Chapter 355 – Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family

Hearing Romeo’s question, the manager was startled. He suddenly felt a bit guilty. Did Mr. McMillian already know something?

Did a waiter sneakily report it to him?

“Why aren’t you speaking?”

The manager felt uneasy, “No, nothing.”

His nervousness didn’t escape Romeo, “You should know the consequences of hiding things.”

Realizing he couldn’t hide it any longer, the manager confessed, “Mr. McMillian, if you have any anger, vent it on me. It was me who allowed Ms. Bella to hit someone. It has nothing to do with her.”

“It was you who allowed her?” Romeo raised an eyebrow, “She hit someone?”

“It’s mainly because those people went too far.” The manager told about Alvis injuring the waiter and Ms. Bella helping them.

“Is that waiter very handsome?”

The manager was taken aback by Mr. McMillian’s question, quickly saying, “No, compared to you, his looks are nowhere close. Oh no, I should say there’s no comparison at all.”

Romeo fell silent before the manager spoke again, “Ms. Bella has always been a kind soul. Anytime she sees an injustice, she’s always quick to step up.”

“She’s indeed got a big heart,” the only thing Romeo was concerned about was, “Did she get hurt?”

“No, she didn’t. The other guy got the worst of it.”

Especially that guy who got a good whooping from Ms. Bella.

“What’s the name of that jerk who insulted her?” Romeo’s tone carried a hint of danger.

“Harley.”

“And that flirty one who tried to hit on her?”

“Alvis.”

“You know what to do, right?”

“Rest assured, Mr. McMillian. Those people have all been blacklisted from the club tonight and won’t be stepping foot in here again.”

“Hmm.”

After Romeo hung up the phone, he sent Carl to deal with those two. Soon, he heard the sound of a car returning.

Mirabella drove into the garage, stepped out of the car, and was immediately pulled into Romeo’s arms.

They’d only been apart for a few hours. Was all this fuss really necessary?

Romeo took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of the girl in his arms, then he looked her over. Her feet, hands, and face were all fine. The manager hadn’t lied to him. She was unscathed.

Mirabella was carried into the living room by Romeo. Her phone vibrated, and she took it out and saw a message from the manager.

[Ms. Bella, are you home?]

[Yes, I am,] Mirabella replied while in Romeo’s arms.

[Did anything happen on the way home?] The manager was clearly worried.

[Safe and sound.]

[That’s good, I won’t disturb your rest then. Oh right, Evan is okay. He’s been bandaged up and is resting at home.]

[Okay.]

Seeing her reply to messages, Romeo couldn’t help but ask, “Who are you chatting with?”

“The manager.”

“What does he want?”

“He’s been acting a bit strange today, always worrying that something would happen to me on the road.”

Romeo thought back to earlier. Hmm, the manager better not think he was some sleazy guy trying to stalk the prettiest girl at the club.

When did his reputation among the staff become so bad?

Just then, Romeo received a call. After a few short words, he looked down at Mirabella in his arms and said, “My parents are back in the country. They want me to come over tomorrow. I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to them.”

His parents only came back once in a while, who knew when they would return next.

He wanted his parents to know that he’d found the love of his life. As soon as she graduated, he planned to marry her.

But whether they met his parents or not was up to Mirabella.

“If you’re not ready, we can always do it later,” Romeo didn’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on her.

“What do they like?” Mirabella suddenly asked.

Romeo was slightly taken aback, but quickly replied, “You are the best gift, as long as you’re there.”

“I can’t show up empty-handed the first time,” Mirabella continued, “Do they have any special hobbies?

Like, do they collect anything?”

“Dad is a big fan of the calligrapher Labella,” Romeo’s fingers gently ran through her hair as he softly said, “I’ll have someone buy it.”

“Labella’s works?” Mirabella raised an eyebrow and said, “I’ve got plenty.”

And she did. If it’s not enough, Labella could whip some out in no time.

“And your mom?”

“She’s got a lot of hobbies, but she loves dressing up the most.”

Dressing up? That’s a piece of cake.

“I’ll take care of the gift, and you set the time.”

Seeing Mirabella so agreeable, Romeo’s gaze softened even more, proposing, “How about we have dinner tomorrow night?”

“Sure.”

Romeo lifted her face and planted a kiss.

On the other side, Phillip heard his son and daughter-in-law were back. He frowned. “They remembered to come home!”

“This is our home. If we don’t come back, where are we supposed to go?” George McMillan walked in with a big grin and said, “Dad, long time no see. I heard you’re doing better; seeing you tonight, it’s true.”

Jennifer McMillan handed the gift to the butler, slipped on a pair of slippers, and walked in. “Dad, you’re much more lively than before; even your voice is strong. I could hear it from a mile away.”

Phillip couldn’t help but laugh, pretending to scold, “Jennifer, you’ve been away too long this time!”

“If we don’t go far, we’d be tempted to meddle in the company’s business, and Romeo wouldn’t like that.” Jennifer walked towards him, laughing heartily. “Seeing those people in the family just makes my blood boil, going far means not having to see them.”

George plopped down on the couch and couldn’t help but ask, “Where’s Mom? I heard she’s recovered.”

“Is that my son and Jennifer back?”

The elevator door opened, and Shirley, aided by a maid, walked out. Her smile was warm and generous, and standing there, she exuded a gentle and beautiful aura.

“Mom?” The moment Jennifer saw Shirley, she felt like crying.

How many years had it been since she’s seen Shirley like this?

In the past, she’d just lie in bed motionless, no response however they called her, no reply however they tried to chat with her.

Now, she’s standing in front of her, alert and full of life.

“Mom.” Jennifer immediately ran over and couldn’t help but hug Shirley tight, tears streaming down her face. “I’m so glad you’ve recovered.”

Years ago, when Shirley first fell into a coma, their whole family was in tears.

Especially Jennifer, her bond with Shirley was even stronger than that between a real mother and daughter.

“Seeing you healthy and standing in front of me is just wonderful.”

“Alright, Jennifer, don’t cry.” Shirley patted her back, smiling kindly. “I know you’re a good girl. I’m fine now; you look younger after all these years.”

Jennifer couldn’t help but laugh. “Mom, you haven’t aged a bit these past years, not a wrinkle more.”

“Mom.” George also came over, hugging them both tightly. He never dared dream of this day, his mother standing in front of them, having a conversation with them.

“Let’s sit and talk.” Phillip hurried over to support his wife, worried about her standing too long. “She’s just recovered, she can’t stand for long.”

Jennifer quickly helped. “I heard it was that girl the Collins family just found who saved you?”

“Yes, that girl is a brilliant doctor, the highly acclaimed Dr. Bell.”

Jennifer and George were slightly surprised, they didn’t expect the doctor, whose reputation was so legendary, turned out to be a young girl.

“I heard Romeo is quite smitten with her?” Jennifer asked again.

“Not just Romeo, your father and I both adore her.” Shirley didn’t hide her fondness for Mirabella.

Loving this storyline… somehow other people always the first one to find out Mirabella amazing other identities than her parents… and since she cured Romeo’s grandma she should also help cure her own grandparents too… And I like how the heroine is so strong in this novel unlike others where the heroine always need to be “saved”… 😁
Please update soon… can’t wait to read more…
