But Isabella spared him only a brief, disinterested glance before turning away and walking off with her teammates.
A pang of regret hit Wesley.
“Wesley, let go! You’re going to kill her!” Jada’s voice rang out in alarm.
Snapping out of his rage, Wesley loosened his grip.
Meanwhile, Isabella remained completely unfazed by the commotion, walking off with her teammates to celebrate their championship victory over dinner.
Everyone was still reeling from the revelation that Isabella was, in fact, Rosemarie.
Andrew’s expression was particularly conflicted as he stared at her.
He recalled how, in the past, he had badmouthed Rosemarie for Isabella’s sake.
Feeling a bit awkward under his gaze, Isabella cleared her throat.
“Ahem, let’s eat. What do you want? It’s on me,” she quickly offered, handing him the menu.
Andrew smirked. “So, aren’t you going to say something about being Rosemarie?”
“It’s all in the past. Not really worth talking about,” Isabella replied, feeling a bit sheepish.
Waylon jumped in, eyes bright with excitement. “Isabella, you’re amazing! How did I not realize you were Rosemarie all this time? You’re incredible! I can’t believe I’ve got such an awesome sister! We have to take some selfies!”
Waylon was over the moon, snapping a few pictures with Isabella and sending them to Dane.
It didn’t take long for Dane to reply. “Where are you guys?”
Waylon replied casually, “We’re in Aswil for a vacation.” Dane shot back, “Really? I heard there’s a racing event in Aswil recently. Are you racing again?”
Waylon quickly denied it. “Nah, just brought Isabella here for some fun. No racing involved.”
Dane wasn’t buying it. He retorted, “Do you really think you can fool me?”
Waylon felt a sting of guilt as he read Dane’s message. His brother wasn’t easily fooled, and Waylon instantly regretted sending those pictures.
In a panic, Waylon pleaded, “Dane, I’m sorry! Please don’t tell Mom and Dad.”
Desperate, he quickly transferred one hundred thousand dollars to Dane.
Dane accepted the bribe with a smug grin. “Hmph, just make sure you don’t lead Isabella down the wrong path.”
Waylon gritted his teeth, thinking that his brother was simply jealous of the close bond he shared with Isabella.
Meanwhile, Zahir observed Andrew and Isabella with keen interest and remarked, “Andrew, I never expected you to find someone you truly love.”
Andrew smiled, his face lighting up with charm and handsomeness. “Yes, people do change. Before I met Isabella, I was convinced I’d never get married.”
Zahir nodded, genuinely pleased for their happiness. “That’s wonderful.”
Andrew turned to him, his eyes bright with optimism. “You’ll find someone, too.”
Just as they were about to place their orders, a parade of dishes was brought to their table.
Isabella furrowed her brow in confusion and asked, “Did they get the table wrong?”
“No mistake here,” Andrew replied, his smile widening. “I had them bring these out. This place has a special menu reserved for VIPs. You all performed brilliantly, so consider this my treat.”
A rich, commanding voice echoed through the room as Savannah entered, flanked by her entourage of bodyguards. She was draped in a striking yellow trench coat, layered over a perfectly tailored shirt dress, exuding an aura that was both captivating and untouchable. Her smile, though warm, carried a distinct undercurrent of regal authority.
Waylon and Zahir exchanged confused looks, their bewilderment evident.
“Who is she?”
Andrew shrugged nonchalantly. “You are generous, Princess Savannah.”
“These dishes are quite the luxury, even for the privileged. I trust you’ll enjoy them,” Savannah’s smile remained, as though she were waiting for a specific reaction.
Normally, such a comment would have led to an invitation to join the table. However, Andrew, ever composed, simply responded with a courteous, “Thank you, Princess,” without offering the usual invitation.
Savannah nodded, her smile unwavering. “Enjoy your meal. Feel free to visit me for tea whenever you find the time,” she said, before turning gracefully and leaving.
The moment she was out of earshot, Waylon’s curiosity got the better of him. “Who was that?”
“A princess of Aswil, Savannah.”
“Right… but isn’t Aswil in the middle of some serious trouble? Is she trying to win us over or something?” Waylon wondered aloud.
Zahir remarked, “Winning us over won’t do much. She’s probably after Andrew.”
Andrew responded calmly, “Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing.”
Waylon felt a slight unease, his eyes flicking between Andrew and Isabella.
Isabella gave a wry smile. “Relax, Waylon. We’re not that easy to fool.”
Waylon scratched his nose, suddenly feeling like the most foolish one in the group.
The rare delicacies were nothing short of exquisite, and everyone savored the meal to the fullest.
After the hearty feast, they returned to the hotel to pack up and prepare for their departure. However, Andrew had a quick errand to run. Isabella knew exactly what he was up to and didn’t bother asking.
Waylon sidled up to her, lowering his voice. “I have a feeling Princess Savannah has some hidden motives. Aren’t you even a little worried about Andrew?”
“There’s always someone with an agenda when it comes to Andrew, but that’s his mess to handle, not mine,” Isabella replied calmly.
Waylon couldn’t help but flash her a thumbs-up. “You’re something else.” Her perspective on relationships was something a lot of people could learn from.
A couple of hours later, Andrew returned, his expression revealing nothing. Isabella sensed a subtle seriousness about him but chose to keep her questions to herself.
With the competition behind them, they were ready to head home.
As they drove in silence, Andrew’s voice broke through. “We’re being followed,” he said, his tone calm but firm. Instantly, everyone’s eyes darted to the rearview mirror, spotting the car trailing close behind.
Isabella glanced back and remarked, “It’s probably just Wesley and Jada.”
Waylon shrugged, adding, “No point wasting energy on them—they can’t do anything to us.” But Isabella’s eyes narrowed slightly. She was intrigued by what might be running through Wesley’s mind.
Meanwhile, in the car behind them, Wesley was a complete wreck. He hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep the night before. They’d handed the impostor over to the police, only to discover she was a former racer—one Rosemarie had defeated in the past. After Rosemarie’s mysterious disappearance, the woman had resorted to impersonating her for a quick payday.
Jada, humiliated at being duped by such a fraud, felt the sting of shame. When they left the police station, their spirits were in tatters. Not only had they failed to make any waves in the competition, but they’d also become a laughingstock.
Just as Wesley was about to rev up the engine and take off, Jada quickly stopped him. “Wesley, hold up. Where are you going?”
A storm of dark emotions flashed in Wesley’s eyes, his determination crystal clear. He was set on seeing Isabella!
Jada felt her heart twist with an intense ache. She understood all too well the depths of Wesley’s love for Rosemarie. Now that Isabella had been revealed to be the real Rosemarie, it was obvious he would abandon everything to be with her.
Isabella. Why did she have to take everything from me?
A crushing wave of hopeless despair washed over Jada. She had decided to date Wesley, convinced she had finally grasped the summit of her dreams, only to watch him slip away like Andrew and Norton.
“Wesley, I get that you admire Rosemarie, but do you really think Isabella will want to see you now? Don’t forget what you did to her before…” Jada’s voice was soft.
Wesley’s gaze bored into hers with a fierce glare. “If it hadn’t been for you, would I have ended up doing that?”
It was the first time Wesley had ever spoken so harshly to Jada, leaving her utterly speechless.
