My lips curled into a smirk, and I opened my mouth to say it, but she clasped a hand over my lips.

“Don’t ruin the moment, Zane.”

I laughed, then kissed her hand until she removed it from my mouth.

“You’re-“

“No fun. I know,” she cut in.

“My life,” I said, leaning in and pressing my lips against hers.

She kissed me back, and for a moment, I felt like I would melt.

I lifted her up into my arms and carried her to the bed, gently laying her down.

“Lia,” I said, climbing in with her. “How do you feel about getting married?”

Her entire face lit up, a smile taking over her lips. “Yes.”

I laughed. “Yes?”

“Yes.” She nodded. “Zane, I was about to ask you. I think we’ve been engaged for long enough. You’ve perfected yourself as an Alpha. We have enough money. I have managed to do a lot for my parents, and John, and I don’t think I want to wait any longer. When I walked down the aisle today, staring at you, all I wanted-“

“Was for it to be our wedding,” we said in unison.

She laughed, nodding. “Yeah,” she said softly. “I wanted to be your bride so bad. Not just the maid of honour. I wanna be yours now, Zane. I don’t want anything to be left. I want you completely.”

“You have me, my love,” I said, cupping her cheek. “Already. Since the moment we both turned sixteen.”

She smiled wider. “What do you think… about the end of the week?”

Now my eyes widened. “What?”

“I know,” she cried, “it’s way too soon, but… please? Can you make it happen?”

I stared at her, my thumb gently caressing her cheek.

If she asked me like that, I don’t think there was anything in the world I could deny her.

“Alright,” she sighed before I could say anything. “I know it was a stupid thing to ask. I know you want to make it perfect and perfection takes time, so I under-“

I silenced her with another kiss.

It was so cool how I could just kiss her whenever I wanted.

“I can make it happen,” I said against her lips, slipping my hand into her hair. “I can make anything happen for you, love. Anything at all.”

She smiled, kissing me back, throwing her arms around me. She pulled away from the kiss to bury her face in my neck, nuzzling into my skin. “I love you, Zane. I love you so, so, so much.”

“I love you too, baby. Next week it is, then.”

-AJAX’S POV-

I took a deep breath before knocking on the little cottage door. My knuckles barely made a sound on the wood, but I knew she’d hear it anyway.

She probably knew I was coming before I even got here.

Witches were psychic like that.

Just a moment later, the door creaked open and there she was-Tina. Long red hair spilling over her shoulders, green eyes giving me that look like I was in trouble for even showing up.

My heart raced, every instinct within me begging me to grab her and kiss her.

But of course, I didn’t really like the idea of being turned into a frog.

Maybe she’d kiss me herself then.

“Ajax,” she said, pulling me out of my inner monologue.

I smiled at her, trying to look less nervous than I felt. “Hi.”

She stepped aside without much fuss, letting me in.

The air hit me straight away-that witchy smell, sharp herbs, smoke, and something sweet underneath that I couldn’t quite place. The place was cluttered but cosy, shelves stacked with jars, books piled everywhere. I sat down where she pointed, on a ??little wooden chair that squeaked with my weight.

“Don’t worry, it can hold you.”

I gave her a sheepish grin.

“So,” she started, crossing her arms, “why are you here again?”

I leaned forward, elbows on my knees. “Same reason as last time.”

Her mouth twisted like she was trying not to laugh. “You know, you’re not Sapphire and I’m not Warner. You can’t just keep pestering me until I give in.”

“Not pestering,” I said quickly. “I’m just asking. There’s a difference.”

She laughed. “Is there?”

“Yes. Look, make a deal with me. You witches love deals, right? I’ll give you something-anything-in return for a hundred days with you. Just a hundred. If at the end you still feel nothing-“

“You’ll keep trying,” she said. “I know you werewolf lot, love. You think you can just claim anyone.”

“Not anyone,” I clarified. “The one who is best for us. The one made to-“

“Don’t,” she hissed, making me freeze. “Don’t try to define the purpose of my life, Ajax.”

I sighed. “Sorry. I’m terrible at words. Everyone tells me that. I am more of an action person. All I mean, is that you and I are meant to be. And I’m not a bad person, I promise. Give me a chance? Look how happy your sister is with my twin.”

She tilted her head, studying me in that witchy way like she was reading me. Then she smiled, but it wasn’t soft at all.

“That’s not how this will work,” she said. “If you’re brave, make a dangerous deal. Give yourself up as my apprentice. You’ll stick by me, fetch what I need, protect me when I need it. In a hundred days, if I love you, I’ll move into your precious pack house like Sapphire did. If not, you’ll never mention the word ‘mate’ again. I will take away your physical ability to say it.”

I stared at her, heartbeat picking up.

Wow. That was risky-way riskier than I’d planned. But it was also the only chance she was going to give me.

“Fine,” I said, after a beat. “Deal.”

She raised an eyebrow. “Just like that?”

“Just like that,” I repeated, shrugging. “But… one thing. A kiss to seal it.”

That actually made her laugh, this bright sound that filled the little cottage. “You’re ridiculous,” she muttered, but she leaned down anyway. Her lips brushed mine, soft and warm, gone too fast but enough to make my stomach flip.

I grinned at her when she pulled back. “Guess we’re official now.”

She rolled her eyes and shook her head, but there was still that smile tugging at her lips.

I could do this.

I knew I could.

She was going to accept me just like her sister did.

I was way cooler than Warner anyway.

-ZANE’S POV-

I stood at the altar, my palms damp even though I kept rubbing them against my trousers.

Aaron was right beside me, trying to whisper stupid jokes under his breath, but I couldn’t focus on anything except the doors at the back.

Any second now, they were going to open. Any second, and she’d be walking down to me.

It was unbelievable, really, standing here waiting for her.

Even after everything we had been through.

I kept thinking about when we were kids, back when she was just some human girl I barely noticed. The Hounds used to push her around, say things they shouldn’t, and I’d just stand there watching. I never joined in, but I never stopped them either. That part always twisted in my chest. Back then, I didn’t care enough to. She wasn’t mine, she wasn’t my problem.

And now… she was everything.

The thought of anyone looking at her the wrong way, let alone hurting her, made something in me want to tear the world apart

The music started, and I could swear my heart stopped beating for a bit.

The doors opened and there she was.

Lia Snow.

Soon to be Lia Adams.

My mate. My anchor. My life and entire world.

She looked unreal. I didn’t even know how to describe it.

The dress clung to her in all the right places, then flowed to the ground, trailing behind her. The veil barely covered her face, and I could still see the way her eyes locked onto mine the second she stepped forward. It was like the whole room faded, like every breath and heartbeat lined up with hers.

Her Dad walked her down the aisle, his hand steady on hers, and for a moment I thought about how different things might’ve been. How she could’ve chosen Blake, or walked away, maybe never trusted me after everything the Hounds put her through.

But she was still here, walking to me, and I promised myself I’d never let her regret it.

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught my parents.

My mother had her hand over her mouth, while Father just smiled like he already knew I didn’t stand a chance of keeping it together.

Selene was present too, looking regal and human, with John by her side.

Lia’s Mom was barely holding in her tears, and honestly, I felt the same.

Aaron leaned over, tapping my shoulder firmly, “Breathe, mate. You’re looking like you’ll pass out before she even gets here.”

I let out a shaky laugh but I couldn’t answer him. My throat was too tight.

By the time she was halfway down, my eyes were stinging.

Not that I cared.

She was smiling, her eyes glittering as usual, and that was everything I would ever need.

When she finally reached me, her Dad handed her over with this look that said more than words could. Like he was trusting me with something priceless, something I had no right to touch unless I understood what it meant.

And I did. Goddess, I did.

I took her hand, warm and trembling in mine, and the world seemed to fall into place.

It took every bit of self control to not lean in and kiss her at once. To keep my eyes from going black and starting our honeymoon right here, right now.

This was it. This was what it had all been leading to.

The danger, the nights where I thought I’d lose her, the way we stuck close no matter what.

She was mine.

Not because of the bond, not because fate said so, but because she chose me.

And as I stood there looking at her, I knew I’d spend the rest of my life proving she was right to.

-LIA’S POV-

I stood there, clutching Zane’s hands like they were the only thing keeping me upright. on was the shade of his eyes.

That clear blue that felt like home. Felt like comfort. Peace. Bliss. All at the same time.

A small smile played on his lips, but what made my heart race quicker was the tears in his eyes.

After everything, we were finally here. Getting married.

It was perfect. And he’d managed it all in just one week’s time.

All because I asked him to.

Before I knew it, it was time for the vows, and my heart pounded as he began.

Zane’s voice was steady, low and certain. “I promise to love you, protect you, and stand by you, no matter what storms come our way. You are my best friend, my mate, my heart, and the only person in the world who matters. I choose you, Lia Snow, every day, for the rest of my life.”

My throat burned.

It was simple. Short. Just like it needed to be.

Because everything else spoke volumes.

I blinked fast, trying not to cry.

My turn.

“I promise to love you with everything I am, Zane Adams. To walk with you, to fight with you, and to keep choosing you, even when it isn’t easy. You’re my partner, my safe place, and my home. I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure you never forget how much you mean to me.”

Zane’s thumb brushed over my knuckles like he was memorising the words with his skin.

The minister smiled. “By the power given to me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Zane didn’t waste a second. He leaned down, his lips warm and sure on mine, and the whole world melted away. My parents clapped somewhere in the background, but I barely heard it. It was just us, our vows still lingering in the air, and the way his kiss told me he meant every single word.

We were married.

I was Lia Adams now.

Officially, completely, his.

The moment we walked into the bedroom, my breath caught.

Zane had gone all out.

The whole place was glowing softly, lit up with little candles tucked on the shelves and dresser, and roses scattered everywhere, even across the bed. The air smelled sweet, and music played low in the background, the same song he’d played when he’d asked me to prom years ago.

A smile stretched across my lips, wide and unwavering.

“This is incredible, Zane,” I whispered, because I honestly didn’t have better words.

His lips curved into that smile of his, the one that made the corners of his eyes crinkle, and somehow made him look even more handsome than he already was.

He closed the door behind us, then came to me, taking my hand in his. He didn’t rush, just led me towards the bed like it was the most important walk we’d ever take.

His eyes were darker now, watching me in that way that made my knees feel weak.

I could feel the heat coming off him, his thumb brushing over my hand, slow and careful, as if he wanted to savour every second.

I swallowed, nerves and excitement all tangled together. “You managed all of this in a week for me,” I whispered as he gently pushed me down on the bed.

“For us,” he corrected softly, gently pulling my veil off, his arms wrapping around me to find the zip of my dress.. I took in a deep breath as he climbed in bed with me, heat spreading in my eyes, making them glow purple.

Zane’s eyes turned completely black as he undid his buttons, ripping most of them.

My heart thumped, and when his lips finally touched mine, everything else faded away.

The music, the roses, the candles-it all blurred out.

It was just him and me, the warmth of his mouth against mine, the promise in the way he kissed me.

He drew me down with him, his hand at my waist, and the world seemed to spin slower, softer.

And then there was nothing but us, the night, and everything else we could ever want.

Epilogue

-LIA’S POV-

We stared up at the sky, hearts beating in sync, bodies tangled in each other.

Zane had one hand laced with mine, his other arm wrapped around me, fingers gently caressing my protruding stomach.

We’d gotten the gender today.

Our room at the pack house was decorated in blue balloons, blue banners and blue garlands. Sapphire and Warner’s twin daughters-Hayden and Diana Hale-had spread magical blue sparkles onto the entire floor for us. They seemed more excited than we were to welcome a younger friend to play with. Aaron and Sheila’s children, Gia and Kade, were nearly seven and nine years old, considering themselves too cool to play with toddlers. They still had Ajax to entertain them, but he’d only recently gotten engaged to Tina, all his time now spent rejoicing and admiring her.

His name would be Sean Adams, the future Alpha of our pack, and the love of both our lives.

I’d thought there was no one in this world who could mean more to me than Zane. one mattered more inan the lite me growing inside me.

I’d give up my life, set the entire world on fire, and destroy everything in my path to protect him.

And I hadn’t even held him yet.

“Isn’t it weird?” I asked softly, turning my head to glance at him. “I thought I couldn’t love anyone more than I love you. But now…”

Zane chuckled, nudging his nose against my cheek. “You’re just saying this until he’s a teenager. After that, you’re gonna be back to loving me the most in the world.”

I smiled. “I don’t know, Zane.”

“You’ll see,” he murmured against my ear, his lips tracing my skin.

I sighed, glancing up at the infinite sky again.

The moon shone down on us, silver and bright, a reminder that she was there to watch over us.

When John passed away, the sky had been dark for a month.

We almost freaked out, afraid she wouldn’t go back.

But then she reappeared up there, with a new star always shining beside her.

Their love was eternal, just like they both had wanted.

Zane propped himself up on his elbow, turning towards me.

I gazed into his blue eyes, my chest warm, heart full with love and peace.

He unlinked our hands to cup my cheek, and leaned in, pressing his lips against mine.

I kissed him back, eyes fluttering closed, the warmth in my chest spreading everywhere else too.

“You know,” he whispered when he pulled away, “I now have everything I ever wanted, Lia. And it all revolves around you. If I never met you, if you chose Blake-“

“Ew,” I grumbled, cutting him off. “Don’t say that. He’s happily married to Caitlyn and they have a daughter on the way.”

Zane smiled. “They’re naming her Heather, right?”

I nodded. “Yeah. It’s pretty.”

“You should talk to your mother,” he said. “Tell her not to complicate our son’s life like she did ours. Give him one mate, and give his mate only one mate too.”

I laughed. “Yeah, she won’t do this to him. That was only for me.”

“I was the one whose patience was tested, love. Not you.”

“You deserved it a little bit.” I grinned. “You were so mean to me before that.”

He smiled sheepishly. “I’m sorry, my love.”

“I’m kidding,” I chuckled, leaning up and kissing him again. My eyelids started to feel heavy as we made out, and despite my efforts to stay awake, I couldn’t fight it any longer. Pregnancy hormones, probably. “Zane,” I whispered as he licked the new mark he gave me a night ago.

“Hmm?” he asked softly, hands slipping under my clothes.

“I want to sleep,” I said gently. “Is that okay?”

Zane laughed, withdrawing his hands and pulling away from my neck. “Of course, baby. I knew you were about to say it.”

“Sorry,” I muttered.

“Shh.” He pressed a finger to my lips. “Your rest is the most important thing. Go to sleep, and never feel guilty about it.”

I smiled. “I’m so lucky to have you. Christy always talks about Nathan keeping her up every night.”

Zane shrugged. “The difference between humans and werewolves, love.”

I giggled. “I don’t think she minds it.”

“Good for her, then,” Zane chuckled. “Okay, close your eyes. Enough talking. Time to sleep.”

He pressed one last kiss to my lips, and then to my forehead, before switching the lights off.

A/N: Thank you so much for reading until the last chapter. I cannot believe this is over. I have laughed, blushed and cried with these characters for the last six months. Thank you for all the love and support. It means the world to me.
