Isabella glanced at Andrew’s impeccable demeanor and felt a twinge of annoyance. He was clearly performing for her parents. When had she ever taken advantage of his good nature?

Yet, Isabella acquiesced obediently.

Finally, the date for Isabella and Andrew’s engagement was set.

Upon returning to her own villa, Isabella gave Andrew a sharp pinch, to which he responded with wide-eyed innocence.

“Darling, what’s this?”

“Why did you have to act like such a good boy in front of my parents?” Isabella poured out her dissatisfaction. Once her cherished child, she now felt her reputation was tarnished, as her mother seemed to believe she was bullying Andrew. It seemed he had single-handedly ruined her image.

Andrew wrapped his arms around her in a comforting embrace. “I absolutely didn’t mean to do that. I just wanted to marry you sooner.”

“Hmph.” Isabella snorted coldly.

While almost everyone in the family was swept up in the joy of the upcoming celebrations, the atmosphere changed the next morning. Isabella had barely awakened when her phone rang. It was Elaine.

“Isabella, can you get in touch with Howard?” Elaine asked, worry evident in her tone.

Isabella was confused. “What happened to Howard?”

“He and his girlfriend were supposed to be in his room last night. But when I went there this morning, they were gone. I called Howard, but he didn’t answer. Then I saw a note he left saying there’s no need to prepare for the engagement,” Elaine replied in a trembling voice.

Isabella’s brows furrowed. She found the situation very strange.

Howard had always been gentle and sensible, not reckless. He was the type who wouldn’t suddenly disappear without a word.

Isabella hurriedly took out her phone and called Howard. However, she was only answered by an automated female voice. She turned on her computer to track his location.

Her fingers flew over the keyboard as she tried to find Howard’s last known location. Soon, she found him in the Crimson Strip. While she stared at the red dot on the screen, her heart skipped a beat.

Howard was in the base of the Serpentine Palers. What was he doing in such a dangerous place?

Was he taken by the Serpentine Palers? Or did he go there on his own?

Isabella’s face paled at the thought of both possibilities. Should she tell her mother about it? But in the end, she decided to call Andrew first. Her hands trembled as she dialed his number.

Andrew arrived in less than five minutes, dressed in a business suit. He was obviously ready for work. When he saw Isabella’s anxious expression, he quickly asked,

“I’ve been trying to call Howard, but I can’t get through. I tracked his location, and he’s in the Crimson Strip. He may have gone to the Serpentine Palers’ base.”

Isabella looked at Andrew, feeling unusually nervous and scared. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on her.

If Howard had really gone to the Serpentine Palers’ base, the risks were enormous.

A gentle and innocent man like him was no match for those people. Her heart ached at the thought of Howard being in such peril.

When Andrew saw the concern on Isabella’s face, he gently reassured her, “Don’t worry. They want Howard to develop high-tech weapons for them, so they won’t hurt him. He won’t be in danger. Let’s not tell your mother for now. I have contacts in the Crimson Strip, and I’ll look into it first.”

Isabella nodded. She was grateful for Andrew’s help, but her heart was still heavy with worry.

So, she decided not to go to work today. She had to go to the Crimson Strip in person.

The Serpentine was not to be trifled with. Their ruthless reputation was well known, and anyone who crossed them faced dire consequences. They killed anyone they didn’t like without hesitation.

Howard was a man with a strong moral sense. His unwavering principles would never allow him to yield or cooperate with such an organization.

“Isabella, don’t go there yet. Wait until we understand the situation more before you act. Since Howard disappeared at home, I suspect Nalani has something to do with it,” Andrew said after careful analysis.

At that moment, Isabella’s phone rang. It was a message from Jared.

“Boss, it’s bad! Howard went to the Serpentine Palers’ base. What’s going on? Why did he go there?”

It seemed there was news from the undercover agents in the Serpentine Palers.

Isabella replied, “Yes, I know. What’s the specific situation?”

Jared immediately replied, “Howard followed that top assassin there.”

Isabella was surprised. Howard and Milly were together? Could it be that Howard already knew Milly’s identity? Isabella fell into deep thought, the weight of the situation pressing heavily on her shoulders.

Andrew noticed she was stunned and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”

Isabella murmured absent-mindedly, “It seems Howard knows Milly’s identity.”

Andrew wasn’t surprised. “Howard is a very smart man. He probably investigated Milly long ago. If that’s the case, he might have gone there voluntarily. If he wants to be with Milly, he must deal with the Serpentine Palers.”

“But the Serpentine Palers are strong and powerful. It’s not easy to dismantle such an organization,” Isabella sighed deeply, filled with worry.

No matter how much she convinced herself, she couldn’t calm down. After all, her loved one was involved.

“Don’t worry. Since Howard decided to go, he must have a plan. I have people in the Serpentine Palers too. Rest assured, I’ll have them cooperate with Howard,” Andrew reassured her gently, patting her shoulder to help calm her down.

Isabella suddenly turned to Andrew, looking at him in surprise.

Andrew had people in the Serpentine Palers too? She nodded.

For now, this was the best option. Andrew was right; if she rushed there to find Howard, she would only alert the enemy.

Isabella sent Jared another message, instructing him to keep an eye on the Serpentine Palers.

Then, she went to the company. But her mind still raced with thoughts of Howard and the potential danger he was in. She spent her spare time investigating the Serpentine Palers’ movements.

The Serpentine Palers seemed to be planning something big.

At this moment, Jared called and reported, “Boss, I now know who’s behind the Serpentine Palers. If I’m not mistaken, it’s the royal family of Aswil. They want Howard because of their country’s well-being. There has been an ongoing internal conflict there, and a riot is about to start.”

Now, Isabella finally understood why the Serpentine Palers were so brazen.

She immediately instructed, “Keep an eye on them. If there’s any development, inform me immediately. Have our people contact Howard.”

“Don’t worry, boss, I’ve already arranged it.”

Suddenly, the clear sky darkened, and the wind swept away the fallen leaves. Isabella subconsciously shivered, and her grip on her phone tightened. Her heart was filled with uneasiness. The sudden change in the weather seemed to foretell something ominous.

In the next few days, Isabella’s routine went on as usual. However, she remained uneasy, still worrying about Howard. But finally, she received news from the undercover agents. It was only then that her anxiety eased.

“Boss, our undercover agents have contacted Howard. He is really smart,” Jared exclaimed excitedly.

Isabella asked, “What’s going on?”

Jared’s voice was steady and sure. “We’ve always aspired to dismantle the Serpentine Palers. For years, we’ve grappled with opportunities and skirmishes. Now, Howard has devised a plan to work with them openly while secretly orchestrating the downfall of their organization.”

Isabella’s breath hitched, her heart throbbing in her chest. She knew Howard was smart, but executing a plan right under the noses of the Serpentine Palers was a formidable challenge!

“Tell him to tread with the utmost caution,” Isabella said, feeling a sense of urgency.

Sensing her anxiety, Jared offered reassurance. “Don’t worry, boss. Milly is also in the mix. They’re masterfully staging a performance, and as of now, no one suspects them. Howard’s acumen might just be our key to eradicating the Serpentine Palers.”

“Alright.”

Upon ending the call, Isabella reflected on how swiftly the year was drawing to a close.

She proceeded to distribute lavish year-end bonuses among her staff.

Meanwhile, Maxine’s film project was advancing without a hitch, and the crew received double bonuses, so everyone was in high spirits.

Elsewhere, Tatiana was making her own strides.
