After reading it, Isabella stopped browsing on her phone. She put it away and went to sleep.
The next day, Wesley arrived at the Lambert Group early.
He immediately asked his assistant to estimate the losses the other three major families had suffered over the past few days. It turned out that the losses had already exceeded one hundred million dollars.
A hint of resoluteness flashed through Wesley’s eyes. He couldn’t believe that, after everything that had happened, Andrew and Norton still refused to sever ties with Isabella. For a woman, they were resisting stubbornly. They should prepare for their unpleasant ending. They were doomed.
His assistant continued, “But Mr. Lambert, many of our senior executives have raised concerns. Now that we’ve stopped cooperating with the three major families, we’ve also incurred significant losses.” The assistant could no longer conceal his worry.
When conflicts arose among the four major families in Ansport, their losses would be immeasurable. The assistant thought Wesley’s behavior was somewhat childish.
But what could he do? He was just an assistant, and Wesley was Clayton’s only grandson. He couldn’t help but think of Zahir—things had been much better with Zahir around. Unfortunately, Zahir had gone missing due to a racing accident.
“I have my own reasons for my decisions. If they have complaints, they can keep them to themselves. There’s nothing else they can do.” Wesley’s voice was arrogant and domineering.
The assistant nodded, not daring to say anything further. He could only sigh inwardly.
As soon as he walked out of Wesley’s office, he saw several senior executives waiting outside the door. He took a deep breath and glanced around at them.
Wesley’s message was conveyed to them, and their faces hardened with fury after hearing Wesley’s unyielding stance.
“This can’t be. We must contact Clayton. He needs to be aware of what’s happening before things get out of hand. We can’t let this kid run wild. Otherwise, all the years of hard work in this company will be in vain, and we’ll only face countless problems,” said one senior executive.
“I’ve tried contacting Clayton, but I can’t get in touch with him. I think he’s been living in seclusion since handing the company over to Wesley,” another senior executive shook his head and sighed.
If reaching Clayton had been that simple, they wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.
All of them had gloomy expressions. None of them agreed with Wesley’s decision, but there was nothing they could do. They couldn’t think of any solutions.
Wesley was busy dealing with some documents in his office when his phone suddenly rang. When he saw the name flashing on the screen, a smirk appeared on his face. He answered in a good mood. “Norton, have you thought things through?”
“I’m calling to confirm with you again. Are you sure you won’t cooperate with us anymore? Is that your final decision?” Norton said coldly instead of answering his question.
“Norton, you know why I’m doing this—I only want what’s best for Andrew. Isabella has to leave him,” Wesley countered.
“Alright. If that’s really your decision, so be it.”
After saying this, Norton hung up without waiting for Wesley to respond.
Wesley looked at the screen of his phone, which had already turned black, feeling baffled.
A few minutes later, a news alert popped up in the lower right corner of his computer screen. He clicked on it. After reading it, his face turned pale in disbelief.
“One hundred ships applied for by Klein Group have finally started operating today. They have already established cooperation with the Riggs Group, Santos Group, and Patton Group.”
Wesley hadn’t expected the Klein Group to actually have their own fleet of ships. Even the Lambert family only had a little more than a hundred routes.
It turned out that the Klein Group had almost the same number of routes. “Why didn’t he know about it?” Wesley wondered. “And since they had such capabilities, why were they cooperating with the Lambert Group?”
Wesley stared blankly at the screen, his fingers trembling uncontrollably. His mind seemed paralyzed by disbelief. For the first time since taking charge, he faced a massive blow, one that threatened to topple his ability to manage the company.
Suddenly, the office door was pushed open from the outside, and the senior executives walked in.
“Wesley, we’ve been telling you not to go against the three major families, but you stubbornly ignored us. Look at what’s happened. You’ve dragged us into a mess. Did you really think they would give in to you obediently? You’ve overestimated yourself!”
“Every family that has made it this far is formidable. How dare you think you can control them like this! It’s utterly foolish.”
“How can you live up to Clayton’s expectations if you’re like this? If he returns and finds you’ve fallen out with the other three major families, he will definitely be furious!”
Not to mention Clayton, many people in the company were already infuriated by Wesley’s decision.
Wesley’s face gradually darkened as he listened to their reprimands. He couldn’t help but retort defiantly, “This company is mine, and I can do whatever I want. You have no right to criticize my decisions. Get out!”
Everyone looked at Wesley in shock, not expecting him to be so unreceptive to their advice. They could only shake their heads in disappointment and leave the room.
Wesley felt a chill run down his spine. He couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably in his seat.
Because Clayton had always been at the helm, Wesley had never been very attentive to the company. But he had noticed everything had been going smoothly, so he had thought managing it would be easy. He hadn’t expected it to be full of scheming and plotting.
Wesley leaned back in his chair, feeling the weight of reality pressing down on him. Since the Klein Group offered better benefits, who else would want to cooperate with the Lambert Group? They didn’t need the Lambert Group.
This news had already caused a stir in the online world.
“Wow, Mr. Klein is incredible, orchestrating such a major move!”
“I knew it! No one can manipulate Andrew; he’s very smart. Wesley is still too naive. As for Isabella, she has such a boyfriend who can protect her from any storm.”
“Don’t you think Wesley has been acting strangely from the start? He didn’t hesitate to terminate the Lambert Group’s cooperation with the other three major families just to target one woman. Is he really worthy of the CEO title?”
“Isabella is impressive. She can stand on her own and doesn’t need anyone’s protection. Everyone has seen her achievements at Patton Group. She’s definitely not on the same level as Wesley.”
“Wesley seems completely out of his depth. Does Clayton truly have no intention of appointing another successor?”
“If only Wesley’s brother were still here. He was so capable… he held the group together like no one else could.”
“You’re talking about Zahir, aren’t you? It’s such a shame he disappeared during that race.”
The online community buzzed with relentless criticism. Comments poured in, questioning Wesley’s abilities and mourning his brother’s absence.
Wesley had never been the subject of such public gossip before, and it stung. Frustration boiled over, and in a fit of rage, he swept his arm across the desk, sending papers, pens, and everything else crashing to the floor.
However, once his rage subsided, he grasped the true consequences of the recent upheaval. The company’s profits were at risk; half of them depended on collaborations that Andrew now controlled. This loss could potentially slash their annual earnings by fifty percent.
Worse still, Andrew would likely push forward with his overseas expansion, further shrinking their market share. For the first time, real panic tightened in Wesley’s chest.
He had miscalculated, thinking brute force and authority could bend others to his will. But Andrew was a far more strategic player, and Wesley’s naivety had cost his company dearly. He couldn’t just stand by and watch the group fall apart like this. Wesley began pacing the office, running a hand through his hair in frustration. His mind raced, grasping for a solution. There was only one option left—a compromise.
Andrew had held off on using his ship routes out of respect for the Lambert Group in the past.

Maybe if Wesley approached him, humbled himself, and asked for mercy, Andrew would reconsider. It was a long shot, but it was all Wesley had left.
With a sigh, Wesley reached for his phone. But just as he was about to dial, the door creaked open.
“Jada,” Wesley muttered, seeing her step into the room. The sight of her unleashed all of his pent-up frustrations.
“What’s your plan now?” Jada inquired.
Wesley sighed heavily, his face etched with resignation. “I was about to call Andrew. It’s shocking how much he’s kept from us. We need to regain those partnerships,” he confessed. Gone was his usual bravado, replaced by an air of defeat.
A shadow flickered across Jada’s face, her fury mirroring his. She had believed they could corner Isabella this time, but Andrew had played his cards well. Now, they were backed into a corner.
If Wesley called Andrew to beg for mercy, wouldn’t that mean her pride would be crushed alongside his?
“It looks like reaching out to him is our only move,” Jada said, her voice tight. “I can’t believe it’s come to this. The top four families once worked so well together, lifting each other to new heights. But ever since Isabella came into the picture, everything’s changed… Maybe it’s partly my fault. I should’ve been more accommodating with Isabella earlier. If you make this call, you’re essentially handing over control. We’ll be at their mercy…” Her voice wavered, and she bowed her head, dabbing at her eyes with a tissue.
Wesley stood frozen, dazed by the weight of her words. His friends used to often neglect him because he was much younger than them, and now he was contemplating a plea for mercy, which would only diminish his standing further.
“Jada, what should I do?” he asked, his voice desperate, his eyes burning with anger. “It’s all because of Isabella! She’s the reason we’re in this mess!” His gaze pleaded with Jada. He hoped she, with her sharp mind, could come up with a solution. But instead of answering, Jada pulled out her phone. Without a word, she tapped the screen and played a video.
Wesley’s brow furrowed in confusion as the footage began. It was the recording of Zahir’s car flying off the track during the fateful race. His brother’s accident.
“Jada, why are you showing me this?” Wesley asked, his voice soft, bewildered.
“If Isabella were out of the picture, everything could return to the way it was,” Jada said softly, her voice smooth yet chilling.
Wesley froze, his eyes widening. Although he despised Isabella, murder had never crossed his mind. But now, with Jada’s suggestion hanging in the air, the thought began to take root, creeping into his consciousness. Jada stepped closer, her tone sinister.
