Gilbert forced a smile. “Sure, I’ll take you there.”

Upon her arrival at the Chapman Group, Eliza began her training under the supervision of the former entertainment department manager, who had recently been demoted to assistant manager. Despite his reduced rank, he was tasked with training Eliza, even though her background in dance left her ill-prepared for the business world.

“I’ve explained this to you multiple times. How do you still not understand?” the assistant manager’s frustration bubbled over after Eliza’s repeated questions.

“Shut up! You’re an employee in my family’s company. What gives you the right to lecture me?” Eliza snapped back, her demeanor turning icy. “I could have you fired with one word.”

Silenced by her threat, the assistant manager seethed internally. Despite her title and family connections, Eliza lacked the professionalism and understanding needed to command respect. She seemed far less refined than the former Miss Chapman, who had once held her position.

The assistant manager, having patiently explained the business basics to Eliza, finally reached his breaking point after her sharp retort.

“Fine, I see how it is,” he muttered with a resigned sigh, leaving the room with a mix of frustration and disrespect lingering in the air.

Not long after, Jeffry arrived to check on Eliza’s progress.

“Hey sweetheart, how’s it going?” Jeffry asked, his tone warm and encouraging.

“Pretty good,” Eliza replied with a smile.

Jeffry affectionately patted her head. “That’s my girl! You know, the assistant manager is a talented individual. I went to great lengths to recruit him. He’s exceptional in this industry, and I expect you to learn as much as you can from him. One day, you might even surpass him.”

Jeffry greatly valued the entertainment branch of the Chapman Group. Recently, the company had faced several challenges, with major partnerships abruptly ending, causing him stress. He saw Eliza’s involvement as a chance to stabilize the business.

However, Eliza absorbed his encouragement with a certain detachment. To her, the assistant manager was just another employee. “Alright,” she replied dismissively.

After giving a few more instructions, Jeffry left, leaving Eliza to continue her studies. But after just a few hours, she found the routine of office work incredibly boring. Restless, she left the building for some fresh air.

While outside, Eliza spotted a familiar figure entering a nearby office building. Was that Isabella? What could she possibly be doing here?

Curiosity piqued, Eliza dug deeper and soon discovered that Isabella had become the president of Natural Beauty, a skincare company. While not the biggest player in the industry, it still held a significant market presence.

How?

Had Isabella secured wealthy backers after leaving the Chapman family? The thought made Eliza’s expression darken. She couldn’t bear the idea of Isabella succeeding without the Chapman family’s influence.

As Eliza scoured the internet for more information, she stumbled upon a past scandal involving Natural Beauty, where one of their products had caused a celebrity to suffer an allergic reaction. A sly smile formed on Eliza’s lips—this could be the leverage she needed.

A few days later, Isabella was preparing for her first major meeting at Natural Beauty. She entered the conference room at 8:30 a.m., only to find it nearly empty.

“Where is everyone?” Isabella asked her assistant.

The assistant shifted uncomfortably. “Ms. Atkins said she had other commitments and couldn’t attend. Several others said the same.”

“Did they report their absences in advance?”

“No,” the assistant replied, her tone uneasy.

Isabella quickly understood the situation. This was a clear act of defiance. These employees didn’t believe that a woman in her twenties, appointed through family ties, would dare to discipline them.

There were whispers throughout the company that Isabella had only become president because of her connection to Dane. The employees resented the idea of their company being used as a pawn in someone else’s romance, and they were determined to teach Isabella a lesson.

“Document every absentee,” Isabella commanded, her tone cold. “Inform them: miss another meeting, and they needn’t bother returning.”

Her assistant hesitated, sensing the potential backlash, but the firm resolve in Isabella’s eyes was undeniable. She reluctantly proceeded with the task.

One of the older employees, Brenda Peck, let out a deep sigh and looked at Isabella. “Young lady, this business is no simple matter. At your age, wouldn’t you prefer to enjoy life, watch the flowers bloom, and bask in the daylight? Why get yourself tangled up in this mess?”

Isabella held Brenda’s gaze steadily. “Brenda, I’m not playing around here.”

Brenda, caught off guard, suddenly saw Isabella in a new light. She actually knew her name? Brenda had assumed that Isabella was just a figurehead, placed in power because of her relationship with Dane. But now, she was starting to realize that this young woman might be more serious than she had thought.

Throughout the meeting, Isabella commanded attention. Her presentation was sharp, well-researched, and thorough, showcasing a depth of understanding far beyond what anyone expected from someone so young. She laid out a clear and feasible roadmap for the company’s future.

Murmurs of approval rippled through the room. Eyes sparkled with newfound respect for their young president.

Even Brenda, previously skeptical, approached Isabella after the meeting with newfound esteem. “Miss Patton, my apologies for earlier. You’ve clearly earned your place here.”

Isabella gave a slight, gracious smile. “Thank you, Brenda.”

As her words lingered in the air, the doors to the conference room abruptly swung open, and a group of executives, dressed extravagantly and trailing a cloud of expensive perfume, strode in. The woman leading them crossed her arms, barely glancing at Isabella.

“Apologies for being late. I was tied up with urgent business,” the woman said dismissively.

“The meeting is over,” Isabella replied flatly.

“But we’re here now,” the woman challenged, her tone dripping with arrogance. “You wouldn’t deduct from our performance bonuses, would you?”

Isabella’s response was swift and unyielding. “And why not?”

The expressions of the late-arriving executives grew grim. The group’s leader, Michelle Frey, scoffed sharply. “Fine, if you’re set on doing this, we’ll have no choice but to resign.”

Her declaration visibly shifted the mood of the room.

Out of camaraderie, Brenda leaned toward Isabella and cautioned in a low voice, “Miss Patton, think carefully. Michelle’s formula is crucial for our upcoming product. If she leaves with it, we won’t be able to launch, and we’ll lose our clients.”

Isabella remained calm, her gaze steady on Michelle. “Go ahead,” she said, addressing not just Michelle but the others who had shown up late. “Are all of you leaving together?”

The room fell silent as everyone waited for Isabella’s next move.

Michelle’s confidence wavered slightly. “Are you sure about this? If you can’t release the new product, Natural Beauty is done for!”

Isabella repeated her question, her tone sharp. “Are you all leaving together?”

The latecomers exchanged nervous glances, still believing their collective resignation would force Isabella to reconsider.

But half an hour later, they stood outside the building in the cold wind, slowly coming to terms with the fact that Isabella had indeed fired them. She hadn’t caved to their threats.

Had Isabella lost her senses? Natural Beauty wasn’t at its peak, but it had the backing of the Patton Group and offered great benefits. The now-dismissed employees were starting to regret their hasty decision.

“Michelle, what should we do now? She’s serious! Maybe we should return. Jobs with benefits like those at Natural Beauty are hard to come by,” one of the executives murmured anxiously.

Michelle clenched her teeth, but then smirked. “Don’t worry. I have an offer from another company—Migge Skincare. I haven’t accepted it yet, but I can bring you all with me.”

The group hesitated. Migge Skincare had been a rival to Natural Beauty for years, and while the offer was tempting, it felt like jumping into enemy territory. But with no other options, they followed Michelle’s lead.

Inside her office, Isabella returned to her desk, where Brenda tried to persuade her one last time. “Miss Patton, this is too risky. Without that formula, the product launch is doomed. Our customers will lose trust in us!”

Isabella offered a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I have a plan.”

Brenda, still skeptical, asked, “What plan?”

Just then, Isabella’s phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she gestured for Brenda to excuse herself, then answered the call.

“Isabella…” came a strained voice on the other end. It was Susan. “Can I come over?”

Isabella’s brows furrowed with concern. “What’s wrong?”

“I… I got fired,” Susan replied, her voice faltering.

“Fired? Why? You’ve always been such a hardworking employee,” Isabella asked, confused.

“I’m not sure why they let me go either,” Susan said, clearly upset. She had worked at the company since graduation and was blindsided by the sudden termination.

Isabella paused briefly, then suggested, “Come see me. We’ll talk.”

Within an hour, Susan arrived at Isabella’s office. After a bit of research, Isabella discovered that Susan’s former employer was supported by the Reed family.

“It seems your dismissal may be connected to me. I’m sorry, Susan,” Isabella said apologetically.
