“We’ll race under a different country’s name. Even if we come out on top, it won’t be credited to Lorpond. Let them feel the sting of regret.” Mercer clenched his jaw, his face contorted with rage. After dominating the racing scene for years, he was now experiencing such humiliation.

“We’re out. We’re leaving the team,” Jada and Wesley declared.

The rest of the team was taken aback. It was undeniable that Jada and Wesley played a significant role in the team’s achievements. Their affluent families had contributed immense resources to the team.

“What’s wrong, Wesley? We’ve been racing together for so many years. How can you just up and leave like this?” Mercer attempted to convince them to stay.

Jada replied gently, “I’m sorry, Coach. What occurred today has affected us significantly. Our families are very concerned about our reputations…”

Their reasoning was valid. Considering they hailed from two of the top four families in Amport, Mercer felt a mix of reluctance and growing resentment towards the YM Club but knew he couldn’t compel them to remain. “Alright, you’re always welcome to return to the club when you can.”

Jada nodded, and she and Wesley made their way out.

Wesley asked, “Jada, are we truly not going to race again? The only top clubs in the country are HB and YM, but we can’t join the YM Club.”

“Who says we’re not racing anymore? I still want to compete in this year’s international competition. We’ll form our own team,” Jada said with a smile.

Wesley smacked his forehead in realization. “I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. We joined them because we believed they were top-notch, but it looks like they’re falling apart.”

“Exactly. Plus, it has created a gap between us and Andrew. Let’s form our team and perform to repair our bond with him.”

“I agree.”

Hamlin suggested that the team all have a meal together, and everyone readily agreed.

Throughout the meal, the others kept glancing at Isabella.

“Why don’t you remove your veil? We’re all friends here, and we won’t spill any secrets,” the captain suggested. After all, dining while veiled was quite inconvenient.

“There’s no need. Don’t worry about me. Let’s enjoy our meal,” Isabella replied softly.

The group dropped the topic and resumed eating and drinking, the atmosphere becoming more lively.

A piece of rib was suddenly placed in Isabella’s bowl by Andrew, who sat beside her. His intense gaze locked onto her as he spoke in a low, inviting voice. “This rib is delicious. You should give it a try.”

Isabella had always been a fan of ribs. Was Andrew putting her to the test? “I’m sorry, but I can’t eat ribs; I’m allergic to them,” Isabella replied firmly.

Waylon quickly interjected, “Yeah, my friend just got back from abroad. She’s quite particular about her food. Let her have what she prefers; I’ll take the rib.”

He devoured the rib in a single bite and cast a glance at Andrew, hoping to quell any suspicions. Andrew’s expression stayed composed and neutral, making it difficult to gauge his thoughts.

“Come on, let’s raise a toast,” someone nearby called out, and Waylon eagerly joined in. By the time they wrapped up their meal, they had consumed quite a bit.

“Ma…” Waylon began to say to Isabella, but she quickly slapped him to silence him. She hurriedly added, “Sorry, he’s had too much to drink—I’ll take him home.”

“I drove here, so let me give you a ride,” Andrew said as he stood up, ready to help.

“No, it’s fine. We have a car,” Isabella said.

“He’s a big guy, and you’re too small. Let me help,” Andrew insisted, not accepting her refusal. He hoisted Waylon onto his shoulder, leaving Isabella with no option but to follow.

Inside Andrew’s luxury car, Isabella felt too intimidated to speak.

Waylon slurred, “Don’t stop, everyone. Keep drinking. I can still handle it. I’m really good at drinking.”

Isabella remained silent, and Andrew chuckled, his voice especially charming. “Your brother can’t hold his liquor!”

“Yeah,” she responded, feeling helpless.

Moments later, she sensed something amiss. She glanced at the man in the seat, his long, slender fingers relaxed on the steering wheel, his expression betraying no surprise.

“We’ve been friends so long that it feels like he’s my actual brother,” Isabella remarked. But Andrew didn’t react, leaving Isabella in silence. Great, after all this time spent pretending, he had seen right through her with just one sentence.

Andrew held his silence, and with each passing moment, Isabella’s anxiety grew. The tension overwhelmed her, suffocating and relentless, until she could no longer bear it. Finally, she uttered, “I’m sorry.”

“Sorry for what?”

“I shouldn’t have lied to you,” Isabella began, yearning to explain herself. But as she caught sight of the sadness lurking in Andrew’s downcast eyes, a sharp pang pierced her heart. “A mistake is a mistake. I won’t explain. I’m truly sorry!”

Andrew responded with a low hum, but the silence that followed spoke volumes. Isabella clenched her clothes tightly, a knot of anxiety twisting in her stomach.

Waylon cut in, “What are you two up to? Why aren’t you drinking with me?”

Isabella shot him a glance, secretly wishing she could just kick him to the curb!

The silence hung heavily as they made their way home. Andrew helped Waylon into his parents’ villa before stepping outside to find Isabella waiting for him at the gate of her own villa.

“Get some rest,” Andrew said softly, his hand brushing gently against her head.

Isabella met his calm gaze, and the deeper his tranquility ran, the more fear gnawed at her insides. “What’s wrong, Andrew? If you’re upset, just scold me!”

“Why would I scold you?”

“I promised you I wouldn’t race, yet I went and did it anyway…” Isabella hung her head, a wave of genuine remorse washing over her.

Andrew let out a soft sigh as he wrapped her in his arms. His voice was even more soothing under the blanket of night as he murmured, “I know you wouldn’t have gone unless you felt you had to. And if that was the case, what reason would I have to stop you? I could only join you.”

His gentle, indulgent tone brought tears to Isabella’s eyes, which spilled down her cheeks in an instant. No matter the moment, Andrew always prioritized her feelings, leaving her feeling even guiltier. “I knew you had your reservations about racing, yet I went ahead and participated. I’m so sorry. It was just that Waylon’s club owner had been kind to me before, and I couldn’t bear to watch his club fall apart!”

“Have you known how to race for a long time?” Andrew asked, his voice gentle as a caress.

“Yes, for a long time. Racing was the fastest way for me to make a name for myself.” Through her tears, Isabella gazed into his handsome face. “I promise I won’t get hurt!”

Andrew sighed once more, tenderly brushing away her tears with his fingers, his eyes brimming with heartache. “I can tell you’re really talented at it.”

At last, Isabella smiled, her voice laced with a touch of pride. “I actually won a national championship once!”

“That’s amazing. You’re truly my treasure,” Andrew said, his tone warm and indulgent.

Isabella blinked, a note of caution lacing her voice as she asked, “Are you truly not angry?”

“I’ve already heard your explanation. If I still tried to hold you back, that would be my fault. I’m not forbidding you from racing; I’m just worried you’ll get hurt,” Andrew replied. His words melted Isabella’s heart, and she wrapped her arms around him tightly. She declared in her mind that Andrew was the finest person in the world!

Suddenly, she felt something delicate fall beside her. Isabella looked up to see countless snowflakes drifting down from the sky.

“Wow!” she exclaimed in delight, raising her hand to catch them as they landed softly, only to vanish. The entire world transformed into a mesmerizing winter wonderland, each flake enhancing the beauty around her.

Against this enchanting backdrop, Andrew’s face appeared even more gentle. “It’s so beautiful!” Isabella exclaimed, stepping to the side to soak in the enchanting snowy scene. Andrew held her hand tightly, his warmth contrasting with her cold fingers, and he slipped off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

“You’ll catch a cold wearing just a shirt. I’m not cold,” Isabella attempted to return the coat. But Andrew pressed it down resolutely. “You’re a man; I don’t get cold. If you catch a cold, it’ll be a problem.”

With that, Isabella relented, allowing him to keep it on her. Soon, the world around them was blanketed in a delicate, shimmering layer of snow. Enchanted by the beauty, she began to twirl and dance.

Her laughter rang out like tinkling bells, filling the air with joy.

Andrew watched her, his gaze softening with tenderness as he took in the delightful scene. Meanwhile, Elaine and Glenn observed them from the second floor of their villa.

Elaine smiled knowingly, saying, “Kids these days care more about romance than staying warm.”

“Indeed,” Glenn replied, lovingly draping his coat over Elaine’s shoulders. “You really ought to get a coat. You’re not as young as you used to be. What if you catch a cold?”

Glenn felt a twinge of sadness at her words. Had he truly reached the age where his wife found him bothersome?

Snowflakes continued to dance down over the city, lending the night an exceptional beauty and gentle charm.

Elaine watched for a long time, her heart warmed by the sight.

Half an hour slipped by, and Andrew and Isabella were still joyfully playing in the snow.
