Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family
“I’m sorry, Mr. Collins, I really didn’t know Mirabella was your daughter.” Demetrius walked up to Kenneth, bowing in apology. He suddenly understood the Collins family’s dissatisfaction with the Melton family. It was all because of Mirabella, yet he only found out about Mirabella’s true identity now.
Kenneth snorted coldly, turning his head away, not accepting his apology.
Demetrius walked up to Louisa, apologizing, “I’m really sorry, Mrs. Collins. It’s my fault for not raising my daughter properly and allowing her to spout nonsense.”
Mirabella gave Yolanda a cold look, let go of her hand, and walked towards Louisa.
“My dear daughter, does your hand hurt? Next time, let someone else handle such dirty work!” Louisa personally brought a wet towel to clean and massaged Mirabella’s hand, treating Yolanda as if she were germ.
Demetrius, Olga, and Yolanda felt like they were slapped right across the faces.
Who would believe that Louisa had the guts to say that touching Yolanda was dirty and tiresome.
Was Yolanda’s face that dirty?
When the entire Collins family was ganging up on them and only Hans hadn’t taken a side yet, Demetrius, clinging onto the last bit of hope, tentatively called out, “Hans”
“Aren’t you going to do something?” Hans looked at him coldly, shattering his last bit of hope. “You want someone else to do your dirty work?”
Everyone hoped that the Melton family could get their act together and teach their daughter some manners.
Finally, Demetrius had no choice but to step forward, gritting his teeth, closing his eyes, and slapping Yolanda hard across the face.
Yolanda had already taken dozens of slaps from Mirabella; she was practically deaf in one ear. Her pained expression didn’t look like an act.
But a bunch of snooty ladies continued to smirk and sneer.
‘That slap was so light, anyone would think you were tickling your daughter.”
“You think one slap is gonna make everything alright? Dream on!”
“Insulting Mrs. Collins is an insult to all of us. If you can’t do the dirty work, we’ll do it for you!”
“If you don’t make this girl’s face swell today, don’t even think about leaving this place!”
Yolanda watched as her parents were bullied, and her tears started to flow uncontrollably. She cried out, “Stop tormenting my parents! It’s my fault; I’ll take the punishment. The next slap, I’ll do it myself!”
As she cried, she began to slap herself. She looked so pitiful, as if she were the most wronged person in the world.
But no one was moved by her performance, especially the high–class ladies who wore disgusted expressions.
“Yoli.” Demetrius was heartbroken to see her hit herself so hard; he couldn’t bear to look.
“Enough/stop hitting yourself.” Olga watched as she hit herself again and again; her lips were bleeding, and her heart ached. “Yoli, stop hitting yourself! Mom’s begging you: Look at what you’ve done to your face!”
Yolanda slapped herself a dozen more times; she couldn’t hear from both ears now, and her vision was also starting to blur. She might have hit herself too hard, she suddenly collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
“Yoli, Yoli?” Olga immediately rushed over to hold her and ask, “Are you okay?”
Seeing the injuries on her daughter’s face, she couldn’t hold back her tears.
“Mr. Collins, Mrs. Collins, my daughter has passed out. Can we just drop this? We are deeply ashamed that we couldn’t teach our daughter better. We sincerely apologize to you, especially to Bella!”
Demetrius bowed formally, making a ninety–degree bow to show his apology
But Louisa saw through Yolanda’s tricks right away and said lazily, “I’ll count to three. If she hasn’t woken up by then, your family won’t be welcome in. Summerfield.”
“Mrs. Collins, my daughter has fainted. You can’t possibly,” Olga didn’t get to finish her sentence.
Louisa started counting nonchalantly, “One.”
“Her face is already swollen badly, and her lips are bleeding. Mrs. Collins, can’t you find it in your heart to forgive her? As an elder, aren’t you worried that,” “Two.” Louisa continued to count without a care in the world. Why should she be afraid?
“Mrs. Collins, you,”
Just as Louisa was about to say three, Yolanda suddenly opened her eyes and pretended to be panicked, asking, “Mom, why am I here? What happened?” “Yoli, are you awake? Are you okay?” Olga wanted to touch her face but was afraid of hurting her, so she asked with concern, “You passed out just now. How do you feel? Does your face hurt?”
“I’m not in the mood to watch your little drama.” Louisa said bluntly, “I won’t repeat myself. I want your whole family to apologize to my daughter!”
So it turned out that the apologies from Demetrius and Olga weren’t enough. Louisa wanted all three of them to apologize to her daughter!
The high–society ladies around them were all urging them to apologize.
“If you guys don’t apologize, don’t even think about hanging around Summerfield anymore.”
“Apologize!”
“Your entire family owes Ms. Bella an apology!”
In the end, Demetrius, Olga, and Yolanda had no choice but to swallow their pride and apologize to Mirabella.
“We’re sorry”
They chorused their apologies, never having been so humble before.
“Bella, I’m sorry for not teaching your sister properly and causing you trouble.”
“Bella, please forgive Yoli. Remember, we were once family. I’m begging you.”
“I’m sorry, Mirabella. Please forgive me! I’ll watch my mouth from now on.”
Their heads were kept low, and their bodies were hunched.
This was the first time in their lives they had ever kowtowed to Mirabella.
Romeo gently stroked Mirabella’s hair, saying softly, “If you’re not satisfied, I can make them–kneel and apologize, or would you like to see them go bankrupt?” The faces of the Melton family trio instantly turned pale, fearing that Romeo might actually make these things happen because he had the power to do so! “No need.” Mirabella sounded impatient. “Just leave.”
When Demetrius came back to his senses, he looked up to see that the daughter they once looked down upon had become someone they couldn’t afford to offend. His feelings were mixed.
They once thought her family was poor and even wanted to cut ties, but now.
“Thank you.” He never thought he would one day thank Mirabella for letting them go and for not humiliating them further.
He prepared to leave with Olga and Yolanda.
Hold on.”
A powerful voice suddenly rang out.
Everyone turned toward the sound and saw an energetic old man stepping out from the crowd.
He was dressed in an expensive suit with two assistants by his side.
Demetrius instantly recognized him as the head of Luna Capital, a world–renowned venture capital group.
His group was even bigger than Allbara Investment. He had amassed wealth through small businesses and later began investing.
His insight was unique. Almost every project he invested in was a success. He had invested in many industries over the past decades, and his personal fortune was substantial.
Demetrius had met him a few times before and knew he was an old friend of his mother, Grace Melton. However, they didn’t meet often because he usually stayed
Overseas.
Did he show up today for this piece of land?
