His officials wanted to move Robert but Victor shook his head to stop them.
Sophia did not know how to react. The situation had gotten messed up. The way Bryan had treated Victor really enraged her.
He gazed at Bryan with icy eyes, capturing his attention. Her expression changed and turned into a stunned look when she caught a glimpse of the shape of a flame burning inside his red eyes. His face grew fiercer as he refused to look at anyone else but her.
It was as if the face was the same but the person had changed.
His eyes moved at how Victor’s arm was wrapping around her. He knitted his brows and said,
“I gave you so many chances to return. However, you ridiculed me in the presence of my enemy. I have always chosen to overlook this and let you do whatever you wanted.”
He took a pause before walking toward her. Sophia did not move but Victor’s grip around her tightened in response.
Bryan stopped in front of them, but his eyes were solely on Sophia.
Robert immediately turned to him and grabbed his arm. “Alpha, let’s…”
Bryan yanked his arm away from him and said to Sophia,
“I thought you were different, Sophia Berge. But I was wrong. I should have understood that a woman like you couldn’t be different. You…”
He pointed his finger at her and muttered,
“You can’t be any throne’s Luna. Because people can manipulate you at any time, how will you rule a pack with it? Did you want to be my wife and Luna with this personality? With this attitude, will you take revenge from me for your broken heart? You must be kidding me.”
Sophia felt her heart shatter. She stared at him, refusing to let out a tear.
Seeing her pale look, a smirk formed in the corner of his lips.
Sophia’s eyes moved slightly. But she gathered up her courage to not break eye contact.
“The man who can’t even protect himself from me, how will he protect you from me?”
Victor removed his hand from Sophia, pushed her gently to the side, and moved to face Bryan.
“Talk to me. Don’t humiliate her in front of me.”
Hearing Victor, Bryan laughed at him. It was a dark laugh that shook everyone around them.
“Now a psychopath like you will tell me how I should talk to my mate?”
Moving closer to Victor, he whispered, “Should I remind you about your mate, Victor Laurant? Just one year of doses made you forget her death? Then I shouldn’t have sent you there in the first place.”
Sophia was confused about what Bryan was talking about. She did not like how he called Victor a psychopath.
“Move away from him. You have already killed his mate. Now, what are you talking about? How can you speak so proudly instead of feeling guilty?”
Bryan sneered when he heard Sophia. He glared at her and replied,
“Guilty and Alpha Bryan? That might work in your dreams, Sophia Berge. I will send your beloved fianc?? back to the mental asylum where I sent him years ago after killing his mate.”
“Mental Asylum?” Sophia murmured in shock.
As if Victor had finally lost his temper, he grabbed Bryan’s collar and growled at him.
“Just because I am quiet doesn’t mean you will keep running your mouth and hands. Everything will affect your throne; mark my words.”
Bryan raised a brow as though he did not care what he was saying. He grabbed Victor’s wrists and yanked them away from his collar.
As if his touch were dust on his shirt, he patted his collar to brush away.
“Victor Laurant, why are you calm? To show the woman next to you that you are a nice guy? And don’t give me these hollow threats. Because of the game you are playing, you are just a student, and I am the principal there.”
Victor intended to strike Bryan, but his officials stopped him.
“Alpha, it’s not our pack. Control yourself. We will take action about it after going back.”
Bryan chuckled when he heard Victor’s officials.
“Joker and his official team.”
His eyes shifted beside Victor and focused on Sophia. She was staring at him. Her gaze was filled with disbelief.
Her eyes conveyed her feelings towards him at the moment, which were pure rage.
“How could you kill his mate and then send the man to be tortured in a mental asylum, Alpha Bryan? How much more do I have to get shocked by learning about your true face?” She asked in a lower tone.
Bryan shook his head and replied, “You haven’t known me yet, Sophia Berge. It’s all because of you. You started everything, but I will end it. You want to marry a man who appears innocent to you but will reveal his true colors later. I warned you many times, but you ignored me and made fun of me in front of him.”
“I am talking about you. You are a heartless man,” she muttered with a broken expression.
Bryan took a step back while responding to her.
“I tried not to be heartless just for you, but it looks like I shouldn’t have treated you differently. You are just the same as other women. You are going to marry him in four days, right? Now let me see how you will get married. Just two days and you will come back to me.”
Sophia’s broken look slowly turned fierce as she gave him a stern look.
“Back to you? I will never go back to you. Even if you are on the edge of death, I will never return to you. You don’t deserve love. You deserve to get punished for torturing others.”
Robert tightened his fists as he roared at her.
“Hold back your tongue before he “
“Robert, let’s go. Let her spend her sympathy time with her so-called financ??,” Bryan interrupted Robert, turning around and heading back to the staircase.
Robert turned around and left the floor. Behind him, Delta Edger and Theta Nobel also left after glancing at Sophia and Victor for the last time.
When the floor turned silent, Sophia turned to Victor.
“Are you okay?”
Victor stared at the way Bryan and his officials had just gone. “Hmm, I am fine.”
She glanced at his head, which was still bleeding. “No, you are not. You need to go to the pack hospital.”
Victor held her hand and asked,
“I am happy that you chose me over him. I am sorry that I hid that thing from you. I thought you would…” He paused, as if losing his words.
She glanced at his hand and slowly removed it from hers. “You have such a great temper. I am surprised you didn’t lose it in front of him.”
He noticed how she moved his hand away from hers. He frowned but then replied,
“I did not want him to hurt you. I was afraid he would kill you just like he did to my mate.”
Sophia raised her gaze to look at him. She wondered if he really cared for her this much.
Later, Victor went to the pack hospital with his officials and Sophia. His officials kept talking about how Bryan wanted to kill Victor just like his mate.
Sophia felt really bad for Victor.
She was shocked to see how Bryan behaved today. It was like he was not the same person who was very calm and cold. He almost turned into someone else today.
She had so many questions in her head, and she asked Victor about them. In response, Victor replied,
“My father did not want to give me the whole pack and wanted to give half to Mila’s husband. I opposed the idea that Mila should not marry Bryan because his pure motive was to get our half pack. Bryan saw I could create a problem in his way, so he planned with my father and caged me in a mental asylum. He made his men torture me for a whole year. His plan was to take over my whole pack. But I got out of there and returned to my pack. After that, my father had no choice but to make me the head Alpha immediately.”
Sophia lowered her head after listening to him. The more she learned everything from him, the more she felt sad. It was like he was creating a soft corner in her heart for himself. Because he showed her his vulnerable side.
“I am sorry for whatever happened to you, Victor,” she said, looking at him sadly.
Victor’s head was bandaged, but he looked fine. So Sophia took a deep breath and said,
“I think I should leave now. It’s getting late and I have to go back home.”
Victor nodded at her and said he would drop her. She tried to refuse, saying that she could leave by herself and he should rest, but he did not listen to her.
In the car, Sophia felt a little tired and sleepy. Victor noticed it and said,
“Why not sleep for a while? I will wake you up when we get to your house.”
She recalled how he kissed her in the club, but that was not the situation when she could talk about it. However, she would have to accept him since she would marry him soon.
“It’s okay,” she replied, refusing the idea of sleeping in the car.
However, she felt so sleepy that she did not know when she fell asleep.
When she opened her eyes, it was already morning and she was in her bedroom.
