“Rosemarie!” someone exclaimed.

All eyes turned toward the woman in sunglasses standing next to Jada. “Is that really Rosemarie?” someone asked eagerly.

“It’s been a while,” the woman said coolly, her voice radiating the same pride and detachment that had defined Rosemarie back then.

“After all these years, I thought you’d never race again. What changed your mind?” asked another woman, her flowing flaxen hair catching the light as she stepped closer.

The air between them thickened with tension, and the hall fell silent.

The woman was Thea Carter—the champion of that competition. Rosemarie’s abrupt withdrawal had handed her the victory, but no one considered Thea the true winner. Most believed that if Rosemarie had raced, she would have claimed the title.

Thea hated that narrative. In her mind, her abilities were equal to Rosemarie’s, but Rosemarie’s mystique had made everyone assume otherwise.

She had spent years waiting for Rosemarie’s comeback, driven by a burning need to prove that she was the strongest once and for all.

But Rosemarie, as composed as ever, said with a calm expression, “It’s just another race. I have nothing to prove. If I feel like joining, I will. If not, I won’t.”

The sheer arrogance, the audacity!

Everyone was stunned. It seemed that Rosemarie’s skills had only sharpened over the years. After all, even a former champion wouldn’t have the audacity to speak so boldly, treating an international competition as if it were nothing more than a warm-up.

Thea’s expression hardened, her eyes cold with determination. “Ha! You’re just the same—still acting like you’re better than everyone else. But this time, I’ll make sure you see how wrong you are!”

Throwing one last glare, she spun on her heels and marched back to her team, her posture stiff with resolve.

A buzz of excitement filled the air as everyone watched with growing anticipation. Thea was one of the few elite female racers in the sport, and with her squaring off against Rosemarie once more, the question on everyone’s mind was clear—who would come out on top this time?

Jada’s sharp eyes scanned Isabella’s group nearby. A quick headcount confirmed it—they were one racer short. Without a full roster, their team wouldn’t qualify for the group event. A sly grin crept across Jada’s face, her satisfaction barely concealed.

The event organizers climbed onto the platform, calling the teams to their designated tables. Once the rules were explained and finalized, the crowd shifted to enjoy their meal.

After the meal, they made their way to the race venue for the draw. The team race was up first, and Isabella pulled an opponent from another country. Her team dominated the competition, securing an easy win.

Luck wasn’t on Jada’s side—her team’s opponent turned out to be none other than Thea’s formidable squad. Jada felt a flicker of nervousness, though the crowd buzzed with excitement. Two powerhouse teams going head-to-head—who would come out on top?

“I’m betting on Rosemarie,” someone said confidently. “She’s never let me down before.”

“True, Rosemarie’s brilliant, but she’s the only known star on The Rams. No one’s sure how strong the rest of her team is.”

“My bet’s on Thea. She’s put together a lineup of serious talent.”

“Yeah, I’m backing them all the way!”

Thea inhaled deeply, her grip tightening on the steering wheel. Sitting in the driver’s seat, she discussed with her teammates, hammering out a detailed game plan for the race ahead. As soon as the race kicked off, her full attention locked onto the track. She poured every bit of effort into her performance. Holding a steady lead, Thea braced for Rosemarie to close in, but to her surprise, the finish line came without much resistance.

Her teammates weren’t far behind, racking up points that left The Rams trailing by a wide margin.

Thea blinked, caught off guard.

Did they just breeze through to victory?

The crowd shared Thea’s disbelief, expecting a thrilling showdown, only to witness Rosemarie’s team falter miserably. “What just happened? Did Rosemarie’s team even show up to compete?”

“I expected a nail-biter, not this boring letdown.”

“Looks like The Rams only have Rosemarie pulling the weight; the rest are dead weight.”

“Thea is incredible! She’s my favorite!”

Jada and her crew never imagined the international stage would be this tough. Back home, they were top contenders, but here they were outclassed.

Their faces darkened as the crowd’s harsh remarks reached their ears.

“Forget what they’re saying. This race is done. The individual event is where it really counts,” Rosemarie muttered, her tone icy.

Jada gave a nod, comforted by the thought that Isabella’s team hadn’t joined the team event—until the big screen revealed they had already claimed victory and were heading into the next round.

How could that be? Weren’t they down a racer?

Wesley caught it too. “They don’t know when to quit, huh? Must’ve scraped up some extra racer from somewhere. Hah, team events are all about synergy—they must’ve lucked out and gone up against an easy opponent.” Jada agreed with a silent nod.

As before, the teams drew lots to determine their next matchups.

Isabella ended up drawing Thea’s team as their next challenge. A grin crept onto Jada’s face at the sight.

This time, no one seemed to expect much from the upcoming match.

“This one’s a no-brainer. Just hand Thea’s team the win already. Who even are these other guys?”

“No doubt, Thea’s taking this one.”

“Could this get any more predictable?”

The crowd tossed out opinions one after another.

Thea felt no jitters. They’d done their homework before entering the race, and while this team might’ve been a big deal in Lorpond, on the global stage, they were a non-factor.

So, at the start, Thea allowed herself to relax a little.

But as car after car zipped past her, tension crept in, and she quickly snapped back into focus.

The once-drowsy audience jumped to their feet, buzzing with excitement.

“Whoa, what’s going on with this team? How are they all passing Thea?”

“Look at the way they’re taking those corners! That’s insane. That girl’s driving reminds me of Rosemarie’s flair.”

“Yeah, I noticed that too. The way she pulled off that overtake—it’s got Rosemarie’s style written all over it.”

Overtaking Thea.

The crowd buzzed with excitement.

But Jada’s expression darkened.

So what if Isabella’s team had overtaken Thea now? Thea’s team was known as the best international racing crew, and there was no way they’d lose to Isabella’s team.

Jada watched with bated breath, hoping Thea would crush Isabella the way she had defeated them.

But Isabella’s car held a strong lead, crossing the finish line in first place.

Thea could only manage third.

Andrew secured second place.

Stunned, Thea stepped out of her car, eyes fixed on Isabella as she chatted with her team.

In all these years, only Rosemarie had ever made her feel such intense pressure.

Yet here was this girl, managing to do the same.

Who was she?

“Who are you?” Thea demanded, stepping forward and grabbing Isabella’s shoulder.

Isabella calmly removed Thea’s hand and replied, “You’ll know soon enough.”
