With a mere flicker of Maxine’s expression, Norton sensed that a storm was brewing. He dared not withhold the truth any longer and confessed, “I saw Andrew shopping at the mall the other day.”

Isabella, keeping her composure, replied, “Maybe he was just inspecting the mall.”

Norton hesitated, then added, “But there was a woman with him.”

Maxine asked, “Not a secretary?”

Norton shook his head and said, “She was a blonde woman, not a business partner.”

Maxine pinched Norton playfully, exclaiming, “If you knew she was a business partner, why did you want to say something?”

Didn’t he realize that girls were often suspicious? What if Isabella felt upset because of this?

Norton quickly scrambled to apologize. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

Isabella, however, remained unfazed, simply lifting her cup to take a sip of water. The little episode faded swiftly into the background.

Halfway through the meal, a commotion erupted at the door.

“Miss, you can’t go in.”

“I know someone inside.”

Isabella turned her gaze and spotted Jada and Wesley.

What a small world it was, running into each other like this.

Wesley waved at Norton, calling out.

Since they were already at the entrance, there was no reason to turn them away. Norton glanced at Maxine with hopeful eyes, silently seeking her approval.

Maxine frowned. Today was supposed to be a quiet meal with Isabella, so why were these people intruding? She remained silent, but Norton quickly picked up on her meaning. Turning to Wesley, he said, “Let’s catch up another time.”

Wesley protested, “Norton, can’t we join?”

“Sorry,” Norton replied.

It was clear to Wesley that Maxine was the one who didn’t want Jada and him there. Frustration bubbled up inside him as he noticed the growing closeness between Norton and Isabella.

This infuriating woman! She had stolen his friends away! With no other option, Wesley and Jada left.

Maxine watched them go, clearly displeased. Norton quickly reassured her, “They just happened to run into us here. Forget about them. We’re here to enjoy our meal. If you don’t want them around, I won’t let them join.”

“Okay,” Maxine nodded.

Isabella continued eating, but Wesley’s departing glance left her with a lingering unease. This feeling soon proved justified.

After answering a phone call, Norton looked back at them, his expression stunned.

Maxine asked, “What’s wrong? Tell us.”

Norton replied, “Wesley has taken over the Lambert Group.”

The internet was buzzing with the news: Wesley had been promoted to CEO of the Lambert Group today.

“Is that really so shocking?” Maxine muttered, slightly dissatisfied.

Norton explained, “It’s not just that. His first act as CEO was to cut all partnerships with the Patton and Klein families.”

Clang— a spoon fell, clattering onto the plate.

Had Wesley lost his mind?

It made sense for him to end the partnership with the Patton family, given his dislike for Isabella. But why cut ties with the Klein family? The Klein family was significant!

Isabella felt the same shock ripple through her.

Norton quickly tried to comfort them, saying, “I’ll have a serious talk with Wesley. He’s really gone too far this time.”

Isabella’s gaze remained cold and indifferent as she replied, “If he’s made up his mind, he won’t listen to you.”

“I don’t want him reversing it someday!” Norton’s voice rang with genuine anger.

After the meal, Isabella waited at her villa entrance for Andrew. The night was dark, and the air grew colder, biting at her skin. She rubbed her icy hands together, hoping for warmth.

Suddenly, large, warm hands covered hers, sending a rush of heat through her. Isabella turned to see Andrew. Under the soft glow of the streetlight, his handsome face looked even more captivating, his dark hair tinged with a hint of gold, making him irresistibly alluring.

Isabella was momentarily entranced.

“What are you daydreaming about?” Andrew asked, giving her cheek a playful pinch.

Snapping back to reality, Isabella replied, “Are you done with work?”

“Yes. Why weren’t you waiting inside?” Andrew asked.

“It was too stuffy in there,” Isabella answered honestly.

Andrew guided her back into the villa, switching on the heater. The room was soon filled with warmth. He handed Isabella a glass of warm water, a gentle smile on his face.

“You waited for me?” he said. “Is there something you want to discuss? Is it about Wesley?”

“Yes,” Isabella replied, her gaze growing cold. “Do you think Wesley’s actions will impact you?”

The Lambert family held significant influence, second only to the Klein family, with strong international ties. Many businesses sought to stay on good terms with the Lamberts.

If the partnership between the Lambert and Klein families had indeed been severed, it could force the Klein family to halt some of their operations.

“Only a little, but not significantly,” Andrew replied with calm assurance. “In the realm of international business, they aren’t the only ones with connections and resources. Over the years, we’ve also been preparing to venture into this field. However, if the Klein Group were to develop in this area, it would certainly impact the Lambert Group. That’s why I haven’t taken any significant actions, out of respect for the longstanding friendship between our two families. But now that Wesley has chosen to be unreasonable, there’s no longer any reason for me to accommodate him.”

“I see,” Isabella nodded. She knew Wesley wouldn’t easily get Andrew worried.

A subtle flicker of amusement danced in Andrew’s dark eyes as he regarded her. “So, don’t worry. I’ll contact your brother, and you can safely entrust your international business to me.”

Isabella’s heart fluttered.

“Alright,” she said, her gaze dropping slightly.

“What’s wrong? Still worried?” Andrew’s voice was gentle as he wrapped an arm around her waist, his inquiry soft.

“It’s just that you treat me so well,” Isabella confessed.

“Sweetheart, you must stop saying such things,” Andrew chided playfully as he pinched her cheek lightly. “You’re my girlfriend. Who else would I treat well, if not you?”

“Will you ever fall for someone else?” Isabella’s question was laden with unspoken fears as she looked up at him. For some reason, Andrew felt a twinge of nervousness under her probing gaze.

“Sweetheart, what are you saying?” he asked.

Isabella remained silent, her eyes quietly studying him.

“The only woman in my vicinity is my secretary, and if it troubles you, I’m willing to replace her with a male secretary. And about the female executives—though they aren’t as easily replaced, if it eases your concerns, I can minimize my contact with them…”

Andrew mentally sifted through every woman he had ever known, but still, he couldn’t figure out who Isabella was suspicious of.

Noticing the unwavering look on her face, he cautiously inquired, “Babe, what do you really mean? Can you just tell me directly?”

“Never mind,” Isabella said. “I’m going to rest.”

“No way.” Andrew swiftly grabbed Isabella’s wrist. “You can’t just brush this off, honey. You need to vent your feelings, or else you’ll end up disappointed in me.” His anxious demeanor took Isabella by surprise. She had only felt a hint of displeasure, yet to Andrew, it seemed like a monumental concern.
