He seems taken aback by my answer. Thinking about it, it might not be the best idea to be rude to the beta of the Royal Kingdom. But then again, I really don’t want to answer any personal questions and have them find out who I am and where I am from. What if they find out who I am and send me back or something? Or contact alpha Culio regarding me? I can’t have that happen. The remainder of the ride is silent, the Beta’s eyes occasionally glaze over, indicating he is mind linking with someone.

Once we reach the Royal palace I am beyond stunned by its beauty. I have heard of and of course expected the Royal palace to be next level, but nothing could have prepared me for this. Just what we can see from the front the palace is massive beyond words. I don’t know how much ground the entire palace is covering, but I am guessing it would take a day or so to travel through by foot from front to back if the backyard is equally big. Talk about filthy rich and uneven distribution of wealth in the world, I think to myself. The outside of the palace gives off French vibes with its beautiful white stone walls and white pillars everywhere. The building is three stories high and has a dark colored roof, which is in magnificent contrast to the rest of the building. Statues of massive wolves are situated on both sides of the driveway leading up to the house, and the building itself is also decorated with carvings of wolves and former Royals. The front of the palace isn’t highly guarded to my surprise, but as a lot of the guards and the Royal family are Lycans, I guess they don’t need to have many guards present there. Lycans are that much superior to us regular wolves that we are no match to them. Even most of their omegas could outpower many normal Alpha werewolves. It is why the Royal army is so feared, and why packs would not dare defy orders of the King.

The car comes to a halt at the front of the palace and the unconscious rogue is dragged out, while I am being escorted out of the car by a guard. I can’t tell the difference between normal werewolves and Lycans, but by the size of him I am guessing my guard is a Lycan. If I wasn’t slightly nervous about my predicament I would have started a jibber jabber conversation with him just to mess with his stoic expression, but as we get closer towards the front of the palace my nerves continue to grow. ‘Remember don’t tell them about me, tell them I am dormant after a personal event or something convincing. Trust no one. I am going to retract as far back as I can now, so they will hopefully not be able to sense me at all, or very slightly and believe I am dormant’. ‘Ok’ is all I reply to Liberty as I am ushered into the building.

Lola POV

The inside of the palace is equally – if not more – impressive than the outside. Filthy rich doesn’t even begin to describe it – this is just all too excessive. The floors are covered in black marble and the walls are all in different shades of marble. There is lavish furniture everywhere, which looks more expensive than a normal person’s house, and all of them look like they have never even been sat on once. Artwork which I am sure also has cost a fortune is covering the walls everywhere, and the high ceilings have huge crystal chandeliers hanging from them. Every individual we pass is wearing either a uniform or very expensive formal clothing. Which all of a sudden makes me hyper aware of the worn down, dirty attire I am wearing currently. Not to mention my unwashed and filthy self. I am sure I reek horribly and especially with heightened wolf – no, Lycan! – senses, I am sure I smell almost unbearable. But the guard’s stoic expression doesn’t give anything away if I do, lucky me.

We walk for quite a while before the other guard dragging the rogue diverts from our path, while we continue down the endless hallways. After some time, the guard stops right beside 2 grand closed doors. Afraid to ask, I just stand there and wait. After a few minutes, the doors open and the guard ushers me inside. I am so in awe of the interior of the room that I fail to notice where I am being led to, and I end up almost tripping over my own feet. This room should actually be named “filthy rich” as the walls and even the furniture all have golden elements and embroideries everywhere. It makes me think once again as to how unevenly distributed the wealth in the world is. For just one chair in here, I bet I could buy my whole house (cottage) back home – yuck! I am just thinking to myself that I am ready to get the f*ck out of here. This room feels too expensive for me to even as much as breathe in. When the guard comes to a halt, I gulp thickly and cast my eyes forward again. In my fascination with the interior, I completely lost touch with everything else around me and failed to notice that none other than the f*cking King and Queen are now in front of me. I was not expecting that…. I was expecting the beta or one of the warriors to interrogate me – why on earth would the King and Queen interrogate people?! Do they not have more pressing matters to attend to?

The King clears his throat before speaking up “tell me, what is your name young lady?”. Again, I wasn’t expecting that question. I don’t even know what I was expecting or should expect – all I know is I really would like to avoid talking about myself. “My name is Lola, your highness” I reply while giving a curtly bow to show my respect to the most powerful man in the world. “Well Lola, I am assuming you know who me and the lady next to me are, and so we can skip those introductions. Please start by elaborating to us what happened which lead you here”. Great, this I can answer at least. “I was being chased down by 5 rogues, your highness. I saw the signs indicating the border, and I was sure to never trespass the Royal borders myself. 2 of them, however, perished or got heavily injured when trespassing onto your lands during the chase. One of them caused an explosion, which knocked me and the remaining 3 rogues out for some time. When I regained composure and tried to run, one of the rogues caught my ankle, and we were fighting each other until he lost consciousness. During that struggle, the Royal Army had apparently approached us and ordered us to stop. I immediately stopped and surrendered. The other 2 rogues, however, failed to comply and were shot by one of the guards. The remaining rogue and I were then brought in for questioning, as I understood” I state honestly. Well, leaving out some details but still, honestly.

“Would you care to explain how the 2 rogues that have trespassed ended up on our lands?” I try not to visibly gulp at his question, but I am sure as he is Lycan, he caught on that I did. Well – sh*t!
