explained, seemingly aware of the reason behind my frantic morning rush. I blinked in response before sense was knocked back into me. Wait! Yes, it was Sunday, and the children didn’t have kindergarten today.

Reuben looked at me with a hint of amusement in his eyes. The corners of my lips twitched in embarrassment. Ignoring him, I attempted to make a quick exit.

“Mommy, let’s eat. We’ve been waiting for you,”

Wyatt halted me.

“Why were you waiting for me?”
