“I think they’re going to be like that for a while, baby doll,” he laughed at my reaction.
I sat there, wide-eyed, staring at the door again, completely dazed. His voice was soothing, but not enough to pull me out of my trance.
“You feeling alright, baby doll? You look a little pale. You want me to get you some water?” He started to get up, but I grabbed his arm and pulled him back down to the floor.
He moved closer, his arms on either side of me, his hands rubbing up and down my arms.
“Don’t you dare open that door. I’m not hearing another word from those two! My stomach can’t take it, especially with the alcohol in my system. How can they-it’s like-“
I rested my forehead on his chest, taking deep breaths to calm my stomach. Why here? Couldn’t they do that in his hotel room?
“Like what, baby doll?” Knox whispered against my back. I felt his hot breath through my clothing.
“It’s like Kyle hearing…” Oh God, Alex! Don’t say it! Don’t say it!
“Us doing it?” he finished my sentence. Can he read my mind? I chuckled a little and nodded my head. He laughed at the ridiculous idea we both had. Never going to happen!
There was a comfortable silence between us again, everything outside so still. Feeling his chest move up and down relaxed me, I didn’t feel as bad anymore.
He started to massage my head and play with my hair. I loved when people did that. His hand moved down to the base of my neck at the back of my head.
This was the part I loved the most, his fingers making circles in my hair and on my skin. It sent a tingle down my spine, this was the one thing that relaxed me, especially when I couldn’t sleep.
Sitting on the uncomfortable tiled floor, his thumb reached under my jawline and he pushed it upwards to his head resting on mine. His hand rested on the nape of my neck.
I kept moving it upwards until he removed his head that was once on top of mine and I met his gaze. His tired, hooded eyes stared right into mine.
This was so foreign, but his ocean blue eyes fixed on my own caused a pulse throughout my body. This effect was something that had never happened to me before, especially not when it came to him.
“How are you feeling?” He asked, concern etched on his face.
That face.
His messy dark brown hair trickled down the perimeter of his face. Perfectly falling. Perfectly placed on his head, sticking up in all directions.
The stubble dotted around his sharp-cut jawline made him look more rugged and relaxed. The perfectly straight nose that had been broken and reset so many times I’d lost count.
You could see a small scar across the bridge from it. His high cheekbones that made him look like a model and that I was so jealous of.
His light tan covering his skin from the exotic vacations with many girls he’d taken and the multiple outdoor training sessions.
Feeling a slight twitch in my heart as I thought of the pictures in the magazines, the girls he had brought to functions with my family there.
The girls that were constantly pining for his attention, picturing them kissing him. His lips. Looking down at his lips, pink and plump. Probably from kissing so many girls tonight.
His tongue darted out to lick them, I couldn’t help my stare while all of this was taking place in slow motion. Well, in my mind it was slow motion.
Flashing back to the times when his lips were on mine, my very first kiss, and the game. Mentally smiling at the memory. He was a good kisser.
Alex, he only kissed you because he was dared to, both times!
Feeling his warm breath on my face.
How can someone be so perfect?
What? Snap out of it!
Guys like him don’t go anywhere near girls like you! He doesn’t like you like that and you don’t like him like that.
Do I? No, you don’t…
Feeling his thumb stroke my bottom lip, it snapped me out of my thoughts. How long was I in a daze for?
“Baby doll?” Looking back up to him, our noses brushed slightly, causing my breath to hitch a little in my throat.
“You alright?”
I returned his gaze, my voice trapped in my throat. I was at a loss for words. Why am I thinking of him like that? I wondered.
Alcohol and neediness are a dangerous mix, especially when you’re fresh off a breakup.
His face was so close to mine that if he leaned in just an inch, our lips would be brushing against each other. We held each other’s gaze for what felt like an eternity.
His eyes eventually drifted down my face, lingering on my lips.
What’s going on? Why is he looking at my lips? I thought, feeling the air in the room grow thick with tension.
Is it hot in here or is it just me? Fuck!
Hold on… reel those emotions back in, Alex! You don’t have time for this shit! No boys!
“Baby doll?” he whispered, his breath warm against my lips.
Shit, shit, shit! What is going on?
“We should get back to bed,” he murmured, his gaze still fixed on my lips.
No!
I mean, yes!
I mean – SHIT!
