She felt especially frustrated.

She confronted Isabella, “Isabella, do you think you can deceive everyone like this? The truth will reveal itself.” Realizing it was wisest to depart, Tatiana and her assistant quickly exited the scene.

Once they were in the car, Tatiana felt suffocated and immediately called her agent to check on Kathy’s condition.

However, as they started to drive, their car was abruptly rammed, nearly careening into a nearby lake. Both Tatiana and her assistant were horrified. In a desperate attempt, she managed to steer the car back onto the road, but their assailant had already disappeared.

The assistant turned to Tatiana and shouted, “Tatiana, your face!”

Panicking, Tatiana grabbed a mirror and, shocked by the sight of blood on her face, nearly passed out. “We need to get to the hospital!”

Following a thorough medical evaluation, the doctor tended to Tatiana’s wound.

“This wound is deep. It may not heal completely and could result in a scar.”

“Doctor, I’m an actress. How can I live with a scar? Please, use the best treatments available—I can’t afford to have a scar!” Tatiana pleaded, her voice filled with fear.

Final del formulario

“The wound is too deep; there’s nothing more I can do,” the doctor said with a sigh.

Tatiana gripped her bag tightly. “Find out who hit me!”

Her assistant, phone in hand, responded, “I’ve already contacted the police. They’ve pulled the surveillance footage, but the car had no plates and sped off after hitting us. There’s no telling where it went.”

“We have to find them, no matter where they’re hiding!” Tatiana growled, her teeth clenched in fury.

But then, a strange unease crept over her. Why had someone crashed into her so suddenly? This wasn’t an accident—it was deliberate!

Isabella?

No, it couldn’t be. Isabella had been on her phone the entire time; she wouldn’t have had the chance to orchestrate this.

If it wasn’t Isabella, then who…

Tatiana quickly pieced it together.

“No need to investigate,” she muttered.

“What do you mean?” her assistant asked, confused.

“It’s pointless.” Tatiana shut her eyes, fists clenched, hatred simmering beneath the surface.

When she finally rose to the top, she would make sure to repay every bit of this.

After finishing their meal, Isabella and Andrew stepped out of the hotel. Andrew held Isabella’s hand, his face calm as ever. However, Isabella couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

“What’s wrong?” she asked softly.

“She interrupted our meal. How do you want to punish her?” Andrew asked, glancing down at her.

“Haven’t you already punished her?” Isabella replied.

Andrew raised a brow, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. Isabella smiled softly, “When I stepped out, I overheard some chatter about a car accident nearby. It seemed too convenient to be a coincidence. Was that your handiwork?”

Great minds think alike.

Andrew gently ran his fingers through her hair, his touch filled with affection. “Tatiana is nothing but a nuisance. If we don’t get rid of her, she’ll keep pestering you.”

Isabella’s lips curved into a warm smile. “That’s true, but life gets dull without a little entertainment. If you take her out too quickly, the fun’s over. Besides, she has someone behind her. We can use her to lure out that person.”

Andrew had caught on to Isabella’s plan, which was why he had only given Tatiana a minor lesson this time. “Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

As they made their way home, Isabella sent a message to Milly.

There was no reply, but she knew Milly had definitely seen it.

Isabella’s confidence came from Milly’s involvement.

She had anticipated that Kathy would eventually confront her agent, and Global Entertainment wouldn’t handle things quietly. So, she had someone tail Kathy. What she didn’t expect was Global Entertainment’s boldness—they had taken Kathy away through the back door, leaving her people unable to keep pace. While Isabella had been worried, Milly had stumbled upon the kidnapped Kathy, rescued her, and discreetly sent Isabella the location. Without hesitation, Isabella alerted the police.

The whole matter had stayed under the radar.

Milly wasn’t acting out of pure goodwill, and Isabella knew her help came because of Howard.

Isabella texted, “Do you need us to help you leave the organization?”

She stared at her phone, fully aware that Milly wouldn’t respond. “What could we possibly do to help Milly cut ties with her organization completely?” Isabella asked.

Andrew considered deeply before speaking. “For most people, death would help them sever all ties with the organization. But Milly isn’t just an ordinary member; they have lofty expectations for her. Even after she faked her death, they have been keeping a watchful eye on her. She could create a new identity and slip away, but she mustn’t show her face around us. If she does, the organization will track her down. Yet, if she can’t be near us, leaving the organization would be utterly pointless.”

Isabella found herself in complete agreement with him. Milly could still see Howard from time to time now. If leaving meant she would have to forfeit those precious moments with him, what would be the point?

Was there truly no way to have the best of both worlds?

“If only we could bring down the Serpentine Players,” Isabella said, letting out a soft sigh.

Andrew’s lips twitched in amusement.

To speak so casually about dismantling an international crime syndicate was nothing short of extraordinary—Isabella truly was one of a kind.

They finally reached home. After a refreshing shower, Isabella nestled into her bed and reached out to Howard.

“Isabella.” His gentle, handsome face appeared on the screen.

“Hey, how have you been, Howard?”

“I’ve just been working hard,” Howard replied. He didn’t have much of a social life.

Just as Isabella was about to say something, her gaze caught a woman’s silhouette lurking behind him. What stood out was the fact that the woman was wearing his jacket.

“Who’s that?” Isabella inquired.

Howard turned his gaze, and as he did, the woman stepped forward. “It’s me, Isabella,”

Nalani said, her tone bright and cheerful.

Isabella couldn’t quite match her enthusiasm. How had their relationship advanced so rapidly?

Nalani noticed Isabella’s gaze resting on the jacket and, with a hint of shyness, clarified, “I was underdressed today, so Mr. Patton kindly lent me his jacket. He’s incredibly thoughtful.”

Isabella was speechless.

Howard asked Nalani to go back to her work and continued talking to Isabella. “What’s this call about, Isabella?”

“Are you and Nalani a couple now?” Isabella asked bluntly.

After pausing momentarily, Howard answered, “We’re planning to be.”

Isabella suddenly felt sad.

Milly had done so much for Howard without his knowledge. And now, Milly had to see him with someone else. She must be hurting so much.

“What’s wrong, Isabella?” Howard asked, concerned. He always noticed the smallest shifts in her mood. Yet, he remained oblivious to Milly’s constant presence by his side. Isabella felt a deep pain in her heart but kept it to herself. She didn’t want her brother caught up in trouble.

“It’s nothing, Howard. But have you really moved on from Milly?” Isabella asked.

The smile on Howard’s face dimmed as he responded, “She’s gone, Isabella. What is there to move on from? You know why she got close to me.”
