“Really? If Howard hadn’t made a comeback, you’d still look down on him, right?” Milly asked, her tone neutral.
Tatiana found herself speechless. She glared at Milly with disdain. “At least Howard and I share real feelings. What about you?”
“We are truly in love, and I’m not letting Howard go to anyone else!” Milly said boldly, her confidence palpable. Such forthright declarations were rare in the entertainment industry.
“Fantastic! Milly, you have my support!”
“Milly, you’re awesome!”
“Tatiana is just the other woman! Women like her belong nowhere but hell!”
“Ha! Milly is just clinging to Howard for his influence. You naive internet people are hilarious. They’re not a suitable pair at all, are they?”
Feeling the mounting tension, the host intervened to calm things down. After the final part of the show, the director was thrilled with how the episode turned out. Milly’s forthrightness had made a strong impression, driving up live viewership numbers. Even when silent, Milly managed to captivate the audience effortlessly. Consequently, the director personally invited Milly to appear in the next episode.
“We’ll see,” Milly replied noncommittally, then left to change her outfit.
As Milly stepped out of the room, she encountered Tatiana waiting by the door. Tatiana’s face showed clear displeasure, her eyes filled with bitterness. She glared at Milly.
Milly gave her a brief look and was about to walk away. Suddenly, Tatiana reached out and grabbed her hand. Milly swiftly pulled away. In the next moment, a dramatic scene unfolded—Tatiana stumbled backward into a nearby cabinet, causing it to topple. This incident quickly drew a crowd.
“What happened to Tatiana?”
“Oh no, Tatiana is bleeding. Someone call a doctor.”
The crowd surrounded Tatiana. The director approached, his brow furrowed, and behind him came Howard. Howard knew Milly was on today’s show and had taken a break to watch. He was touched by what Milly had said earlier and had come to pick her up, not expecting to walk into such chaos.
Dressed in white, Howard stood out amid the crowd. Many who hadn’t seen him before were struck by his refined features and elegant presence. He seemed like a prince from a fairy tale.
He looked even more charismatic than on TV.
“Is that Howard? Wow, he really is handsome! I thought he looked good at the launch event, but he’s even more impressive up close.”
“I’ve always said, Howard is extremely handsome, and he’s a tech genius too.”
“His presence is magnetic. It’s no wonder Tatiana wants him back.”
“What’s happening here?” Howard approached Milly.
A doctor was already attending to Tatiana, who was bleeding from the head. Her eyes were red, and her typically strong demeanor was replaced by a look of vulnerability. Tatiana looked pitifully. “Milly, I know my words upset you, but did you really have to treat this like a game?”
Tatiana’s accusation led everyone to whisper and wonder.
Did Milly, angered by Tatiana’s attempts to win Howard back, deliberately push her?
Tatiana glanced at her two team members.
Lexi said immediately, “Yes, I saw Milly push Tatiana. You know how crucial beauty is in the industry. Milly could have been disfigured!”
After pondering for only a moment, Lexi chose to align herself with Tatiana. She reasoned that since Tatiana and Howard had a long-standing connection, Howard must still harbor feelings for her. Milly was undeniably attractive, but Lexi believed that for men, the allure of many beautiful women was fleeting.
Offending Howard’s childhood sweetheart Tatiana, who was also wealthy, wasn’t a wise move. Surely, Howard would defend Tatiana, right?
Tatiana’s other team member stayed silent. Although Milly had bested them this time and it stung, she recognized Milly’s competence. Being Milly’s adversary might not bode well for her.
The onlookers were intrigued, wondering whom Howard would side with. Was it the stunning Milly, or his childhood sweetheart Tatiana? Most assumed it would be Tatiana, sharing Lexi’s viewpoint.
“I saw Tatiana fall on her own!” Jazmine said out of the blue.
Milly was taken aback by Jazmine’s statement, especially since Jazmine had shown displeasure towards her earlier.
With everyone’s eyes on her, Jazmine confidently repeated, “Tatiana fell by herself!”
Lexi, displeased and from the same agency as Jazmine, whispered, “Jazmine, stop causing trouble. Are you siding with Milly because you were on her team? I clearly saw Milly push Tatiana.”
Jazmine’s eyes clouded with fear. She wasn’t as prominent in the industry as Lexi and stood no chance against Lexi and Tatiana. Jazmine lowered her gaze.
The crowd simply enjoyed the unfolding drama. Howard looked between Tatiana and Milly. “What happened?”
Milly responded coolly, “She tried to grab me; I just shook off her hand, and she fell. I didn’t use much force. She fell down by herself.”
“You’re lying. You pushed hard. Everyone knows you have practiced martial arts. You’re very strong. How could I have fallen like this on my own?” Tatiana countered, appealing to the bystanders.
Everyone seemed convinced by Tatiana’s account.
The director asked cautiously, “Miss Duncan, could you have been unaware of your own strength? You are quite strong.”
Milly found the suggestion absurd. “If I really intended to hurt Tatiana, she’d be in much worse shape right now.” As Milly approached Tatiana, the latter felt an overwhelming presence and became inexplicably frightened. “What are you going to do?”
Milly reached for a nearby cabinet.
It was the same cabinet Tatiana had accidentally bumped into earlier.
With one hand, Milly forcefully shoved the cabinet, sending it crashing into a nearby wall with a loud “bang.” Everyone fell silent for a moment.
Although the cabinet wasn’t heavy, it was wooden and typically required adults to move it. Yet, Milly managed to move it using just one hand. She pushed the cabinet away effortlessly.
“Oh gosh. Was that even humanly possible?”
The crowd stared at Milly in shock.
Looking down at Tatiana, Milly said, “See? If I had wanted to hurt you, you’d be nothing but a heap of flesh.”
Feeling the intense pressure, Tatiana gazed at Milly’s stunning face as though she were looking at a demon from hell. She began to tremble and, in her fear, accidentally wet herself.
The sight of the spreading yellow stain made everyone recoil in disgust.
Tatiana was mortified to the point of having an accident! Realizing what had happened, she wished she could vanish. The embarrassment was overwhelming!
Unable to endure the odd stares from the crowd, she quickly got up and left the scene.
The expressions around Milly were mixed.
“It seems this was all a misunderstanding. Let’s move past it. Mr. Patton, my apologies,” the director said quickly.
Howard’s expression turned stern. He replied, “Tatiana isn’t right for your show.”
“I understand; Tatiana won’t be invited back,” the director responded promptly.
Everyone grasped the situation immediately. It appeared that Howard chose to side with Milly!
Lexi was filled with regret. While she stewed in her feelings, Howard looked at her and inquired, “What’s your name?”
Lexi, caught off guard, stammered, “Mr. Patton, I-I’m sorry. I might have been mistaken just now.”
“If you can’t see clearly, perhaps you don’t need your eyes,” Howard said in a calm yet chilling tone.
Had Howard always been this intimidating? Lexi felt weak in the knees and nearly collapsed. As she watched Howard and Milly walking away, she attempted to follow but was halted by the bodyguards.
Watching Milly’s retreating figure, Jazmine experienced conflicting emotions. She suspected Milly was feigning vulnerability to manipulate those around her.
Back at the agency, Jazmine’s agent approached her. Uncharacteristically gentle, he asked, “Jazmine, you’re back. Are you okay?”
“What’s going on?” Jazmine sensed something was amiss with her agent’s unusual demeanor.
True Affection for Milly
“Oh, why didn’t you mention that you knew Mr. Howard Patton?” the agent said with a smile. “If I’d known earlier, I could have lined up better opportunities for you.”
