Though her eyes were red from crying, Susan’s gaze was as cold as ice.

She raised her right foot and kicked Jada hard in the chest.

The sudden pain knocked the wind out of Jada, causing her to stumble back, nearly choking, her face turning pale.

“Susan, that kick was for our father. He treated you so well. How dare you do this to him?” Susan’s voice was sharp, unwavering, and full of anger.

Jada looked up at her, smiling bitterly. “Treated me well? How…”

Susan retorted, “When we were kids, you took all my pocket money, but you were never satisfied. You took all my clothes and jewelry, but you never showed any gratitude. Every penny spent on those things was earned through his hard work.”

Jada bit her lower lip, momentarily at a loss for words. After a brief pause, she finally said, “He only cares about you. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given the company to you alone. If he had given me a part of the company, I wouldn’t have done this.”

The more Jada spoke, the more she convinced herself that she was the real victim. Esteban and Susan were to blame for everything. They had pushed her to act this way.

Another sharp kick landed on Jada’s chest, making her scream in agony.

The pain radiated through her body, and her heart was filled with fury. How had things turned out like this? How could she be treated so poorly?

The hatred in Jada’s eyes intensified. She glared at Susan, feeling as if her world was crashing down around her.

Susan said through clenched teeth, “Jada, I swear you’ll get what’s coming to you.”

At that moment, the operating room light turned off.

Esteban, still on the gurney, was pushed out. The doctor spoke up, “Fortunately, it wasn’t life-threatening. He should wake up soon.”

Susan breathed a sigh of relief, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at Esteban. She followed him into the VIP ward.

Jada was also taken to the ward, still kneeling on the floor with a pale face.

Elaine and Glenn stayed in the ward to keep Susan company and comfort her. Susan felt warmth in her heart.

Although she didn’t have a mother, Elaine and Glenn treated her like their own daughter.

“Elaine, you should go home and rest. Since my father is fine now, I can take care of him here,” Susan said gently to Elaine.

Elaine nodded, recognizing that too many people in the ward would disturb the patient’s rest. She asked Dane to stay with Susan and left with Glenn.

At that moment, Mara was also in the hospital.

After being given emergency treatment, she had fallen into a coma. However, unbeknownst to everyone, she had actually woken up long ago and was pretending to be unconscious.

Mara had been waiting for what felt like an eternity, yet no one came to visit her. Finally, she opened her eyes, glancing around the empty hospital room. Her heart simmered with anger as curses aimed at Esteban swirled in her mind.

How cold-blooded could he be? Even in her condition, he couldn’t be bothered to check on her!

Frustrated, Mara reached for her phone, intending to send him a message. But instead, her screen was filled with news about him.

“Esteban was in a car accident?” she read, a twisted sense of satisfaction creeping in.

After all his cruelty, it would serve him right if he were dead. If he died, everything—the wealth, the family assets—would be hers. She allowed herself a brief moment of indulgence in the thought, feeling almost pleased.

But her smug expression froze when she clicked on the article.

The person who had hit Esteban was Jada?

Photos from the scene flashed across the screen, and Mara instantly recognized her daughter. Her fingers trembled as she scrolled further.

The comments section was filled with activity.

“Jada just got out of custody and now she’s killed someone? How can she be so heartless? People like her deserve the death penalty!”

“Looks like this is Jada’s true nature. No wonder Esteban wants a divorce. With a daughter like that, Mara can’t be much better.”

“Jada should be sentenced to death right away!”

“Thank God Esteban survived. Jada is beyond despicable! I hope he sues her and throws her in prison.”

“Actually, I think Jada’s innocent. His father gave the company to Susan, and Jada is left with nothing. It’s no surprise she snapped.”

“You don’t go around killing people just because life doesn’t go your way!”

Most of the comments were harshly criticizing Jada.

Mara felt a knot of anxiety twist in her stomach, though she couldn’t help but blame her daughter. Jada had been so reckless!

Mara understood her frustration, but as long as she remained Esteban’s wife, things could have worked out in her favor.

Now, everything had changed. The public, once sympathetic toward her, had turned against her, believing she deserved what was happening.

Upon learning that Esteban was in the same hospital, Mara quickly asked for his room number.

She reached the door of the VIP room and noticed that Esteban was already awake.

Pushing the door open, Mara stepped inside.

Her arrival briefly caught everyone’s attention, but they quickly averted their gaze with cold indifference. Only Jada, kneeling in despair, lifted her head with hopeful eyes.

“Mom!” Jada cried out.

Jada was a mess, dirt and blood smeared across her disheveled appearance.

Mara felt a sharp pang of sympathy and rushed to help Jada to her feet. But before she could, Isabella swiftly kicked her away. Clutching her waist in pain, Mara gasped, “How dare you! Where are your manners? I’m much older than you, and I’m Susan’s mother!”

The audacity of Isabella’s actions left Mara seething.

But Isabella, calm and cold, simply replied, “Do you deserve the title?”

Those few cutting words made Mara burn with fury and humiliation.

She shot a furious glare at Isabella but knew better than to argue now. Swallowing her pride, Mara turned and knelt before Esteban, tears streaming down her face. “Esteban, Jada acted out of impulse! Are you alright?” Her voice trembled with worry.

Esteban, still pale, sat quietly while Susan fed him soup.

He didn’t even spare Mara a glance.

Feeling awkward in the silence, Mara continued, “Esteban, now that I see you’re okay, I can finally breathe. You don’t know how terrified I was when I heard the news.”

“Shut up! If you were really that terrified, let’s divorce!” Even with his weakened voice, Esteban’s words cut like steel.

Desperate, Mara pleaded, “Esteban, please, I want to stay and take care of you.”

“Who are you trying to fool? My father doesn’t need your so-called care,” Susan snapped, her eyes flashing with disgust.

Seeing the cold look on Esteban’s face, Mara felt as though her world was crumbling.

Mara knew that refusing the divorce was no longer an option. Even the netizens, once sympathetic, would no longer support her.

Taking a deep breath, she turned to Esteban and said, “Alright, Esteban, if you’re so determined to divorce me, I have no choice but to agree. However, you need to give me a hundred million as compensation, and I want to take Jada with me. Don’t hold her accountable for what happened. I promise we’ll disappear from your life forever.”

Susan nearly burst out laughing in disbelief. She had never encountered someone so shameless.

Naturally, Esteban was unwilling to agree. He replied coldly, “I won’t give you a single penny, and Jada must face the consequences of her actions.”

“I won’t divorce you then, no matter what,” Mara retorted, gritting her teeth. Tears streamed down her face, but her voice dripped with menace. “Last time I attempted suicide, plenty of people supported me. If you’re set on sending Jada to prison, I’ll die right at the gates of the Riggs Group!”

How utterly vicious!
